my bestie and I are planning to be in Korea, teaching, in August of 2023 (after graduation)... and your channel has really helped me with gaining insight in to what it's like (from application processes to life style). thank you so much!! 😭💗
I have loved listening to your experiences and it is so insightful. I did not want it to end. Please do another video together soon. I literally revisit your channel so often Letty, thank you for being open to letting us see through the life you have started in Korea and how to go about the processes and what is to be experienced there. I will be starting my application process soon and I don't think I would have been able to settle my curiosity about the life to come if not for you.
Thank you so much for this comment🥺🌸. It really meant a lot to me. We’ll definitely come together and make another video. All the best with the application process! It is tedious and stressful. But you got this. Many of us went through it and got here, and so will you❤️

You guys just rock!!! ❤️ How I would’ve loved to be placed with you bubbly souls! I hope I get a placement soon , so impatient & don’t even wanna wait for Aug/Sep. Such a lovely video! You are naturals! This is the content people want to see! Keep it up.
Lol vele we've been grinding way too hard to not stop and smell the roses. And thanks for the financial advice, and elaborating about the banks, shuuu... R1000 to R350-ish. Nka tswara ke High BP🥴
Thank you for doing these two videos on this subject. I enjoyed everything you shared. I also learned a lot. I have watched several videos on living in Korea and I don't think anyone has gone into as much depth as you have, especially about small-town life in Korea. Most things seem to be about Seoul as if Seoul is the only city in Korea worth living in. I knew there had to be many more awesome cities than Seoul. I'm currently working on getting everything ready to apply for an Epik position and was told that there is a huge possibility that they'll send non-white people to other parts of the country. I am very happy to know you and your friends are thriving and doing well in your small town. Yay! That makes me feel better. Again, thanks for sharing. I am very interested in seeing more videos about small-town life, good and not so good. I like your honesty.
Honestly, I was concerned when I saw how long the video was. I’m so glad and relieved that you enjoyed it. Once you settled and know your way around, it becomes more enjoyable. I hope you are planning on coming over this side.
heya, i am loving this conversation. by which month can one buy that iPhone???? lolz, and which south African bank is better when coming to charges/rates?
Great video, with regards to sending money home. I saw Buhle Mbola and Palesa Jonas explain that you need to tell the teller at the bank to transfer money from Won to Zar. That will save you money, try that ladies. Even on the group South Africans in SK they explained that process. All the best girls, I'm also applying for the fall intake next month
Not every bank has that option. That’s why we had to make bank accounts with a different bank; KEB Hana is the only one we know of that transfers money straight to Rands.
Thank you so much for your subscription. So Lethabo sent me a text when she saw that we were both placed at the same province (we applied with the same agent, so we know where we were placed). It turned out that not only was Lethabo and I placed in the same province, but we were also placed at the same town! And I met Noxie at orientation, we were waiting for the elevator, and then it turned out that we were neighbours..at orientation. We’ve been friends since then.
Hi lethabo. Thank you so much for ur videos. Really informative. Just one question, can one survive without a laptop for the first two months in Korea 🇰🇷?
@Letty Maps the World Do you know any South Africans who are placed in rural South Korea? Would you recommend it? Taking into account banks, transport and savings?
Hey Kalyssa, don’t stress too much about the rural areas in Korea. They are not so rural hey. They are what we call small towns. I know plenty of SAns in rural areas and they have access to banks, transportation , and all their needs are easily met.
When I set up my first bank account; the one that my salary goes into. I went with my coteacher but the second bank account, I went alone and thank God the teller could speak English
Hey sis! I haven’t seen ladies in Hijab. But I’m sure they are there, especially in bigger cities. I haven’t seen any Halal signs at restaurants. It might be difficult to find them.
Lethabo's neighbour is so caring, she's so fortunate to have such neighbour. I believe I can settle well over there, but as for spicy food, NO. Thank you for another great video. I watched both parts. Well done 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
