High Billy , is mono better than using wire traces,? Looks harder to tie mono than using crimps on wire. Love your posts 👍 your the zz top of sea fishing 👍
Hi Shaun. Wire is no good for Conger, it comes back all twisted up and unusable. Just use mono, 150- 200lb and you will have no problems. Thanks Brother 👍😁
@@Billyfishing_watch thank you Billy, I am just starting out beach fishing So it’s like a new sport, sort of refreshing my love for fishing 👍🇬🇧 Change is as good as a rest 👍
As a Florida man I have no idea what you're fishin' for but they must be stout. We don't want eels to bite in Florida. I'm going to have to learn more about your monster eels.
How it going out in Florida. The Conger is one of the biggest fish we can get from the shore here in Ireland. A big one would be 30-40 lbs, but they are very slimy and nasty and aggressive, so good night fishing then😂 thanks Brother 👍😁
@@Billyfishing_watch I'm from Florida but I live in North Carolina by the foothills for now. I should be back by the water soon though. Can't wait to go cobia fishin'.
@@Billyfishing_watch I've caught one from a seawall next to a bridge. And I fought one from a little pier in the Gulf Of Mexico for a long time and when it got close the leader wore through. And once in a boat I was casting a big popper very close to the beach and I hooked one for a moment, it was close enough to catch from the beach. And in Bradenton Beach there are more little piers where people catch cobia some. I saw an absolute monster in Sarasota Bay once, not within casting distance of the shore but someone wading could have caught it. They come up on the flats sometimes. So yeah, cobia from the beach, but not something you can plan on where I'm from (Sarasota). You can target them on some bigger piers elsewhere, especially on the east coast. Virginia Beach and the Chesapeake Bay have piers where people target cobia and get them, sometimes lots are right off the beaches following rays or bull sharks. They're very cool fish, awesome fighters and they taste great.
Man... That's a lot of heavy metal in one rig, what size of baits are you actually using? I've always used a single hook similar size too yours to 1ft of 150 then 3ft of 100 generally using a hole large mackeral, whole pouting or a rainbow trout section
Hi Jamie, I use a hole mackerel, but half is cut into cutlets and whipped on to the other half. it's a big fat bait, so when the straps are finished there is a good bait there for a real eel, thanks Brother 👍😁
@@Billyfishing_watch I’m sure they were snell knots well before we took them mate! Still, gonna tie myself one of these rigs and go after a few Conger in the Mersey. Nice one brother!
Thanks Billy, seems a great rig for catfish here in SA
Thanks LJ, hope you hook a monster 👍😁
Great video as always Brother - nice rig. Can't see me making one up - I hate them Slimy Toothy Conger Critters! Stay safe & well! 🎣🎣👍👍
Eat them, before they eat you. That's my motto. Thanks Trampster, fish on Brother 👍😁

Cobia! From the shore?

Some day, I'll get to fish on there👍

Thanks Dave, fish on Brother 👍😁👌
What size baits would ya use on this rig, like a whole mackerel fillet?
Half a large mackerel head and guts! Thanks Brother 😁👌
Been waiting for this one!
Anytime Bear, fish on 👍😁👌
@@Billyfishing_watch caught small congers on flattie rigs which get destroyed...will try out your rig for a big one, as they laugh at 80lb mono
That right Brother 👍
So a running ledger rig then just beefed up i use 150 rovex 10x all way through for my conger rigs no weak link then going from 2 difrent lb of line
Soctt Harris! I was wondering when you would pitch in 😜 . Yes Brother, see you on the beach 👍😁👌
So when are you back in Norway Billy boy?
Not sure Sean, probably when I get bored with this, thanks Brother 👍😁

Very similar to a knotless knot in carp fishing big man would you say? But on steroids haha

Hi Tom, I fish in Donegal For ells. The Hooks might be a little bit big, maybe 8/0or 10/0 will be better 👍
@@Billyfishing_watch thanks Bill, appreciate the reply and the advice bud. Fascinating things, terrified of them but love them as well 😅
Get a T bar, don't put your hand near mouth. The big ones bite. 👍
How Billy "ties one on".
Thanks Mike, fish on Brother 👍😁👌
Several ways is my guess 😂
👍
