Brian - SB local, here. Yeah, Tequepis is a great one! For locals - you can semi-shuttle Tequepis by starting at the end of West Camino Cielo, and riding west out the fire road along the top of the ridge to the (top) trailhead. Best views in the area the whole way An even better trail - do *backside Arroyo Burro.* Similar feel, longer, a little gnarlier and more varied (you miss some of the great views of Tequepis, but still gorgeous). You can start at the top, and then ride back up the fireroad. For a great 11 mile loop, do Camuesa Connector. Most of the trails in the area are in great shape. Sage Trail Alliance has been working them - thanks to them!
I did AB backside for the first time recently. It was a ton of fun. Has some really sketchy huck through rock gardens at speed. But that's what makes it great. Looking forward to riding it again.
@@Cassienope Well done! You're braver than me. There were one or two of those that I stepped over. (To others: there are only a few short super-sketchy sections. It's very rideable - and fun - even if you're not a total "sender"!)
Fun to watch a ride down a trail I have done many times over the years. I haven’t seen you do any trails around Morro bay at Montana de Oro! Some fun flowy trails there. Check them out on your next trip to the central coast!
Rode this trail about 7 years ago, got really bad Poison Oak all over my arms and legs, trail does not look much different from when I rode it. Great Vid!
One of my favorite trails! Cool vid man Re: hikers not knowing you're there - it's Santa Barbara etiquette to wear a trail bell for this purpose! It makes life so much easier for both parties :)
That's one of the best riding videos, and best rides for you, in awhile. I was thinking of your Spain videos before you mentioned it. I can smell, taste and feel the California dry sunshine and the cool shady parts. That was a beautiful day, very jealous, thanks for sharing.
you killed that trail! thats my go to trail cuz I just live 10 minutes away in Santa Ynez! that upper part from the ridge to the radio towers is called Beer Run.you could have ridden up the dirt road but what fun is that. great video!
I use gloves with velcro closures and attach them to my helmet so I never forget them. Great video and looks like a fun decent, time to get out and see the state and ride..
Great job B, One of my favorite trails, some of the kids around there descend those like they have death wish. Footage looks really clean but, no lie when you were using the hero 3 and that setup, was some of your best footage and sound. 👍👍👍
Kinda surprised you don’t already use a bell. I was never a fan of bells do to their constant annoying “belling” until I discovered the Timber bell, couple years ago, which can easily be turned off and on. It really has made a big difference when coming across other trail users particularly hikers. They here you coming and are usually well off the trail as you go by. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard “love you’re bell” “thanks for the bell”. Nobody’s spooked, everybody’s appreciative and happy (well most everybody, there’s always going to be some sad sap no matter what) Continue to still be surprised at the positive responses. Clear to me that having a bell may very well narrow the divide between hikers and bikers.
Sorry if repeating what's been said, but you can stay on El Camino Cielo (fire road) once you hit the top and take it all the way to the radio tower. Then you ride the last sketchy part that you pushed up, down. It's pretty clear from the map if you know that's what you need to do.
So it’s Lake Cachuma. I wish I’d had known you were here Brian. New Trek Trails is right there off the dirt road you drove up at the Rancho Alegre Scout Camp. I coach the Santa Ynez Valley NICA Team and he had our practice at Cachuma on a course we built there this afternoon. Many of our team members follow you. We could’ve shown you the NICA Course and the culvert to get from Cachuma to Tequepis/Trek Trails. Are you still around? We’re holding a trail work day on Feb 27th at Cachuma to dial in the course for the SoCal League finals in April.
Expecting my new ride sometime in April. Would like to try some Trail1 items for sure, nice job on the pricing and big fan of giving back on purchases. Idea for new item, a non plastic water bottle that DOESN’T leak!! Enjoy watching trails ridden that are above my pay grade 😂
trail, i dub thee 'death by shrubbery' also; amazing positivity throughout man also; my brakes keep making that cicada noise - I'm always trying to re-bed... is that just me?
Hi, I am from Germany, and always watching your great videos, like it very much👍 I have a question…. For business reason, I have to go for 3 Month to St. Louis area…. I will carry a bike with me🤣👍 I checked at Trail forks, looks like is not a so bad area for biking… Would you agree with this? All kind of information are highly welcome👍 Thanks so much, greetings from🇩🇪 Dietmar
Please wear a bell when riding singletrack in Santa Barbara. They are essential for keeping these multi-use trails open for mountain biking which the local community has fought very hard to do. There should be bell boxes located at the trailhead of most of the trails here. With such a large platform it would be better to have set a good example with a bell so even though its annoying to hear for youtube.
So, I'm curious, if you're riding on such a tight trail, known for use by bikers AND hikers, why not have a bell that constantly rings on the way down to warn those coming up, because at the speeds you were doing and all the blind corners, there's no way you'd be able to stop in time if you did happen upon some hikers as you came around one of those blind corners?
You talked about the GoPro 10. I didn't think the quality of the video was that great. The only thing in focus were your bars and stem. Maybe that's the plan? Haha. I know it's not. Still will continue to enjoy your videos. Ride something new.
@@dougjunebennett9962 Great question. When you hear a bike coming get out of the middle of the trail and get to one side or the other. When in groups don't split up and go to both sides. All go to one side. When a bike is coming up from behind and saying coming up one side don't ignore them and be ignorant about it. As many bad bikers there for sure is an equal share of bad hikers. We just love the hikers who hate bicycles and lay boobie traps and screw-up trails for everybody. And those same people never come out and help trail crews work on the trails making them nice to use.
Man you gotta be nuts doing that steep loose decent at the top without gloves...hell I wouldn't even do that without pads. If you are in your 30s or 40s, bones start to break even with lighter crashes...as I've discovered ;p
My dad used to hold the record for the biggest trout out of that lake.
Fish stories
brian, your monologue is gold! so many things you just randomly talk about… i’m internally thinking about. thanks for another entertaining video

Awesome dude, I was literally looking for trails near Santa Barbara!
Setting at home recovering from my second Vitrectomy surgery in 7 months. Thank you and your videos for getting me through the morning 👍

Don’t forget to bring a bike bell next time! That trail gets speedy in areas, quite a few hikers if it’s a nice day. Very enjoyable video 👍

That trail is full of poison oak. No gloves!!!

i switched from larges to a medium bike recently as well. i absolutely love the change.
Been a bit since I have been on that one. My go to ride there is Little pine. After the ride a stop at cold springs tavern is mandatory.

Just did this trail 2 weeks ago in winter shape. The climb is huge. About 2,500 feet and it’s relentless.
I use gloves with velcro closures and attach them to my helmet so I never forget them. Great video and looks like a fun decent, time to get out and see the state and ride..
"Lake Chumash" ? Pretty sure it's Lake Cachuma.

Some of the best riding Ive ever seen you do…
bro so amazing watching the nature and you with your bike in it
Awesome ride!!!! Please get some shirts made that say "Oh yeah exfoliate those knuckes" 😂🤣 I'll definitely be getting one 💯😂🤣
This looks so fun, Kentucky doesn't even compare
So many great places to ride in California....some day I'll get over there and explore! For now..hanging out in Florida.

Nice to see you are into VR Brian
Looks like a family trip to me!
I love the views! I had some issues with my GP 7’s. Never had issues with the older cameras, constant issues with the new stuff.

@@Cassienope yeah after my post I figured as much. We had some hot and awesome SoCal days in January 😂
Perfect timing, I'll be Santa Barbra in 2 weeks and was looking for places to ride!
Romero, Jesusita, and West Fork are a few other really good ones to check out

This is on my bucket list to do I live in sb camuesa trail too
Local Trail - so good!
You’re a very skilled rider try tunnel trail the most difficult chunky trail in Santa Barbara
You oughta come to SLO again!
Love liquid Iv as well, loved the ride
Heck yeah man! My backyard. While at worldwide I could gladly show you the best in Newbury Park!
I see you back to your old habit of thumbs over the bars 😂😂😂
Get a bell on that bike hikers love it.
What would be cool is to see how long it took you to climb and then go down on each video :)
What incredible riding this was sick you was flying down that trail 🚀🚀🚀 what breaks and rotors do you run?
Staying at campground do give you good ideas, rv park are just crazy there like pros, they know how to camp
Just did a third of this trail and it was tough steep and very loose
What cranks do you have? Love the look of them
Do you ever worry about that GoPro chesty? Many stories people falling and landing chest first on the ground and that mount breaks all their ribs.
Hi Brian... What tire are you using in the front brand, design and size? Thanks for replies.
I would love to see trail 1 components on QBP. I think it would be a great way for the company to expand. Plus then I can get discounts :)
Awesome trail!
I think Romero might be a more enjoyable ride

So Much Poison Oak LOL @BKXC
looks like no trail maintenance done in a long time.

You should totally get hand guards 😁

What is the most dangerous ride you've ever ride ?
Careful with the VR headset in the sun. It can fry the screen.
😍😍😍😍💛
First comment! Damn I wish I had mountains were I live. There’s always road-trips though. Smh 🤦♂️
I live an hour from this trail, and never heard of it! Looks awesome
7:47 its like gta 5
i gladly will, rias gremory
Yikes...sketchy exposure!
💪💪💪👏👏👏
Be careful using your oculus outside in the sun. If your not careful enough, you can destroy the screen and make it unusable.
Nice😋

Not as smooth demo flow trail, but great views!
Smooth trails are boring anyway
Ever consider getting a trail dog?
😯😎🔥😅
That's why we use cowbells. common courtesy for hikers even though so many hikers are brainless about common courtesy to bikers.
What is the courtesy expected of hikers?

Why don't you wear gloves?
