Is there any way to add gears to make the lever more effective with less force input

We had an old kick press when I was a tool and die maker back in the 70's and it worked good, you could get up close at point of operation. It used a linkage similar to bolt cutters. I've been designing metal stamping dies for over forty years and trust me you can reduce the tonnage by grinding off that point on the punch. I always laugh when I see them, they are good for a visual, not friendly when it comes to tonnage reduction. Grind shear or better yet... inside crescent (arc) with the apex 1/3 the material thickness. Use 14% per/side die clearance and you can reduce your tonnage by 50%. You need chrome vanadium die spring or Urethane will also work for stripping the punch... Good luck.!!

that is a very strong built tool, yes the virus is bad and the panic over it is bad too, with people buying up all the toilet paper,, for what reason I still don't understand.

I shop at Costco, so I have a six month supply of TP on hand anyway. What got me was bottled water. I'm in California and the fertilizer companies got together with the ADA and the criminal politicians and made a law to fluoridate the water. Fluoride is a byproduct of fertilizer manufacturing and if it had no value would be considered toxic waste. In creating a market for it, their toxic waste became a medical treatment that is foisted upon the entire state. As a result, I don't drink the water. I won't even boil pasta with tap water.
