I'm a Ti dom and in all honesty, I really appreciate Te. I have noticed INTPs and ISTPs can come out with some convoluted bullshit when they get lost in their Ti and it is fairly common. I make sure to anchor my Ti models and system with Te regularly and adapt to Te findings. Its important, it gets shit done and its productive. I think INTPs are especially at risk of it because they have not Se which acts as a little Te in a way. Intps can get completely carried away with their ti-Ne to the point it doesn't resemble anything useful or making sense to anyone but themselves anymore, and they will not be stubborn on it in its own instance due to Ne, but they definitely seem to have a gripe with Te. they have trouble just accting what Is in a Te way and then modifying their Ti backwards based on that reference. ISTPs are more used to do thing this with Se data.
I like the way you break this down. It demystifies and simplifies Te very nicely for me.... This also helps me in my quest to understand the other types. Very nice video, excellent information. I mean, thank you.
As an INTJ this vid explains Te well. Because of this channel I've begun looking into cognitive functions which has been a great help for understanding myself and why I'm so socially awkward at times.
INTJ here. It's common on Quora for people to have confusion between INTJ and INFJ based on some MBTI test T/F score being close, or between INTJ and INTP because J/P was close. Those 3 types are so different and Te in 8 positons really illustrates that well.
For some reason, this video just finally helped me fully get the difference between Te and Ti. Like, I've always kind of understood it, but being Te blind, I felt like there was always missing information in the definitions I was reading. You just TOTALLY cleared it up!! Now I know why I can never freaking focus. I feel like Te is when your entire brain is united on a task, like you totalll control over your mind without anything running off in its own direction - that's why Te users are so dang effective and have so much energy. So you then have all the power you need to get things done. Yep, never going to have enough Te in my life. LOL.
""Now I know why I can never freaking focus. I feel like Te is when your entire brain is united on a task, like you totalll control over your mind without anything running off in its own direction " RIP INFJs right here.
Te Blind here. I definitely can spend excessive time trying analyze objective logic and see if it fits with my personal logic. I also think the blindspot function for all types is something that we prefer to laugh at when it's expressed and make jokes at people who use this function. (e.g. ISTJs tend to laugh at or dismiss my Fe when being expressed and I tend to make jokes about Te users being control freaks.). I agree with what you said about IxTPs reject Te models. I think that both IxTPs and IxFJs tend to reject Te methods the most out of all the types. The difference is for IxTPs it's a strong unvalued function and for IxFJs it's a weak unvalued function.
I like this Calypso. I’m an ENTP and you explained the use of 6th slot Te in an interesting way. I have seen Te critic explained in a way that is very negative. In that ExTPs are super critical of Te inputs (even disagreeing with their doctors haha) which is partially true however the majority of the time I am comfortable using both Ti and Te depending on the situation. In contrast to my INTP friend that is always in Ti mode and gets upset when I bring up new Te facts to argue against their theories. None of my theories are really set in stone. It bewilders people when I argue against my own theories when I receive new Te inputs and revise my initial Ti analysis.
I am noticing a big difference in the dominant and auxiliary functions and the auxiliary and lower functions. The lower functions we seem to worry less about or think we do well . The auxiliary function is the one we feel less secure about. I can’t wait for the other function videos!
Yes! That pretty much arose from me often feeling like "my potential is wasted" because my Ne is decent, but I don't put my mind to using it often enough. Plus Alex saying her Te isn't apparent to others, an INTJ I typed being skeptical that she's effective enough to be INTJ, an ISTJ I typed thinking he's not effective at all in the external world, and even an INTP I typed who underestimated his Ne so much as to think he's ISFJ. I'd still say I'm insecure about Te though, but perhaps so insecure that I mask the insecurity with pretend confidence (which is somewhat mitigated by learning more about cognitive types).
The IxTJ segment blew my mind with its accuracy. Whenever I read about Te being this authoritative bulldozing, take-charge function, I can never relate to it. I'm very slow to take action because I need to process everything in my head over and over again, and I'm usually very non-confrontational because I can't manage emotional outbursts. I've actually wondered a few times if it wasn't actually my inferior. But in arguments however, that's when my Te completely takes over. Whoever has the most straight-forward, bottom line argument wins, plain and simple and I effortlessly always try to be that person. I simply cannot put with irrationality, over-complications and non-sense.
Yeah that's because people misunderstand Te and Se. Te isn't physical action function Se is. Te is figuring out the most efficient way to take action not the performing of the act itself. Te- efficient and effective problem solving/step by step plan to achieve a goal Se- execution The reason why you don't take action is because of either Se being your inferior or 5th (ignoring) function. The reason why ENTJs feel a lot active is because their Se third slot is p good. And ESTJs have Se 6th and are p much using it all the time without actually realizing it. (socionics defintion)
Se is action, but in no way will result in the sort constructive work Fe types excel at without support and guidance from the other functions. Otherwise EXTPs would not have the reputation as fun loving party boys, while the Te guys are out starting a business. Where do you get this idea that judging functions cannot be action? Otherwise ESTPs would not have the reputation as
I'm bad at baseball because I would rather see where the ball goes rather than pursue it. That's an exaggeration but I think it highlights to me why action is difficult on my part.
I relate to Te desire to tweak and change things to make things more efficient. It explains my desire to experiment and try out new things, but yeah I think its tertiary Te for me. I do value industriousness and work ethic actually.
Maybe Te trickster can be seen as enacting social change against established hierarchies. We make people believe we are part of the system with Fe and our naturally empathetic ways, whilst then unobservant to others in a almost quietly persuasive way, shaking it up to establish what we might consider the ideal system based on what we believe is for the Good of man. Infj in the positive (Martin Luther king) and negative (Hitler). Isfj positive possibly Mother Teresa. I think thats their Mbti type.
INTJ, here. I've noticed that IXFJ Te blind spot is they're not aware of what others are thinking, they don't take kindly to feedback, criticism or overall the opinions of others. They're not efficient or necessarily productive in the mechanical sense. They don't really get "hands on" due to being in their heads. Instead of trying to figure something out and get the ball rolling to fix an issue, they procrastinate and contemplate a solution without enacting said solution.
Great video! This was spot on! I was wondering if you and/or Alex could type the cast of Queer Eye? I think that that would be a hit. I suspect Antoni is an ISFP, Karamo is an ENFJ, and Jonathan is an ENFP, but as for Tan and Bobby? I dunno! I think this would be super fun!
I love this idea! Jodie Permen, you might check out NT Support on TH-cam. Those (boys) might give you an idea of their types. I am an INTJ and when I found their channel (no longer active, I believe), I immediately recognized myself and my son in the INTJ and the INTP types. There is also a physical body type associated with MBTI, which is interesting and informative to observe.
You do a good job at these. I gleaned from your Se video. As it is with me not understanding Te because it is my trickster, you don’t grasp how Ti works because it’s in your last slot. This is how Ti works in my thoughts: I have a new idea/problem that needs to be solved. I will run that problem through my mind connecting all my related experiences and memories asking is this true, if yes, then is this true. So on and so on. If I get a negative answers based upon all my testing of the new idea then I know the idea/problem is bullshit. It’s all internal. I do not ask questions of others. What others think means nothing to me. That is how Ti child and Te trickster works in my head.
Great video! Can u make a ti video next? I have a very hard time understanding ti as a concept. Probably because that's my blindspot function. Not sure how it works in others as well as myself.
I am an INFJ software engineer, and I can tell you that Te is not just "hard" - it can be legitimately exhausting to engage for prolonged periods if Ti can't see the Te data as an extension of itself. I am not sure how it exactly manifests in the ISFJ mind, but speaking for myself, there is a very draining conversion process between the external data and the internalized, more easily acted upon Ti data.
How unfortunate. You two made learning about cognitive theory fun and enjoyable. Best wishes to Alex in her future eneavors. Now back to you, Ms. Calypso.
