Honestly, I think the right move with a Darkstalkers revival might be maybe doing a VSav remaster, ish? Get some high quality spritework for all the assets, don't go 3D, it's going to be REAL HARD to make it work with this kind of thing, add a couple of stages, with their own songs and make it have the full cast, which has always been the kind of sad thing. Pyron, Huitzil and Donovan are missed. But yeah, I think a lot would rest on keeping the gameplay mostly as is (though maybe fix like, all the unblockables, lol). I think that'd be the way to kinda pave the stage for a "real new entry" if it was ever to be brought back (which... it should)
vsav is an incredibly hype game. it's a shame that the commentators either lack the technical knowledge or can't work well enough together to do it justice. by the end of loser's quarters i just wanted them both to stop talking. we don't need to hear about the particulars of the dog's reactions to Bulletta's evil face for the 4th time, we need breakdowns of matchups and character capabilities, hype moment callouts, you know, COMMENTARY. color is fine, but it needs to be balanced by technical commentary as well. the awkward handoffs and lack of technical commentary really hurt this set for me.
I miss the shorter combos and exchanges in older fighting games, strive is like a 2-3 touch game now, and there's so much neutral skip. We are going through a Renaissance in fighting games though, high quality games are being pumped out and doing crazy commercial numbers and becoming more accessible, but I definitely yearn for a time when fighting games had more back and forth and you needed more interactions to secure your win, there wasnt so many plus frames and attacks didnt eat up the whole screen
Vampire Savior is either the second or third fighter made by Capcom. It was designed to be rushdown heavy, and "horror" themed, which is why it has that aesthetic. This game came out in 1997, so it's not a "new" game. If you want a more neutral focused game, maybe 3rd strike might be better for you.
@DoctahDizzle no I'm comparing it to modern games like strive. Darkstakers does not have the neutral skip that modern fighters have is what I'm saying... Reread that. When I say I miss the shorter exchanges from older fighting games I am talking about this one. I am 40 lol, I've been playing darkstakers for decades at this point. You definitely misread something so if you need me to clarify something, just ask
I know the name of the channel is tampa never sleeps, but somebody's got to put James to bed. There's some top notch gameplay here and he just brings negative energy, rambling on about the same shit for the entire video, completely talking over incredible moments, and bringing nearly zero technical knowledge to boot.
Capcom needs to bring this back as an “anime fighter”, market it as a super fast, accessible for beginners but high ceiling for skilled players. It can be an alternative to SF6 for the larger FGC player base.
Man I miss this franchise and it's horror themed characters. Everything is getting a revival: Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, KOF, Killer Instinct. Even Dragonball Z. What happened to Darkstalkers? Man i Would love to see a new Darkstalkers game with high level hand drawn sprites like that of street fighter 6.
This game looks sick. I'd love to watch another tournament.
Amazing content. This game needs a new entry like yesterday.
What a great game to spectate, fun designs, crazy backgrounds, quick interactions! I'm so glad to see people still play Darkstalkers.
Love me some VSAV sets 💯
Love this game, would love to see more
ALRIGHT A REAL GOATED FIGHTING GAME EVER
@TampaNeverSleeps
PLEASE keep DarkStalkers3 as a weekly tournament TNS staff! 🙏
Let’s go Victor!
I love this game, good content.

This is AWESOME 🎉 please to have more tourneys for this as well as for Red Earth and Cyberbots
Sick love this game
This is a hot take, but I think if we want a modern game but with the same cartoonish charm, they'd have to outsource to Arcsys
This is not a hot take arcsys would cook so hard with a darkstalkers remake

YYYYYYYYEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!
Is there any tournament reason why the Japanese version is the one being played?
I love seeing Bulleta win, what an incredible character.
goated game
Vsav and James Chen on commentary? Christmas came early this year.
I LOVE the way Capcom handles scanlines...
