So the whole story is. The shirai ryu and the lin kuei have in fact been beefing but quan chi used sorecery to make himself look like sub zero but it wasnt sub zero. Quan chi then told the lin kuei to raid hanzos village in order for scorpion to be vengeful and join the mk tournament
Also there are 2 sub zeros the first born is Bi-han also known as noob saibot when resurrected and his little brother kuai liang the second sub zero (The One With the Scar on his left side) so its really kuai liang and hanzo beefing in the second tournament and bi han the first
Not entirely. Sub-Zero did kill Scorpion. See Mortal Kombat Mythologies Sub-Zero. Both assasins were recruited by Quan Chi to steal a map from Shaolin Temple in case one of them fails to get there. But Scorpion and Sub-Zero were so capable, that they both came to the map chamber. That quickly turned into a battle which Scorpion lost. Quan Chi destroyed the rest of Shirai Ryu as payment to Lin Kuei for success. And yes, events of that spin-off are still cannon, because after this scene Raiden mentions how Sub-Zero stopped Shinnok invasion which is exactly what happened in that game. And MK 11 further cannonised that game by Fujin acnowleging that Bi Han actually was in temple and stole Shinnok amulet.
Oh thanks for clearing it up but why did Sub-Zero insult Scorpion with disrespect so much?

Plus, in that illusion, "Sub-Zero" is seen holding a katana. Even though Sub-Zero is Chinese and can emit an ice sword, so he wouldn't really be using a normal carbon-steel sword. Unless he has only the sword handle and form's a blade on it, a little bit like a lightsaber.

In MK3 Trilogy, there are 2 Sub-Zero in character select. The masked Sub-Zero is Bi-Han, and the other one with the scar on the face is Kuai Liang. And also in MK9, there are 4 costumes of Sub-Zero. Bi-Han is Costume 2 and MK1 skin and Kuai Liang is Costume 1 and MK3 skin.

It took me too long to notice that the deception Quan Chi shows is of Bi Han killing Hanzo Hasashi's family with a regular katana, when the real Bi Han could've just used a sword made of ice.
@michaeloverton04 Scorpion was too blind to realize that because all he seen was SubZero. That was enough to easily convince him that it was Bi-Han which it really wasn't.
In my opinion this is the my most saddest scene in mortal kombat series the reason being is knowing what happened to the subzero from mortal kombat mythologies. I didn't know he was Noob Saibot the whole time

Before I even knew Quan Chi actually killed the Shirai Ryū I had the feeling he did just by Quan Chi showing Scorpion the massacre and with a smile on his face, basically egging Hanzo on.

So the director went that route & pretty much went with the Gen Z fandom (Since their first MK game was MK9) & completely butchered Bi-Han's character as a whole.

He did that in payment to Lin Kuei for successful mission of stealing map to the Temple of the Elements. This circumstance just appeared to be usefull when Quan Chi then recruited Scorpion to kill Sub-Zero.

@secretperson2997 if you read the MK X comic Quan Chi Literally killed Scorpion during the raid. Bi-Han had no encounter with Scorpion when he was alive until now. Though the events of MK Mythologies happened but only with a minor Altered being Bi-han never encountering Scorpion like the Original Timeline & also Scorpion was an assassin he would of Killed Bi-Han given the chance too since both clans have enormous amount of Hatred towards each other.
