@@TempusViator We are not actually all that bad, just most of us lol. You'll have a great time no matter who you meet, and I promise, you'll never forget them.
A great way to start my morning...Scots facts! Scotland rules. My first 'holiday romance' was with a girl from Burntisland (I even remember her address). All of my formative years were spent on holiday on the beautiful west coast. Our first time in the village (six houses, a post-office, and a boat-shed) we were told of a famous local "tourist attraction" - palm trees. For some reason there was a row of fully-grown palm-trees growing by the side of the road on the way up Loch Fyne. I am sure there is a photograph, in my dads collection, of a 12 year-old version of me standing beside them. Someone told me that the original Coconuts washed ashore after a ship was wrecked and the tide brought them to that point - it's an open sea Loch for those who have never been. No idea if that is true. My dads' uncle said it was a 'strange local' that was a bit like Lord Summerisle. First of all you would have to define 'strange' to me. It was a different world. The first two summers I was there I couldn't understand a word, but eventually you just tune-in to it. The language should be a major attraction. I do love road signs...it is impossible not to. You have to wonder how, and why, places were called what they are. Not too far from me is a sign to Noplace. Image being stopped by the Police and trying to explain where you are going? Officer: "So, where are you going?" Me: "Noplace." Officer: "You must be going somewhere, Sir? I will ask you once again before I get the pepper-spray!" Before I was unable to ride my motorbike I would go from Newcastle, via Jedburgh, to Edinburgh just to visit an awesome model shop. Well, that is not exactly true...I would do "the triple". Model shop, lunch at an excellent Chinese restaurant just up the road, and finally a visit to Burke & Hares. It has been a while. Love the videos, especially the one about your dad - I will arrange to join as soon as possible.

For anyone wondering the reason our national animal is the unicorn is that in old myths the unicorn was the mortal enemy of the lion which was the English animal and we don’t really get on well with them lot
darren67tv [station and not me in a dress] yes. When I first found out that the national animal was the unicorn then I tried finding out why and that’s what I found which kind of makes sense
Stone spheres (Carved Stone Balls), Petroglyphs are found in Scotland around 169 of the 425 stone balls have been discovered in Aberdeenshire making these the highest number found in any one area. They come from the Neolithic to early Bronze Age period making them around 5,200 years old. They are carved and often found to have knobs and intricate patterns.Hows that for a pointless fact?
Its mostly associated with blairgowrie not scone also called beech hedges, seeds were planted after WW1 , One seed was planted for every soldier lost who were born in the area. Only reason I know this is cause I used to go there every school summer to pick the berries in the early 80s.
Okay so I’m Australian, planning a trip to Scotland next year, and you can bet your life that I’m going to see the world’s tallest hedge
