  • G'day everyone! Land based fishing makes catching a feed of fish accessible for almost everyone. It can be so relaxing and enjoyable to walk the sand flats casting some lures or live yabbies across the shallows.
    In today's video, we are land based fishing around the Sunshine Coast, catching whiting and flathead on yabbies at both Maroochydore and Caloundra. Along the way we give you plenty of tips so that you know how to catch whiting and flathead when you head out there yourself!

    Nothing like catching a few good fish off the beach. And nothing beats an Alvey off the beach.

      You’re 100% right there mate! The Alveys are perfect for the bread and butter fishing, and super fun to use as well. It’s such relaxing, fun, and affordable fishing land based in the estuaries. Tight lines 😁👍

      @@willkitching You’re inspiring me to get down to a beach and have a go. The Magbream and Alvey haven’t been out since this year’s K’gari trip months ago. Tight lines.

      Thanks MrCods! Yes we had to walk a fair way to find some yabby holes, but we got some fairly easily in the end which was good. It was definitely a cool place to fish and stand in the nice cool water. Thanks for the support as always mate, tight lines!

      Thanks heaps Flippa, I’m glad you enjoyed mate! It definitely wasn’t a ‘red hot’ session, but we picked up enough for a feed so that’s always great. Tight lines and I’m sure I’ll see you again sometime toon! 👍🎣

      Yes for sure mate! It’s always fun chasing hard fighting fish up in the shallows. You’d definitely love fishing with an Alvey 😉👍 Yes I’ll definitely be chasing some of those big buggers at some point in my life, they look unreal (and tasty too!). Thanks for the support as always and I hope you’re doing well 🙌

    That was a nice little session Will.
    I haven't been to the new bar as yet and was wondering how it would fish.
    Pretty good by the looks. 👍

      Thanks heaps Terry! Yes it was definitely an eye opener, I couldn’t believe how much it has changed and how much sand has been moved around up there by the ocean breaking through. The fish weren’t thick on this day, but you could definitely pick off a nice feed of whiting and there were plenty of flathead around too. 😁

    Merry Christmas Will, great vid as always 😊 Quick question for the whiting king's, is it worth fishing for whiting after all this rain and dirty water or waste of time?

    Nice vid. What rod did you have what looked like an Alvey on?

    • @willkitching
      @willkitching  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi mate, thanks for the comment! Yes that’s an Alvey, an older one that’s been passed down through generations. The rods are Jarvis Walker Black Queens, these are also old rods and have been passed down through generations. You can keep and eye out as these rods still pop up at garage sales and online (places such as gumtree, marketplace, etc). They get picked up pretty quickly though; they’re very popular and they are perfect for this style of fishing!!
      Give them a google and see what pops up, these rods are older than me.
      I think Jarvis Walker do still make ‘Black Queens’ but I’m not sure how similar they are to these older versions. They have a nice soft tip and they are nice and long which is great. Thanks for the comment and tight lines, hopefully you can find a few mate! 👍🎣
