An Irish Tenor Banjo version of three well known Bluegrass fiddle tunes. The tunes are Whiskey Before Breakfast/ Big Sciota/ Daley's Reel. Video by Radek Slenzak (perfectpicture.ie) and Lukas Parciany. All music played, recorded and mixed by Fergal O'Hanlon. - เพลง
The most underrated instrument, but the most amazing sound it makes.
I’d argue the mandola is more underrated
@@petecowley3481 not under rated by broom bezzums. It’s marks main instrument
This guy is a fine example how tenor banjo should be played, lovely tempo, beautiful touch, and most of all totally on the tune, 👏👏👏🇮🇪🇮🇪☘️☘️
Tennessean of Irish descent here, I love this
Thanks! I visited Tennessee a few years back!
Alabama born and raised, I love the Irish music AND the banjo.
' Run Forrest, Run' ''
Im sorry I had to
Love a good old Irish Banjo. You can't feel sad when an Irish Banjo is playing. Ireland is like the happiest place. You can't be feeling unhappy when in Ireland.
Nothing like a little Whiskey Before Breakfast. My boss frowns upon it though.
Who could resist giving this a digital round of applause? absolutely stunning!
thank you
AGREE . He is so talented and this playing just makes me smile!
👏👏👏 brings joy to the morning 🥰

Galaxy Captain thanks very much. Really glad you like it
Wonderful! He makes it look so easy. In fact he looks almost bored. Well done Sir.
Thanks!
Makes me want to learn banjo
Do it! World needs more banjo players! I’m currently learning and nothing puts a smile on the face faster.😃
You can pickup a tenor banjo fairly cheaply too, and the less expensive models can still be a very nice sounding instrument!
Un jeux avec assurance et un merveilleux décor .
I'm flying...I'm in joy❤️
Music of the Gods Fergal, superbly played.
Banjo and Accordeon. The most underrated musical instruments.
Absolutely!
here in 2020 and dang that is some good banjo playing! just starting to learn to play and I am so excited!
Thanks. The learning process can be both fun and frustrating! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do
This was just the thing to lift my spirits after a long day at work. Thank you!
Thanks for the kind words Mary
25 dislikes!!!! The banjo envy continues. Great playing, I'm still listening in from time to time and still sounds great.
Cheers. Haven’t been playing much banjo I’m hoping to do another track this year
Well I hope it turns out real good and I look forward to hearing it
God Lord, you certainly know how to play that tenor banjo

Banjo is dope
I've watched this a few times now and it's fantastic and as Emily said before - this makes me want to learn.

Oh hi Mark
Las chipettes dirán aaawwww
Love that banjo!
Fergal, you're my new banjo hero. I'm a sixty-year-old, life-long 5-string banjoist hailing from Southern Nevada, USA, and your playing is superb. Makes me wish I would've pursued the four-string instead of the five. Thanks for posting this and your other gems... and keep 'em coming!!
StudebakerHawk57 thanks so much!!
Amazing and beautiful...thankyou
Suzanne Freespirit thanks
Even banjo videos need drone shots in 2021!

Well done, Fergal. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you!
Amazing! Love it :-) 🤩
@@SwissBanjo thanks!
Got a nice Irish feel to it!
This is such an enjoyable video on multiple levels. Even if you are not a huge banjo lover, although I am slowly becoming one. The videography is simple but truly captures a sense of simple beauty and enjoyment of the act of playing and practicing; at least that's what i see in it. Fergal, you clearly really enjoy playing, and you are quite good! I especially like those frequent rapid triple / quadruple notes... I am sure they have a proper name. I cannot help but chuckle at the very few thumbs down next to the over 1.6k thumbs up at the time of this writing. Who needs to give this a thumbs down? Probably the same people who dis-like baby kitten videos. *chuckle.
Thanks very much for the kind words. We call The rapid notes triplets. I do really enjoy playing and at the time of filming I was really into it, so I’m glad it shows. As for the thumbs down, anyone who puts themselves out there before the public will get some negative responses. I’ve learned to take no notice. Thanks
Crushing the tenor, great whiskey before breakfast
Thanks!
Lovely piece of music
Liam Oleary cheers!
Very enjoyable , ultra clean playing , great expression and great tone !
Bryan Wiley thanks
I keep coming back to this for another listen. Super. Still waiting on your banjo album....
Enjoying your songs and guitar work as well. Keep the videos coming.
BanjoFan Atic thanks!!

Beautiful song, anyone have tabs for this for the banjo.
I have been playing the bodhrán since June, and this piece of yours is one of my favorites with which to practice! Great sound, beautiful video, and a carefree feeling to accompany the rhythms. A crystal clear presentation, from start to finish. I hope you put out many more like this! Thank you!
triviatrap thank you that’s so good to hear!!

I COULD BE WRONG BUT I THINK THATS COUNTY WEXFORD.GREAT BANJO PLAYING BY THE WAY.

This is great!! My housemate has just bought a banjo and I'm getting instrument envy - what are the other instruments playing in the background of this video? They're fab accompaniments!!
Elinor Grey thanks. I’m playing all the instruments on this. As far as I remember I played Bass, Mandolin and guitar.
From Sardinia: Great Song, Great Banjo Player!😊
mablacol thanks!!
Ok that was excellent...
nodgelyobo1 thanks!!
real nice don't see to many banjo pickers using a pick but it's real nice and clean sound to Love hear more
George Smith - Tenor banjo is "traditionally" played with a pick. Five-string banjo is where fingerpicking and clawhammer are common, but not so much tenor banjos.
Excelente !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much for your reply. Again...great great stuff!
Class mate
Thanks!
Nice one rattle it Tim Cussen

Great song. Nice video!!
Brilliant! Thanks for sharing mate.
Dave Bolgert thank you

I have an old gold plated, engraved 1924 Vega hanging on my wall. I think I need to sell my 5-string and play it.
Merlyn Schutterle you can play both!!

Wow....
Brilliant man!
Fredrich Legnemark thanks!!
@@fergalohanlonmusic It's really inspiring. I've been trying to learn banjo for some time now but i cant wrap my head around the darn fifth string on mine, i've been playing guitar for too long. Perhaps i should try a four string, it seems to be more guitarish in it's setup.
Super !!!
this is bril mate,
Harold Corcoran cheers!
Hey. Wonderful playing! Who made that banjo and where can I get one?
Renaissance Ear-Candy it’s made by Clareen banjos in Galway. It’s a Setanta Nickel model. www.banjo.ie
Chipettes aaawwww
nádhera
Clareen, Setanta! Longing banjo
It’s great. if you can, get one!!
Not sure why this is call a bluegrass set since it’s not bluegrass and being played on a tenor banjo but sounds wonderful. Well done.
Hi Mark it’s an Irish tribute to some of my favourite Bluegrass tunes. It’s definitely not Bluegrass music it’s Irish banjo. Sometimes we’ll give sets of tunes a name
Great sound. Top stuff
Happy !!
You deserve more subs
Thanks
What tune is this? It sparked a memory and I can't recall why it feels familiar. I need the name of the tune xD
Sounding sweet! Enda Scaahill's band goes down this road on occasion.
Wayne Morrison thanks. It was Gerry O'Connor's playing that got me into playing American tunes
Fergal O'Hanlon He got Enda going as well. Enda told me it was Funk the Cajun Blues that first intrigued him.
Wayne Morrison yep. he changed everything.
