Well, I guess if you have a crash like that, it can go one of two ways:
You either hop back in the saddle immediately and carry on - or you say to yourself „I had a good run, but I’d rather step aside and not press my luck any further“ - and walk away from racing for good. Both are decisions that I can respect.

I really didn't start freaking out until Dillon got hit when he was upside-down on the track. I truly believed that the catch fence had done its job, but of course I was concerned that fans in that area had been hit by debris. It wasn't until that first hit when Dillon was upside-down on the track that I started thinking that he was badly hurt.

thankfully everything did it's job, it wasn't pretty but it did, the car crumpled like it was supposed to, the catchfece caught the car, and the rollcage did it's job, the only thing that didn't, was the flaps failed

Has anyone considered the idea that Austin Dillon's crash could've been a Russell Phillips or Dan Wheldon type scenario had the car only rolled over halfway instead of a full rollover? If this doesn't happen, the roof of the car would've gone into the catchfence instead of the undercarriage of the car and would most likely have sheared the roof and top roll-cage off the car and either bludgeoned Dillon to death or possibly decapitated and dismembered him.

the good thing with the number 2 car is the fact that it hit sideways and not with his engine, probs took away a lot of the hit goin at it sideways

I'm glad that car landed wheels first on the catch fence . They should maybe find a mesh to put on the outside of that fence . Right now it stops cars but with a tremendous amount of force then slices the car like wood chipper .
