Doug, your stuff is great and most of the insights are almost always spot on but comparing an Alpina to an M is blasphemy and is not supported by either car's driving dynamics or the history of either company. The M performance focuses on sports performance to keep the driver engaged and part of the pavement. The Alpina experience is a luxurious escape from those constrictions for drivers who have different priorities that don't include hearing loud exhaust noises or cornering on a timed track. In the US we were really able to first see this contrast in the M6 v. B6, where there are two vehicles with great stats on paper that drive nothing alike. The priorities of M and Alpina are different and this is reflected in the driving dynamics. Nor would any Alpina driver want an M X7 over the XB7 because comfort and luxury would be more important to those drivers over pure racing feel. A rare faux pas that I felt needed to be addressed.
Carwow videos are more satisfying to watch. Maybe because their production team really puts effort in video editing or maybe because they have good cameras.

@@zlyverz I get what you mean but I mostly like what's inside the car so I don't really care about the grill
The GPS window roll down would actually be pretty handy for those who’s work place may have a parking attendant/station setup or if you have to badge in somewhere. Or even your coffee stops. Kind of a neat feature.
Doug’s killing the game! He’s my favorite car nerd because he makes no pretense of being “cool”, and he’s mad OCD in his “quirks and features” segment.
"Thhhhhissss" being played on a loud speaker sounds very Dynamic 🚫🧢
@Doug Demuro Don’t text this number, this is a fake Doug! If it was real, it would have a grey check mark! Trust me, please!
It looks huge and it sounds like a beast.
Dinos die when they are to big... Bigger is not better.
THEY PUT THE CRUISE CONTROLS WHERE THEY SHOULD BE!!! I am blown away!
Never thought I'd say this but that grill actually looks good on this hahaha
I agree, in fact I'm fine with every BMW grill

before you start make sure to check out cars and bids
I’d imagine they put the plastic there because of the possibility of drinks spilling and maybe feeling the plastic would subconsciously alert someone to be careful of were your putting your feet

Imagine complaining about it in an otherwise (beyond) full loaded car
@@Sheridantank yeah right? Imagine spending a ungodly amount of money on a premium product and expecting to be happy with the build quality...

I agree with the original comment that it probably has a practical purpose. Should of been leather? It would get worn over time more than plastic. Not all plastic is created equally.
That's a whole lotta words to try and justify a 90s Ford Explorer looking panel.
@@pacmanweeee hell yeah it was
man I really don't think I could score these cars like Doug does. I mean that as the best compliment to Doug DeMuro. It has to be so hard to score vehicles, so to all the haters, you try it.
1) Green is indeed a traditional Alpina color, along with the blue. Take a look at any Alpina from the 80s through today and you'll see it. 2) The shift buttons are traditional as well and go back to the days when BMW did not offer manual shifting on automatic transmissions, so Alpina used to put "+" and "-" buttons on the wheel to allow for it.
thank you i was looking for this comment

So those are all the quirks and features of my new wife. Now I’m going to give her ride and then I’ll give her a Doug score.

Doug is a type of a guy to wear cargo shorts and tuxedo at his wedding
You're a Legend 💀😂😭🤣!!!
I was going to buy a BMW Alpina XB7, however, I bought a mint Saab 9-7x Aero with 400 h.p. for $9500. I bought a townhouse with the $150k difference.

I do like seeing the front seat bump slightly to make room for the rear seats. Great example of the need for a full can bus system.
I’ve always thought alpinas should be more popular because they’re literlly just more comfortable M cars but even more exclusive what’s not to love
Depreciation on this car is going to crash your money harder than Hoovie's hooptie rescue missions
It's part of the purchase. People that buy these, don't care. They want the latest and best and will lease it, or sell it at a loss and buy a new one in a few years.
not harder than Bitconnect though
@@Sheridantank It's a shame really, as the majority of the public probably doesn't know this as being any different from any other large SUV. Upside is, for those that know and can't afford it new, they can get it at a steep discount secondhand once the original owner absorbs that massive depreciation.
There’s no way all the electronics last more than a couple years.
@@12ealDealOfficial Thats just the price of buying a new car or leasing one. Just buy one used with a few thousand miles and a year or two old. not much of a difference between the cars.

Not gonna lie, I am pretty impressed with this vehicle. It certainly has more features than any other 3 row suv. Many of them are pretty practical.
I will never get over car reviews that spend 20 minutes on infotainment systems and interior buttons, but never mention engine displacement.
