Iloilo City is a good place to retire actually...clean environment and people are super cool and nice..❤
I agree. I really like it there.
Chris you're killing it man! looking good, stay busy, food was cheap and lookin' delish as usual. stay safe. Peace!
Really appreciate it brother. Here’s a 2024 :-)
Hi Chris, Iloilo just made it to our very, very long list of places to visit in Pinas 😄
That soup looks very similar to a Tagalog soup called Tinola. And I will tell you yes, it is delicious. My family here loves it except we don't have green papayas here so I use chayote which I believe is in the squash family.
We can hardly wait to go back home. We're all very eager to go back to Pinas.
Looking forward to more of your videos. Ingat.
Hey Jessica. I absolutely loved Iloilo. Great small town vibe with just enough to do.
Hope all is good there with you and the family there and hope you make it home soon:)
You seems nice please continue doing so. Ilonggo Locals are really nice if they feel you’re nice. I’ve seen some bloggers say bad things about Philippines and other provinces and its not nice watching those blogs. If any foreigners are looking for girls to date for a short time then Iloilo is not that place. Go somewhere else . Iloilo is a place for family and locals made it that way.
I agree. Looks like a great place to find a wife or long term relationship
Not for Players.......
Iloilo is definitely not for players, Ed. You're right on with your assessment
Agree
Hello sir! Looks like you are enjoying life in our beloved country (Philippines). Just want to make a comment on the soup 🍲 that you've had in Mesa Restaurant , the name of the vegetable that you've ordered is called Chayote squash. Chayote squash is technically a fruit, but is eaten like a vegetable originally from Mexico. Mesa is my favorite restaurant as well. I wish there's Mesa Restaurant here in California. Enjoy b'coz life is too short. 😅
Thank you so much. I had no idea what I was eating, but knew that I liked it :-). Hope you make it back home soon.
Iloilo the place with just enough to do without getting bored cool place!!!!
Exactly
Nice one Chris! 👍
Keep an eye out for the Mesa locations in the SM malls in Cebu City! Same chain & same great food!
Yeah man. I was seeing it was a chain throughout all SM malls. I really enjoyed it. Hope all is good for you:)
You're in your best form ever! Life over there must suit you to a T. What a gift!
Best . . .
Really appreciate it brother. Hope you’re good there too.
Cool meal with the coconut.
Yes it was!
I want to try living in Cebu first, but Iloilo is someplace that I may check out if Cebu does not work out
I agree. Cebu City is a great place to start. Once you're here check out other options.
Yes, Mesa is a very good restaurant.
Yes. I’m a fan too.
Don't beg FOR coffee, just do your job! at least someone is watching YOU!! you're not a beggar OK!!!
My job? I'm retired and the channel cost me money. You have a limited point of view.
@SURVIVE IT IS POSSIBLE- Hey now, you need to understand that “buy me a coffee”, super chats, patreon, etc is all part of the TH-cam hustle of e-begging to generate revenue. Someone that is truly retired & properly funded doesn’t waste their time making TH-cam videos hoping to make some money. If the channel actually costs Chris money as he stated then that is a bad financial decision. Why would anyone post videos at their own expense simply to entertain strangers without expecting some type of benefit?
Hey @survive it is possible. You must be that too ignorant with youtube. Even those big time youtubers are doing that hustle which is buy me a coffee, or patreon for any requests. Stupid. Dont watch if you are one of those youtuber haters. Take note that filming for a day costs a lot of effort, time and money. Dont you know that? Yet, these vloggers might not be getting sufficient amount of pay unless they a million subscribers, millions of views and sponsors.
You might be one of those who have been kneeling down with those yputubers who has been raking tons or money because of your views.
If you envy them, why dont you create your own channel, and see for yourself, how painful it will be to start a channel, from video editing to thinking of a content daily. Idiot
Jo has told her friends the reason she left, she got tired of eating noodles.
But they're so lami:)
Jo is cute enough to pull a guy with enough money to eat well instead of settling for noodles all of the time.
@@NotDavidBond for sure. Incredible lady and wish her the best
I just realized that the reason I like your videos is because your life is relatively drama-free. In other words, you came prepared, no whining, just living life, and enjoying your retirement. And that’s what people want to see! Show them how it’s done!!! 😁👍👍 ☮️ ❤️
Thank you. I really appreciate your comment.
I saw Chris's channel the first time when they did a dance Tiktok of his former gf, I'm not a Tiktok fan but YT recommended their dance😂. I honestly don't watch his vlogs till I saw he's coming to see my hometown Iloilo😅.
Hi Cris, consider yourself fortunate to be in sunny Phillipines while we are scraping ourselves out of the ice box here in the usa…there’s been record snow storms these last few days ❄️❄️🥶
Hey I was wondering why some places in Phillipines are named twice such as Iloilo, or Lapulapu :)
Anyways, I hope you’re doing well and putting out more of these travel videos..although I do miss seeing Jho. She made you look good!! and who knows, perhaps someday you’ll get back together. You make a great team even though I don’t think either of you know it yet …nice people end up getting together 🤣
Cheers,
Ben
I just saw a new flash about the weather there. Stay warm.
Jo is truly incredible. No question. I wish her the best
go back and take a look at the Leyte video you did together..Jo adored you Chris…can’t help wondering if you missed that about her :)
Anyways I’m traveling to Davao for the first time in March . Have you been? Any tips?
Thanks
Magical moments for sure. A lot that didn’t work though too, for both of us. I’m still confident we’re better off not being in a relationship.
mesa in english is table and it's a chain restaurant as their spread around philippines. good filo food but a little bit pricey
Yeah, it was pretty good
Not too bad pricewise. The meal I got was for two. Couple bucks per person which isn’t bad.
MESA , super yummy foods there! I went there last year 😄just a bit of expensive but it's worth it! The next time you go back to SM City Iloilo, try "Kuya J's" halo2 👌
So good and thanks for the tips:)
@@CarefreeChris You're welcome!
Subbed after seeing you on Regular Guy PH
Thanks man. Hope to run into Scott while he’s out here
Da... buddy.😮 you couldn't stop and have a chat with the ladies there selling stuff.... I mean, come on, buddy, share the beauty there for us poor souls stuck in the U S.
lol brother
Life is too short indeed! You should meet up with “ that Philippines life”
Would have loved to met up with M & B.
Great vid!! Maybe when I’m there I shouldn’t plow through the Siomai Chao Fan family platter, good for four 😂 Texas Roadhouse meals would be good for like 8 there. Your sabaw looks very lami!!
Sounds good:)
Thanks for bringing us along.
Is there a tipping culture there when going out to eat or using local services, i.e. transportation?
Thanks for watching. As far as the tipping culture it is not. I usually leave 50 pesos for most restaurants and 20 to 50 pesos for taxi rides.
Yes I got up to 800 when I worked at delivery services
You have to look at your receipt or bill to see if there is a "Service Charge" or SV added, if none then it's up to you to tip.
I just leave 50 Ed regardless if there's a SC or not. I like simplicity:)
I agree with Chris. We'd normally would leave 50 pesos for a tip in restaurants. Or a higher amount if you're with a larger group.
uncle hank's living the life huh
lol right
Hey Chris, I'm curious of the humidity and the temperature during that day. I'm trying to see if I can take the heat. Lol. I'm currently in eastern North Carolina. I'll be watching 👍🏻
Hey Jim. The weather is really similar to Florida. Maybe a little cooler. It also depends on where you’re at
@@CarefreeChris Really? Ok then. It can get pretty humid in North Carolina. I guess I'll be just fine. Thanks Chris
Chicken Binakol is "Namit".😋
Yes! Live it
STOP!!! Chris, Iloilo is a secret!!!! Don't spoil it with more expats lolol
I hear you man. I really do and I’m sorry.
I've read comments too in other channels about Iloilo they don't want foreigners to come in Iloilo sooo funny😂
@@KATHERINE-so5dithat's not true maam,u are all welcome in the city of love iloilo city.
@@ayesera9924 I'm Ilongga😅
@@KATHERINE-so5diIm a local in Iloilo...they are welcome to visit anytime...but not to to stay...LOL...
Food looks great! Is the tap water safe?
No it is not unfortunately. Here I'm drinking what's called Service Water which is safe in most chain restaurant. You do not want to drink unfiltered water like out of your faucet.
Chris, you are wearing sunscreen, right? If not, please do and wear a sun hat as well.
Yes. Don't want to bake my melon:)
It doesn't really help there around 11 to 1 pm, got so burned with 50 block.
were is you GF did you break up ?
Yeah, we broke up a while ago.
Chicken Binakol it's a delicious Ilonggo soup eaten with rice. Chicken cooked in coconut juice.
It’s super lami:)
I have had that soup in iloilo, it is not good to eat. American soup is better from back home. But I will retire in iloilo, I will stay in iloilo . I have my pension from America . I choose to be in iloilo even though it’s dirty and smelly.
Chris asking for rice is proof he's becoming Filipino 😂
lol love it
Buntag
Yes. My own buntag or as they say there, my own aga:)
Did you and Jo break up ?
Yeah. We split up a while ok.
RIP Jack. Loved him on 3's company.
The garlic chicken there is the best
I’m a fan of the restaurant for sure
