Long before the first bicycle ever rolled this trail and the public became anti motorcycle we rode up and down this jewel for years. Truly an exceptional experience. We accessed it from Hiway 154, Barger Canyon and North Ridge cutting through Rancho Vista Del Mundo when the old gal still lived in the Adobe ranch house. She was the sweetest! When taking the road toward 154 we would stop at the Cascade on the West fork of San Antonio Creek and slide down the rock face or sit in the pool above it. I often think of riding down from the saddle on East Camino Cielo to the old road bed and back up for old times sake. One day.
@@boblatkey7160 because you can break traction and drift by leaning the bike over and pushing hard with your heels. Doing it that way keeps the rear wheels spinning and does less damage to the trail than just skidding around a corner.
@@boblatkey7160 skidding definitely does do damage. It creates breaking bumps and ruts, which are the worst kinds of corner conditions. Your can get out there and have fun without making it less fun for others. Doing a little trail maintenance here and there doesn't negate your responsibility to ride in a considerate manner.
Man, you guys are really showing how many awesome trails there are in the mountains behind SB. Before you guys I had only ever really heard of Knapp's Castle. I'll have to check some of these trails out myself!
@@2025.yamaha.R1 I've since left California, so I cant update on current standing. I see a lot of Strava traffic on Romero and San Ysidiro. Cameusa is a masterpiece. Best ask a local at this point.
@@2025.yamaha.R1 Romero is an easy climb, can shoot off 4mi or go 6mi to the top. Arroyo burro backside is about the same but can be shuttled. For shuttling my group typically does San Ysidro, Cold Springs, Tunnel, Knapps 2-3 times then Arroyo burro backside. Tequipes is great fun, quite a steep climb though out by the lake. For loops you ~10-15mi long, Camuesa, 19 Oaks, Santa Cruz. There isn't too much more that's fun IMO. Thousand Oaks IMO is where it's at for good in-n-outs.
Not the rider in question but for your own safety never look at the front tire, always just look forward especially if you're going fast, its the only way you have time to react to obstacles.
I almost passed out on this trail bc it was 100 degrees and I had no water and barely ate before... also was not prepared for all the tech and uphill lol
Just a heads up regarding this trail. Frontside is great for the first 2 miles (blue rating) and then there is a MAJOR 1/4 to 1/3 mile hike a bike and climb that is an ass-kicker. It totally ruins the entire experience. After the brutal hike a bike...the trail becomes a double black...that ends before you know it. Then you are on a dirt road. ZZZZZ. Riding the last 2 miles on a freakin' dirt road...and then onto a paved road road. Overall, this is not a DH ride..it is 35% climbing and 65% downhill, but a lot of that downhill is dirt road and paved road. If you really want a great DH ride, I recommend Arroyo Burro BACKSIDE, instead.

Great riding as always, but what an ending.
Absolute rippers! I was just told about this trail, hear it’s in great shape. I can’t to do it next week! I
that washed out part of the trail very sketchy.. one slip u done. awesome..
This was totally sick!
Looks like a sweet trail!
The hike a bike, and doubletrack make it a try-once, but do backside instead kinda trail.
I rode those trails back in the eighties on my funky Schwinn cimmaron . I think 1980s MTBs are now called Gravel Bikes 😂
Sweet vid and trail. I don't usually comment like this but it would be cool if the dude in red didn't "drift" every corner with his rear brake.

Fookin Sick riding as always!!...Is that trail easy to find guys? I definitely wanna hit it! Keep it roll’ n guys!
Pedal strike nightmare fuel. This trail looks like a blood pumpin good time.
Rad video, the speed in which you attack the trail is legit. Where do you focus your eyes at? Front tire, 5ft ahead, etc.

Were do you park?
Where do you park?
Love you guys
What happened to you guys you don’t post anymore videos
sick trail, how did you guys do this? leave a car at the end and park another car at the top where you started the trail?
That’s how the usually do things haha, shuttle boyzzzz
I was wondering what gave this trail the double black rating on Trailforks... then I saw the chunky stuff.
Is this rideable in a loop somehow?
Great video as usual! What coil are you running on the Altitude?
Matt Love looks like an X-Fusion H3C
Hell yeah I live in Ventura County
Rad!
Next time we'll show you CS and Romero
Are you trying to show us the trail, or show off your biking skills?
I feel the need...
I kept waiting for one of those California mountain lions to pop out and eat you guys lol

Is the backside shuttle accessible ?
@@rangerat4200 yes. Your shuttle pick up can wait for you on Paradise Road just outside the guard shack of the Romero RV Park.
Hell yeah, the only sketchy part is I guess you go through a shooting range towards the end. According to trail forks
@@rangerat4200 hmmm...i never saw one or heard anything. Btw...when u get to the fork in the trail....go left
1/3 of a mile is not a major HAB. And you can finish this one with the end of Jesusita.
