    My late husband collected exotic medicinal plants. Some of them developed pests, aphids, etc. Bob thought it would be a good idea to release ladybugs in our house, but the poor ladybugs did not have enough to feed on, and eventually most of them died. Even so, for several years after, I found ladybugs around the house even after the plants were gone.

    We did a ladybug release once for the aphids all over our roses. Next day, not an aphid in sight but all the ladybugs were gone too. They came, they ate, they left! 😂

    Those beneficial bugs though! I also use an organic spray that has worked wonders for me. It is a quarter cup DR Woods peppermint soap, a quarter cup DR Woods tea tree soap, 1 teaspoon of 1% hydrogen peroxide and one cup 70% alcohol with 2 quarts of water. It kills thrips, spider mites and every other pest on contact and causes the larvae to explode so you can spray it in the dirt as well. It also treats fungus and such and doesn't harm the plants. Just wanted to share because it has worked great for me! Love and joy to you plant brother! ❤

      Yes when ever i have tried to bring lady bugs inside they just spend all their time trying to get outside.

      @@tomdix8028 Tom try the concoction I gave. The alcohol and hydrogen peroxide is cheap but the DR Woods stuff I had to order online however so far it has worked excellent. I have used neem oil and everything else over the years that left much to be desired.

    Pink princess and white princess are going for $25 at a store near me in Toronto, and the squamiferum for $15. I got one of the squamiferum’s and actually gave it away because I figured the person would adore it and I could get a new one another time, and it was very full with two or three growth points for a small 4” pot.

      Local place to me, hour south of Toronto wanted them for $25. Nice 8inch pots. Lots of variegation

      Another place nearby wanted 100$ for 4 inch pots

      I prefer to buy from smaller nurseries when I can but Costa Farms is shipping Pink Princesses with decent variegation to retailers right now. I grabbed a massive 6” for $16.99 at Kroger the other day. Home depot is getting the same variety pack but I have not seen a Pink Princess there so far.

    Yo I’m gonna be in LA in a few days. Any chance you can make a top 5 LA nursery video? Definitely would love to take a cactus or something more back with me.

    • @Patadendron
      @Patadendron  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aww darn! I don’t have enough time to get it out! But you should hit up Mickeys, sunset nursery for some cool cactus… or the Los Angeles flower market for a plant shopping adventure. You’re the one who’s brother lives in LA right? I recommend the buddy system for downtown!

    Will the ladybugs survive in your grow tent?? I must admit I have no idea what they eat? Other insects? Guess I have to go see if there is a video about it. But I guess I never thought of putting them in an indoor location like that. If they eat bugs, hopefully they can help with spider mites and stuff. Hmmm... Would regular spiders eat spider mites? Spiders eat bugs too. At our local museum they have an exhibit called "Butterflies Alive!" where there is this hot greenhouse like room full of all different types of butterflies.

    That scindapsus pictus exotica looks incredible! I’m working on just propping and filling in a pot of those from two cutting I got for $5.99 each… and so far I still have two with a few cuttings 😅 it’s a slow grower for me and I’m just guessing that it needs to have stronger roots before taking off..
