    Enda !!! Thank you ..
    I have watched your playing on you tube etc and just love the ease with which you play.
    .. I have finally found time to watch this intro to playing tenor banjo (I’ve owned one for four years now, but had no idea how to start). I find your teaching style calm , clear , informative and so straight forward to grasp. Brilliant presentation, can’t wait to try another lesson and practice ! 🪕🪕🪕👌😜😎

    I have been self-learning for a few months now and I started off back then by viewing this video. Good stuff to pick up here. I am back watching it now just so I can review holding the pick, right arm placement, etc... making sure I am progressing in the proper direction with the song I am learning to play. I will be checking out his website as well.

    I watched even though i don't own nor play tenor banjo, but I love to hear friends play and love to play backup piano for the melody players.
    I like the philosophy about it being just a series of one notes. Kinda helps if they are the right notes though 😂
    Also, I was glad you got to rip into a tune at the end. Must have been hard to hold back all that time!

    Enda, the video blurring filter that you're using is blurring the headstock of the banjo and consequently the tuning pegs can't be seen, otherwise a perfect intro to getting acquainted to the instrument.

    Thanks Enda! I've played very sporadically since I was 10 (now 26), self taught, only ever learnt tab and never progressed passed 15 tunes. Picked up it again for the first time since having children 3 years ago.
    Any recommendations on where you start on your material?

    Hi Enda, Thank you for the brilliant video. I just bought my first banjo yesterday and your beginners ebook. Unfortunately the arm rest of my banjo is the second one you mentioned, but I am interested in the Irish style. I'm a girl and for my tiny wrist, the gap between the armrest and the tail is very uncomfortable. Is there anything you recommend I could place there to improve the comfort (but that won't ruin the instrument)? 😃🪕🪕🪕

    • @IrishTenorBanjo
      @IrishTenorBanjo  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Almost all arm rests can be moved, they are generally attached to the banjo and thus moveable. If you have access to anyone who repairs guitars are fiddles are banjos then they will easily be able to move it. Even somebody with experience of work or mechanics might even be able to do it!!

    Hi. I might be very late here but I can't even tune my banjo with a tuner😮 I have a very old banjo that I dismantled, cleaned and put back together again. I'm a complete novice. I bought the tuner and the new strings but I'm pretty sure I haven't wound the strings on correctly. I managed to find G and D but I'm blowed if I can find A on the second string. I've found everything other than but not A. And there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. I go from B to G to G5 to C to D, but no A. I've had to put the banjo away for now. I'm not having any fun and I'm contemplating turning the banjo into a cricket bat. 😊

    • @IrishTenorBanjo
      @IrishTenorBanjo  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      what gauge is the A string that you put on?

    • @stephentuffin6520
      @stephentuffin6520 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@IrishTenorBanjo .016? Possibly. Those numbers are next to the A string. 2A/.016. I've sort of managed to tune it in using 'Chromium' on the tuner. Not sure if that's meant to work but it's sounding a bit better than it did. Thanks for the reply. :)
