- Nyayo Estate is a gated community in Embakasi, a suburb of Nairobi, Kenya. It is approximately 18 kilometers (11 miles) by road southeast of the central business district of Nairobi. Built from 1999, with six phases by 2014, it is the largest housing project in Kenya and second largest in Africa.
The estate was conceptualised by the national government in 1998, through the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), targeting the middle-class segment. Building of Phase 1 began in 1999. Nyayo has a total of six phases, with over 4,700 units of semi-detached three bedroom maisonettes and apartments; complemented with nursery and primary schools, and shopping centres.
Nyayo Estate is a popular choice for middle-class Kenyans looking for affordable housing in a safe and secure community. It is a vibrant and growing community that offers a variety of amenities and services.

This Estate, Mountianview and Kitisuru were all developed by NSSF during the Moi era by Mugoya Construction Company, and are one of the major example of usage of prefabricated panels in construction
