    Real masters on stage. 100 years from now, when music historians speak of musicians like these from the 1970's. This level of performance craft may be viewed like a lost dialect spoken by an extinct advance civilization. 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👍🏿🏆

    Don't go, Al....My GOD. This is one of the most difficult transitions of life I felt ins quite sometime. 02/17/2017 - The day jazz took pause. You my inspiration. You were my vocal mentor...A distant teacher. A source of tranquility. Your music a place to dwell. The ancestors welcome your arrival with songs of style, soul, grace and expression Rest in heaven, brother. You blessed us with "Alonzo", "We Got By", Spain, Take 5, and "Not like this" Along with soooooo many others.....I just want to say, thank you. You will be sorely missed...

    I just finished listening to one of Kurt Elling's German concerts all the while finding myself completely annoyed in listening to his singing style. Elling while having a good voice and a decent scat style, has not a great deal of range and absolutely no rhythm. So I had to find some Al to make up for what I was missing. It's like night and day listening to Jarreau compared to Elling. Al makes me happy, Elling was infuriating. I gave a Elling a shot but that's it.... never again!

    • @Sweetpjoe
      @Sweetpjoe 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheGallopman Your comment about Kurt Elling is interesting. Yes, he has a good voice but doesn't come close to Al Jarreau. While I like Kurt I can only take so much of him. He can be very hard on the ears after a while. His best album is The Messenger which was released in 1995 or so. Nothing he's done since then can compare. But I can listen to Al for hours on end and never get tired of listening to him. Look To The Rainbow is still my all time favorite release.
