A backpack is much more convenient than a toolbox, specially considering that you will have to rely on public transportation after selling your car to buy all those tools. Clever.

I'm retired from the electrical trade, but it was my experience that any kind of "backpack" type of tool carrier had the potential of gaining weight as tools would be added over time to the point of the bag not being as practical as first intended. It starts out being organized but ends up being not so organized.

I ve been carrying my Veto propac for almost 3 years, same essential tools, everytool goes back to it's exact designated compartement after every use, I can close my eyes and grab any tool I want because I ve kept the exact same layout for almost 3 years of daily use! It's amazing! I ve met guys who were used to throw all their tools in buckets try backpacks, and they end up using the backpack like a bucket, randomly throwing tools in it...

The main reason this is useful is if you are walking and someone from behind unzips the bag and as for the zip being able to be opened with a pen a higher end zip will most likely break the pen or if you use an alternative to a pen that is stronger and more suited for the job then the zip will most likely break showing that someone had definitely forced entry in to the bag because you could think that you lost an item if it is missing but if you have confirmation the zip is broken you can then say it was most likely stolen and you didn't misplace it whilst working
