"If you can't get internet at Google, something Bigger has gone wrong." I want to have that quote on every conceivable piece of merchandise, that is just great.
9:15 So here Matt says "chucks internet", and does some vague gesturing, implying he doesn't understand the technical details involved, and then he says packet, which is the technical term, which means he does understand, and doesn't care, which I find amusing.
+Mariopartyboy2 no point using technical jargon unless it's necessary! I always prefer to explain and understand things simply until more detail is needed! --Matt
Park Bench Bingo and/or Drinking Game ideas - someone is about to tell a story only for the story to be cut in hindsight - Rainbow comic sans (counts double if it's Matt's shoddy "I don't know how to do that" rainbow comic sans) - dogs in the background - the camera is about to run out of space or battery - giving themselves annoying editing jobs (b-roll, face teacking, using a lawn as a green screen) - it's not actually a park bench - mentioning domain names or phone numbers and it's actually a fun easter egg irl - "x diversions deep" "clunk clunk clunk" - swiping down and making the closing "Dernnnnng!!!" Noise... But it's not actually happening yet - a story from university is told - obscure British pop culture reference
"you realize what that's going to appear in" i was actually just playing this in the background, listening to the audio while i did other things, and i knew the answer. it was glorious.
starts with "oh i can tell that story now" and then cuts.. NOOOO... No i really want to know what the story was.. lol :D And.. you two rambling = fun to watch :)
One of the unsung features of buildings on pilings is that you can send some tech grunt crawling underneath trailing a cable behind him, linking through to the other side no matter what's going on indoors.
I enjoyed the live show and had fun voting. It would be great if you could do more live shows with your voting code, even something low key and less pro.
If you watch it further, at 22 mins he's referred to as Matto The Statto and is asked how many people have used the cable car in the time it took them to do one full loop!
Yep and if you scroll to the bottom it now has the audio file from the support line of that image from that video and the image will even appear fullscreen while Tom mentions "that image from this video"
Can you upload uncut Citation Needed? Obviously cut out some bits if they're absolutely terrible, but I would like to see that. Or maybe just longer episodes.
Yeesh., I've had a little experience with this kind of thing recently, having been streaming a series of drafting league matches, but thankfully it was relatively simple on my end. Unfortunately things still went wrong, namely participants being late in submitting teams, people struggling to join the voice chat, and the router I was using deciding to slow to a crawl during one of the streams. I can only imagine how much more difficult it must be with the scale you're working with :\
I know someone who works/worked on several live shows at the London Studios for a few years, and that "everything needs prep" is so true, but there's you can't always prep for accidents. For example, one time a thing that raises a curtain on stage broke down on Saturday Night Takeaway, and luckily the hosts ad-libbed something to cover that, but the announcers lines were pre-recorded and acted like the curtain had gone up.
Any chance of doing a special park bench or something within global radio, showing what matt gets up to on a daily basis? I think it'd be something really interesting to see.
We need them to have a podcast where half of the episodes are just the two of them, and the other half are all of the Technical Diff crew or other people they work with as seen in previous park benches.
I hosted a few events as "comic" or just a simple host. The biggest one was for like 700 people. Still never had prepared for a single one of those and I used to do live acting as well. It's super funny how my co-host had to prepare for me not remembering the scrypt. I just didn't have time to study it while in school so I just took some memorable moments and remembered their order. Everything in-between was just improvised. On that note. Do not do this. Things can go wrong and at some point they will. Both on your and maybe even the technical end when the crew is doing a poor job. I once had to scream for a 100+ audience because the mic was busted. Lovely times :D
As a person that has done audience coordination/recruitment in NYC, there are a LOT of shows that need audiences, most of them dreaded daytime TV show smut. For that I usually end up getting people in via bus where the budget allows.
I do live broadcasts every other day now during the pandemic. (I mean large TV-broadcasted concerts with tens of thousands of vewers) and all you said here nicely encapsulated most of the hustle with it. Realy good video.
Audience tickets in NY is just a matter of timing, late nights like Jimmy Fallon and Last Week Tonight sell out seconds after they're released (but they in are fairly small studios) but shows that film in larger venues almost always have tickets to give away if you check on their site the day they're let out. I've gotten to go to late night w Colbert, Seth Meyers, and jimmy Fallon, and then a couple of America's got talent tapings. If you look, there's almost always something available
So I've been watching this program for like a month now off of suggested videos and today I've finally subscribed...don't know why it took me so long, I rather like your content...I guess I was lazy?
Americans know what reconnaissance means! Well, some of us, anyway... I'll admit I've never heard of a "reccie" [sic?] though. It seems like there's a whole list of shortened catch words that Brits use that Americans haven't heard of - and that most of us probably wouldn't, either due to sounding a bit too "cute", or just for something we've never used as a term ("elevenses" comes to mind, if that's not a made-up one someone's told me as a joke). Though, I guess it's not news to say that "different countries use different slang," so what do I know.
I just did my monthly live event, it's an interesting one but I digress. I accidentally hooked up the wrong output off of the mixer to the streaming computer… It was working fine until we went on to the speaker for the day where I realized the live stream didn't have audio anymore because I had mixed-minus that ONE channel from the output I was using...... Then later I realized as I was packing up and unplugging things that I had 3 camera feeds + graphics coming in and one monitoring output over the network and the actual stream data going out .... over.... Wi-Fi because I forgot to plug the ethernet cable in! Which explained the stuttering that we got briefly going into session 2.
Well now I'm really interested in the removed story...
I should just start making a list of the stories Tom has edited out so I know what to ask about if I ever bump into him in a pub.
I was dying when I saw that slide and totally made up for the story.
i LOVE your channel
Holy Crap! Wendover watches Matt and Tom! And they're not talking about planes.
it was probably not about planes
Not just rainbow comic sans.
OFFCENTRE RAINBOW COMIC SANS.

"If you can't get internet at Google, something Bigger has gone wrong."
I want to have that quote on every conceivable piece of merchandise, that is just great.
"Usually the parts that are cut out are the parts you don't wanna see anyway" except for the 2 stories from this episode
The second flash might have something to do with the thing they did where they tried to get in the background of news broadcasts
@@AntonBagin
Except 1.) They filmed that and
2.) They made a whole video. about filming that.
"Story removed for legal reasons"
Damnit! D:
I hope you like off-topic discussions and tangents, because by heck we've got a load of that today! --Matt
They're at least 95% of my daily conversation!
The ramblier the better :D
Do you guys have a PO Box?...
I liked the version where the screen went blank and then the voices where out of sync better, unsubscribing ;)
Tom -- did you guys register that domain, or did someone else?
We love tangents and uncut rambles!
"story removed in hindsight for legal reasons" god I love these episodes.
9:15 So here Matt says "chucks internet", and does some vague gesturing, implying he doesn't understand the technical details involved, and then he says packet, which is the technical term, which means he does understand, and doesn't care, which I find amusing.

Yay Rainbow Comic Sans.
I don't absolutely hate Comic Sans if it is used well. You use it well.
That's true!
Aaaannndd that domain is already taken and directing to this video. Fantastic.
Also checked it. Bravo on that, whoever did it.
Went to check it too... nice one :-)
Well played, Internet.
Well they did have however long between shooting the video and publishing it to register it themselves
What is it
Aww, I wanted to hear the story. :(
Park Bench Bingo and/or Drinking Game ideas
- someone is about to tell a story only for the story to be cut in hindsight
- Rainbow comic sans (counts double if it's Matt's shoddy "I don't know how to do that" rainbow comic sans)
- dogs in the background
- the camera is about to run out of space or battery
- giving themselves annoying editing jobs (b-roll, face teacking, using a lawn as a green screen)
- it's not actually a park bench
- mentioning domain names or phone numbers and it's actually a fun easter egg irl
- "x diversions deep" "clunk clunk clunk"
- swiping down and making the closing "Dernnnnng!!!" Noise... But it's not actually happening yet
- a story from university is told
- obscure British pop culture reference
That would be brutal!
- Tom saying "We need to explain it to Americans"
It’s over there
Mentioning the ramble
"you realize what that's going to appear in"
i was actually just playing this in the background, listening to the audio while i did other things, and i knew the answer. it was glorious.
US military calls it "recon", but in TV or film Hollywood call it "location scouting".
Matt- You know what, we should get one of those windproof mics since it's windy af at the benches.
Tom- You don't think I'll need a coat, do you?
To keep things consistent, every story you have to remove for legal reasons, I'm going to mentally refer to them as "noodle incidents".
Oh my god the noodle incident!!
???

Haha, that's hilarious!
Best part is that it's maintained to this day.
6 years later and that site is still up. Unfortunately it was last updated in 2020 because the park bench ended
I misread the title as ruining live events
TheW3lshGamer that was Breaking the News.

There is nothing that cannot be solved by dropping XLR cables out of a window.
Andrew Joy do i ask?
this is suspiciously specific
One of the unsung features of buildings on pilings is that you can send some tech grunt crawling underneath trailing a cable behind him, linking through to the other side no matter what's going on indoors.
@@WyvernYT Probably named tech grunt because of the noises said person makes while crawling underneath a tight space of a building.
I enjoyed the live show and had fun voting. It would be great if you could do more live shows with your voting code, even something low key and less pro.
Matt at the begging of the ask Boris on the cable car is hilarious!
If you watch it further, at 22 mins he's referred to as Matto The Statto and is asked how many people have used the cable car in the time it took them to do one full loop!
I'm not sure if he's lost weight, or gotten a haircut, or if he just shaved really well today... But Matt is looking GOOD!
Now, a live broadcast Park Bench! :D

And it still does, 6 videos on there now.
Yep and if you scroll to the bottom it now has the audio file from the support line of that image from that video and the image will even appear fullscreen while Tom mentions "that image from this video"
Still up as of April 2019 :-)
I'm getting caught up on Matt and Tom, and love their rambles.
this site gives me a list of some of the best rambles

ramblyasfuck.com leads back here.
Perfection.
I'm getting an error message, but I'm guessing that sums the story up

snapchat, probably.

One thing I would say if you ever do this again is announce more in advance in more methods.

Debatable is also the name of a Buzzfeed series I think... Questionable is a great name anyway :)
FergieTheSeagull BuzzFeed and ClevverTV have series called _Debatable_

12:22 killed me :D I absolutely adore u Matt :D
In this episode- [REDACTED]
Loved Questionable, shame you never did it again!
I watched the original version but just to be a courteous fan I shall let it play again, because views mean...things. Great work!
Slightly disappointed that you didn't realise a technical reccy would become a techy reccy
If you popped into a cafe for breakfast before your technical reconnoissance, it would be a techy reccy brekkie.
Repping Trent Park. Love it.
My guess of the removed story was stealing someone else's Internet connection to upload
So I've been watching this program for like a month now off of suggested videos and today I've finally subscribed...don't know why it took me so long, I rather like your content...I guess I was lazy?
god matt's confusion face is so awesome.
I loved the live show so much - it was fantastic!
oh wow
+Philip Methley ah wow oh wow OH WOW
The “Tom-brrr” line absolutely made me chuckle 😁
Ha ha, you can see Matt waving to the camera at the start of the Boris interview! :)
I think he's counting down, not waving.
Oh god I want Matt's job!! I love technology and I love an unlimited budget!
Talking of OB's URY are currently doing a 101 hour OB!
Came here for the rambling, stayed for the daily show shade
The website mentioned in this is cute af tbh
I would love it if Matt asks Tom to edit or mentions editing, and Tom just goes "What's editing? *innocent face*"

the removed story was about when tom went on robot wars and met craig charles and chaos 2 driver george francis

I've just noticed a similarity between Matt and SovietWomble.
hi matt and tom I really love your vids plz could you do some more of the live games they are awesome

Tom needs a weather app.
Damn, it took less than half an hour for someone to grab that domain. And it's not even doing anything ATM.
it now links to this video.
recky..... we call them site survey's in ontario canada!
What about live park bench!?
People who know what Rally is know what Recce is!
can't believe someone actually made that website...
Your show would sell out, I'm sure! Please let me know how I can see Citation Needed Live!
white flash? I miss the black flash
Will Citation Needed Live be broadcast live, or at least posted on TH-cam?
When you're telling the internet a story but you remember what happened was illegal
Why does Matt remind me of Samwell Tarly?
Because your brain associates both ideas
Could you please up the frequency of these. They don't even have to be good to your standards. They are good enough for me!
RIP to a real one
Let's get ready to ramble!
A year later and the website it still up.
Someone registered it
Removed for legal reasons? Or because Tom didn't fancy editing it... 😛
Was that flash in relation to breaking the news?? 😅
Ramble more
