I mostly shoot Osprey, Red Kites so fast moving objects but cannot get the eye AF to lock on at distance, even when they are stationary. What settings were you using re AF and case? I know the R5 MKII is a definite upgrade to the R5 AF but I'm pretty sure the R5 should lock on at distance using an RF70-200MM F2.8L?

In Europe Canon chargers have a cord so you can buy a European charger if you want with a cord. I have all my charges on a power strip on my bookshelf so I can just pop in batteries when needed,
Based on what I heard, R5ii Dr should be worse since R5ii uses a stacked sensor. It is similar to Z6iii partial stacked sensor. If you want image quality, stick with R5. If you want speed, get R5ii.
BSI DR improvement is not enough, stacked still has a stronger DR penalty unless Canon bakes in stronger NR reduction in the RAW files than it might be better. It's why the Z7 has better DR than the Z8.

I am definitely looking forward to the full review. I am no 3 on my regional shop’s preorder list. I have and will keep my R6 Mii. An R5 will become my first body and my R6 will become my second body. Can’t wait to hear an opinion about who should buy a Mi vs a Mii depending on their use case. My primary interest is wildlife which is often shot in relatively low light but I also like architecture, landscapes and cityscapes. I travel a lot so space and weight means slower lenses too.
I always hate that the camera straps come with branding on them. I just like to be low key, so I never end up using the strap, even though they are nice.
Since the battery has been upgraded, yet reportedly the old batteries are still compatible (with performance limitations), can you say whether the charger has been updated? Can I charge R5 batteries in the R5mkII charger? Can I charge R5mkII batteries in an R5 charger?
No justifying any cameras lack of a charger with saying it’s ok you can plug it into usb C. Sometimes I have used my camera quite a bit, I don’t want to have to stop using my camera to charge a battery, I wanna grab a charged battery and get going and slap the other one on the charger. Not to mention you wear out that stupid port. I understand this one comes with a charger BUT it’s shameful a lot of brands are excluding chargers.
I hate this idea of removing chargers in gadgets. It's possible Xiaomi is gaining market share coz they give you 120w charger whilst other phone manufacturers are removing it
as long as there is an option where the one without accessories is cheaper (obviously). So if you're someone that buys 3 or 4 of these you don't always need all the other crap and if that saves me some cash when i bulk buy then nice.

Which is a shame, since it's still faster to look up something on a paper manual that is handy/laying around than that of a pdf on a phone.
Can we get more info about R5 mark II body size speciations. How much larger is it then mark I? I’m asking because I have a full camera cage, with grips and everything else for the R5 mark 1 that also fits my EOS R6 mark ii and I’m trying to find out if it will fit the R5 mark II as well.

Jared, can you do a motorcycle race test with the new mk2, as iv found the mk1 to be less than outstanding & the hit rate was about 2 in 10. Yes the camera was set to AI SERVO & also was set to non electronic shutter as it was worse in that mode too. Also because in filled the cards up far to quick when you cant even feel or hear it & cant turn down the amount of shots you would prefer to take. But all in all id like to know how the new focus lock locks on to a motorcycle at high speeds. All the best & thank you if you could do this.
@@tavarislong2709 network. the basic grip with no network can work with the R5 the other two (fan and network) do not. dumb since there is no reason why the one with network should have been made to work with the R5. especially since there ios no real option for the R5 from canon. the old network grip for the r5 is worthless. only uses 1 of the two batteries, no native wall adapter and is $1000!! lol. anyway. network is the third option you were missing

JARED!!! I need your help, please. In about 5 weeks I'll be purchasing either an R3 or an R5II. I have an R8 and have been wanting the higher 45 MP of the R5, but my understanding is that it doesn't do as well with sports. l'm upgrading camera bodies in September and have been mainly considering the R3 or now the R5II now that it's out and are comparable in price ($4k for the R3 brand new currently at B&H, $4,299 for the R5II + I always use a battery grip so we're talking around $4,500). I'm still currently leaning towards the R3, waiting for more hands-on reviews with the R5II. My main interest is shooting people; I've recently shot a niece's engagement, wedding and reception photos, a nephew's Prom photos of 5 couples, family photos, portraits, etc. This all obviously had me leaning towards the R5 (or R5II now). And while I honestly have been quite satisfied with results of the 24 MP on my R8, I have a friend who has an R5 and I do of course see the benefits of being able to crop/zoom in, larger prints and whatnot. However, I have also recently gotten into sports photography since I currently have three young teenagers (TRIPLETS, one daughter, two sons) who are and will continue to be in sports for at least the next 5 years (swim team, basketball, baseball/ softball, lacrosse, football/ flag, volleyball), which ultimately is leaning me again towards the R3. So for the moment, my conclusion is that the R3 gives me the best of both worlds in regards to what I shoot or will be shooting. Plus I freaking love the integrated grip. I was hoping that the R5II would be an improvement where I could use it adequately for sports, to essentially be an R3 with 45 MP. What are your thoughts on using the R5II for sports, vs the R3? And I would have even considered splurging for an R1, but with 24 MP, for now I would rather go with an R3. Would you recommend that I splurge for the R1? Please let me know your thoughts. When the power is turned off, does the sensor in the Canon EOS R5 Mark II rattle as loudly as in the Canon EOS R6 Mark II (the one I'm currently using) and Nikon Zf? In the Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS R6 the sensor rattled much more quietly.

1:25, wrong, phone usb chargers which usually deliver 5V, cannot charge a camera, which takes 9 volts to charge it's battery, which is twice the amount of a phone. Electricty is like pressure, it can flow only from higher presure towards lower, and not the other way. The only chargers that are popular which can charge a phone and a camera, are the notebook ones. They are "smart" multi-voltage chargers, enforced by EU a few years back for waste reduction, usualy on them there are stated voltages that it can deliver, usualy on the label "5v, 9v, 12v", then yes, that thing can charge your camera...and your phone.
Yep! It works for focus stacking to trigger the flash on each of the automated focus steps. I found it in the R5-II online html/pdf advanced user's guide. That feature is really important to me too. Bummed that it never made it into the first R5 which I own anyway.

The back side illumination will give less noise. Image quality should be improved in the mark ii.

Yes, The vents are simply hollow cooling tubes that run through just under the camera body. They never expose air to the inside.

1:25, wrong, phone usb chargers which usually deliver 5V, cannot charge a camera, which takes 9 volts to charge it's battery, which is twice the amount of a phone. Electricty is like pressure, it can flow only from higher presure towards lower, and not the other way. The only chargers that are popular which can charge a phone and a camera, are the notebook ones. They are "smart" multi-voltage chargers, enforced by EU a few years back for waste reduction, usualy on them there are stated voltages that it can deliver, usualy on the label "5v, 9v, 12v", then yes, that thing can charge your camera...and your phone.

Yep! It works for focus stacking to trigger the flash on each of the automated focus steps. I found it in the R5-II online html/pdf advanced user's guide. That feature is really important to me too. Bummed that it never made it into the first R5 which I own anyway.
