We had heavy wind and rain come through Miracle Mountain and overnight our work in progress DIY wildlife pond took quite a substantial amount of damage :(

Theo and Bee gave up their busy city lifestyles in 2014 to explore alternative living, and have lived in vans and boats since then without looking back! Along with their cat Ginjey Bear they have been driving around the world in their self converted Sprinter van. However, when the global pandemic hit they began converting their abandoned stone barn in Central Portugal to turn into a wonderful tiny stone cottage. Along the way, they have rescued a playful cat called Furrnando and have a wonderful flock of Chickens!

Bea you and Theo are very, very impressive. He is working like a dog and loves it! And you appear to be reborn. Congratulations!
You have no idea how wonderful it is to see you so full of bounce and joy Bea. I'm so so happy for you ❤
Bee. You are looking great and am hoping that you are not dealing with depression because I love to see you happy.
Thank you so much! My depression/depressive episodes have lessened exponentially since my hysterectomy - I still have down days and tough times but nothing like what I experienced in the depths of PMDD ❤️
@@theindieprojects I am so happy to hear. I suffer from Depression and give my self three days to go down, but during that time I make an effort to function. My cure is action. figure out what makes me depressed and try to find a way to turn it around. You are an amazing person and hard worker with Theo and love to see you both make progress on the land and your relationship.
P.S. love the length of your hair.
I have been thinking the same. You look absolutely radiant Bee!!
So sorry about the washout. Bee, I love to hear you laugh. You sound happy now. Theo, good job fixing the bank.
Bea you are looking so good! So happy all is well with you health wise ❤❤❤ Greetings from a granny in South Africa 🇿🇦 ❤️
I took green branches off our willow trees that had not created a brown hard bark surface and the circumference of my wrist and created a lengthy trench and laid the 3 to 4 foot branch into the trench and burried in with soil about 6 to 8 inches deep leaving the finger size branches intact sticking up and created a wall of willows. Since willow grows relatively fast, we were able to create a beautiful wind barrier wall and our erosion problems quickly became no problem at all within a years time. That was back in 2001 and they are still standing big and tall today. The best part is the branches don't usually get so big that if they were to break that they don't cause damage to out buildings. Best of luck on your journey. ❤
I can imagine the amazing smells walking through the property in the first part of this video. What an amazing place.
Thank you Bea for showing Babe and an up date on her eye. Bless her.
Maybe you need some bushes with strong roots that will grow into the dam wall and bind it together. Looks lovely with a full pond.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Darling Bee, our treasured squirrel, perhaps you need to get in the habit of taking a foragers bag with you on your walks.. love to you both 🙏🏽🇦🇺
I love your nature videos, always something new to explore and of course maintaining the land. There is this saying that I've saved it in my memory. "YOU WALK LIGHTER ON THE LAND WHEN YOU LIKE THE LAND YOU WALK ON" You should introduce this saying into your videos.
Love your videos and enjoy watching them. May the lord bless and protect you and Theo and the animals and the homestead.
Thanks so much
It is so nice to see Bea enjoying the homestead. So perky and funny. I absolutely love your accent!😊 i wish you and Theo all the best in the world! Been
watching since the van days. Miracle Mountain is a dream. ❤
You pair are always up for a challenge. Well done on sorting the dam wall xx
Thank you! 😊
It’s AMAZING how much Spring Water you have on your Property!!!! 😊😊😊💕💕💕🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
You two make me smile sooo big. I ove seeing you both so full of joy with eachother and with life! Will you ever consider adopting child? Your beautiful homestead would be a childs paradise to grow up in. What amazing parents you would be!
That Tractor is a beast.... Bea you're looking really healthy a stunning and funny AF as usual from yiz both. Theo you the man on that Tractor bud. The work ethic is amazing. I love the knowledge you give out on the plants and plans to grow all your own to help the property
Bee i loved your hair when it was blond but your natural hair colour is just lovley it suits your complexion so much better.sorry about the pond but i know both of you will sort it out with your commitment and determination. Its looking good despite the damage.love from Staffordshire.🐱🐈🐱
You guys are a hoot! Love your sweet banter.
Bee you're so happy, it makes me smile ear to ear.
It would be great if you could get a botanist, pharmacist or experienced wild mushroom hunter cone up and give you a course on what edible mushrooms you can forage on your land. Tis the season ! Great in omelets, sautéed with onions, garlic and parsley. 🍄
I would love that!
@@theindieprojects Bee, I'm an amateur mycologist/forager since '94, in central France. if you take good pics of the plants and mushrooms, I'd be happy to do my best. I'll need _very_ closeup views of them, plus top, underside, and profile of the mushrooms to get close on ID, as well as any scents and textures (dry, velvety, slimy, soft, firm). However, some are very easy, like the little brown ones in the cone - Mycena seynii, not edible nor magic, but very cute.
Here, pharmacists used to be well trained in mushroom ID, but the younger ones are not learning as much. As Marianne says, if you can find an older pharmacist, you can ask them to help. You may want to pick up some good field guides for both, to get used to the fine differences. You may also find a local nature group, as I did, or at least a knowledgeable older resident, to help learn your local flora/myco. It takes a good while to learn, but it's so rewarding.
@theindieprojects If you can't get a botanist to come out, check with your local Agricultural office.
Bea, you are looking really lovely these days. What ever your doing keep it up. 😍 Theo is also looking great as well. My very best to the both of you. 💙
The pond looks great, can’t wait to see it finished
Thanks!
That little blue tractor is a real work horse. Well done on moving all that rock to your dam.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️❤️❤️
Bea, your natural hair color looks beautiful and makes your complexion look so healthy. I hope that you choose to let your natural beauty show! Hope you are feeling good, too!❤❤❤
Theo, thats pretty impressive, you've really done a fantastic job fixing everything and future proofing everthing on the property. Just can't believe how much you have achieved since the disasterour fire.
😹We have a 15 year old Baby who we found at about the same age & under the Similar conditions 👑she is now the Queen of the household & has a Monarch disposition just like your Queen Ginjey Bear😻
No other name ever stuck despite myriad of attempts lol
Thank you for giving us our fix of the Queen (I've been missing her) & the update of your newest foster 🐈 that you've so GENEROUSLY added to the Family ❤
Your EPIC LOVE of Animals is a quality we share💞 & one I LOVE the most about you Bee😍
Sending BIG LOVE, LUCK & LAUGHTER 💖🍀🙏
My tip for the willow is to check the recommended spacings, then plant three times as many 🤣 Mine all took really well but in late summer the deer stripped loads of them bare!
Oh nooo! That sucks, we have deer here too and I know our goats enjoy browsing on willow too so the deer definitely will - we’ll keep it in mind and plant even more 😅
Bee I haven't been on your channel for a while, I have started watching you again and I must say your looking great I love your chats with us and your sense of humour ❤
Hey there bee! You are looking really good today! I love the way you had your hair today ! It’s always good to see your beautiful smile…it always lifts my spirits!
That was so nice of you Theo to mention the hurricane. God bless you!
I love your walks through the woods. My mother used to take us for walks through the woods and tell us the names of the trees and plants. It was always such a wonderful experience. Bee, you are like my mother was and both of you are such a bundle of knowledge of nature. Good work. Love, love, love the pond.
I love the Borrowers! It was great to see how you were able to reuse the rocks and then to see the walk around your property.
Water, water, every where. What a great water man Theo is. Loved the tour into the forest.❤️🇨🇦
I never tire of taking walks with both of you on your property‼️👍😊
Plant some grass seed and tree saplings on that dam. Roots will hold it together better. Much love and respect from Kentucky USA
That’s the plan!
I know you had some damage in some areas, but how exciting to see the water flow to the other areas.😊
True! Our desire to fix the issue meant we couldn’t even truly appreciate the pond essentially being full 😅
Thank you for the thoughts for the states and all the people effected by Hurricane Helene as I write this Florida is in the danger zone again and even worse than the last Hurricane they have spotted several tornados there and another cat 5 hurricane coming in tonight Hurricane Milton it is so sad as they have not cleaned up the debris from last storm and it is piled up and now that makes for a lot of things getting tossed by the winds Florida is a very dangerous place to be right now.
You and Theo always make my day when you post a new video. Bee I am glad you are doing better. You look amazing. I love your property progress.
All your hard work is paying off now‼️👍The water is being diverted nicely‼️👍
I'm like you, Bee. I love the look of rust and old paint that's wearing off. Love seeing Gingy Bear in todays video!
Loved seeing Gingy and happy for the new kitten.
31:54 "Don't camp under that tree" made me think about the Netflix show where I met you two!! So many years have passed, so glad you could make your dream come true living in such a beautiful land. Greetings from Argentina!! 💙🤍💙
Never a dull moment on Miracle Mountain! Loved it. Thank you so much for letting us share your life with us, it makes my day. Take care, keep safe. 💕 Dorset, UK
My Sisters house got missed by Helene by a very small margin. Now Milton is another story. Their house on the Florida west coast is in a direct path. They have evacuated with as much of their worldly possessions as possible.
Wonderful to see you both looking so well and having so much fun!
It’s so nice to see you so happy Bee.
Oh it's lovely to see the way you two love that beautiful place! It couldn't have gone to a better family! My goodness, that adorable blue tractor is disguised as 'cute' when it's really a BEAST! Well done on choosing it - it's earning it's keep for sure. So glad the damage wasn't worse - sounds like you have great plans to complete that pond. Seems the Willow roots will also help to filter and clean the water too. As @patbrady9531 said: you look reborn! All those years of pain and sickness and misery and now you're really living and appear to be enjoying your life! Hooray.
Thats our Theo.." Im sorry the dam broke but its so much fun fixing it!"
I always enjoy your videos. Thank you for mentioning the hurricanes Helene and now Milton in the U. S. southeast. We were without power for 3 days in Ohio! It is worse than anyone can imagine, but people are stepping up and helping each other. You are such good stewards of this land! All the best❤
Ty for mentioning the horrific damage from Helene. Now as Floridians we are living thru Hurricane Milton.. we left our city near Tampa but rain loss of electricity is already causing problems.
I have enjoyed the laughter and happiness throughout this video!
WOW WOW WOW John you never cease to amaze me
I love watching you do jobs like this. Also Bea just chatting away😁
Loving the natural hair colour Bea. The land certainly looks like its greening up x
Beautiful, you are looking fabulous! Good health to you girl!
Miracle Mountain is looking stunning. It looks like th rain has got to you guys there. You survived. We have a portuguese friend who lives near Castelo Branco who got flooded by the rain.
Fortunately, only some flowers and vegetables got washed away. Harriet has a cousin from Hendersonville, N.C. was effected by the Hurricane. Lost power for 3 days. Mininmal damage.
But doing ok. As always, guys . the videos are so good. Be Well ! Love you guys🥰 from Harriet, Jim and Yuki Richmond, VA. P.S. Theo, Love those shorts and sandals. Liked minded
people think alike.
Thank goodness you have that tractor‼️👍
Bee! ❤ You are looking fabulous, I keep thinking it last few weeks and you have a glow of happiness too 😍 so happy for you
I pray that the 🌧 that's started will be short-lived. Stay safe! Have a good week. Thank you for posting the video.
The Borrowers was one of my favorite books as a child.😊
My Snowshoe-ish kitty turned 18 last May! Even though she has slowed down, she looks & feels great! So Gingey Bear is just a young whippersnapper! 😉
Your beautiful home is so tranquil and chicken soup for the soul 😊x
Love the mossy rocks in the old forest❤❤What a lovely walk up the stream! It is so beautiful💚🌈💚Glad to see Baby❤🩹❤🩹
Bushes and grasses are best quick solutions. Trees can actually undermine a dam over time, as their deep large roots can actually allow weeping through.
Looking beautiful B. your skin is glowing ❤
You may want to get that dam, etc., seeded with quick growing annual grasses as well as perenial grasses, even if you plan for other kinds of planting later. That ground cover will help keep things together during heavy rain. It's not a total fix, but it can help.
Hi there, in addition to the willows, you could also plant a few eucalyptus. They also love water and they smell so good! Wonderful to see how well you both are doing!
We used to have a pine nut tree in our Spanish garden. Pine nuts with some fresh basil, garlic, olive oil and smashed up with a pestle and mortar, is delicious. Great variety in this video. Thanks.
Hi guys
I feel the same as the other people commenting.
I say this every time I write in. I love you guys and what you do with everything. You guys are so much fun and full of laughter, just what I need. Thank you so much for sharing and lol.👍👍🥰🇨🇦
We had our first summer rain @ 15.00hr South Africa time a full 10mm it stilled the dust and the air is so fresh 😊
Another banger, love seeing you both deal with challenges together and having fun 😊
Bee, I laugh a lot when you express yourself when something happens or when Theo does something and you are so funny! You have a vast knowledge of adjectives and you are so creative! your eyes seemed bluer with the lens. What a great job, Theo with those stones. I'm curious to see how the ponds and lake will be after this storm. See ya next video. Thank you.
You two were very lucky that the dam didn't totally give way!😅 You could've lost the pond. Fixing the part that had started to give way is so much easier than fixing a completely breach of the dam. It will be so much more stable when you get the 🌳 and grass in. Even with this slight setback you both seem to be handling it well...with good humor.
Start mint from your cuttings in glass of water to plant in a pot later. Take care and enjoy the rain.
Maybe sandbags under the sand and soil on top.... soil, because plant roots can help hold it all in place. Anyway, you've got this. It's all just a process of refinement until it's perfect.... takes time, dear ones. You are doing just great! Yes, my son lives very close to the damage from Hurricane Helene, and I appreciate your goodwill. The goodwill is returned!
That’s great that you were able to use those damaged rocks to pack the wall.
So nice to see those eyes without the glasses reflections, Bee!
Not sure if you have a name for your Tractor, watching it crush everything in its way, I thought The Blue Gladiator would be fitting. Love your Positive approach to not giving up but sorting the problem. Love you Bea with Glasses or Contacts. Love ❤️ to you both xx
What a beautiful place. ❤
Diggin all the action after the Rain... Smells so fresh i bet!!🤙🤙Natural streams are Epic!🙏🙏Be blessed!
you two are sooo much fun
Watching hurricane Helene repercussions and now Hurricane Milton. 😢.
Looking good Bee! ❤
Bee, you look lovely! Thank you, Theo, for mentioning the people, devastated in the hurricane, Helene, with no help from the government. You are doing such a great job fixing the dam wall. Bee, try and clean your kitten's eye with castor oil., organic or EP, Hexane free. It is very healing.
There is lots of help from the government, I know people personally who are down there making rescues and who are with FEMA. The order was signed by the president before the storm hit so the money and resources would be ready. Anyone who is saying the government isn’t there is spreading misinformation and is actively harming the people there who actually need help.
Oh y'all! Dig up some sprigs of that mint and plant it around the dam! It's fast growing and will rapidly spread and the roots go deep!
Good attitude Theo, good effort.
Love your videos. B you are such an inspiration. From then and now. Respect you are just amazing ❤
I was thinking about you when I heard that the rest of Hurricane Kirk was coming through. It looks as if the storm's passing more to the north, nearer Porto, but you're surely getting the tail end of the rain. You two are such hard workers, and love it so much, it's a delight to see you in your natural habitat. Take good care of yourselves, and don't overdo!
So good to see all the kitties, especially to catch up on the news of pretty Baby. Will she be getting her spay at the same time as her eye surgery?
Today’s video was really fun!
You two are awesome! You help me want to work on my own place🙂
I love rusty metal. I have picked up pieces at yard sales. Spray them with vinegar and let them set in the long grass for a couple of weeks. Old cast iron looks great
Every time I hear Theo say “dam wall” I hear “damn wall” which is probably the sentiment in this video!
Really enjoyed this and a big thanks
You have a beautiful property. ❤
A couple of large bales of straw in the top lake will stop the algae? Pine cones are great for starting a fire too.. Thanks for the vlog, a joy as always
good see vlog out on channel and getting the bam wall fixed thanks lee
Thanks 👍
Lol Theo looks at you like my husband of 37 years looks at me when he finds my stash of rocks in the floor of our vehicle.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What can I say? I have a reputation to keep with "Rock" being my last name. 😅🙃🤣
Loved the variety in today's video!💗
If you can get some grass seed, that would be great for the pond. This is a good time to put it down. It doesn't stress trying to grow leaves and roots as it is cooling off. If you got perennials flower seeds, also plant them so they can start growing now, and they will die back a little over winter and come Springtime, those plants will take off. You can pull up some clumps of grass and replant it in those areas that has water runoff.
You should bring a basket on your walks for foraging. :)
