Cristina Scabbia is the GOAT. Going forward, metal will have a lot of talented female singers, but none of them will mean to the genre what Cristina Scabbia meant to the genre. She got into metal before it was cool for women to get into metal, and she made it cool because all you have to do is listen to that voice and you're hooked forever.
Apart from anything off Shallow life fucking awful album. Thats the only blemish on their record when they hired that idiot producer who tried to turn them into a scrotty pop band. Luckily they learnt from their mistake a returned to their natural style and sound in every release since then.
Saw them a couple years ago when they toured with Epica. What a great lineup. We need a Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica and Lacuna Coil tour. It would be mind blowing.

I keep putting off listening to the new Album, but have liked each song I've heard off it. This sounds like old LC (Shallow Life and Karma Code era) vs some of the newer, heavier songs off the last 2-3 Albums. I was introduced to LC back in 2003 with "Heaven's a Lie" and I would not recommend doing that as a reaction, yet. Comalies album is great, but sounds just like when it was made, early 2000's. I'd say since you mentioned the death metal sound you have to do one of the newer tracks, "Layers of Time" off the most recent album or "Blood, Tears, Dust" off the last album.
