  • Following on from Part 8 of my Creative Journaling Series, in this video I walk you through the materials and process I use to make my concertina sketchbooks. I also show some quick ways of "breaking in" the blank pages of a new sketchbook.

The day that TH-cam put one of your videos in my feed was an excellent day indeed! I am thrilled to have found you, Sharon. I have recently been gifted with an enormous paper pad - 18 x 24, and I have been wanting to do something creative with this wonderful mixed media paper. I have also recently been getting more into neurographic art. So relaxing! I adore watercolours and have been longing to try working with acrylic inks, too. I am excited to make one of these journals and get started! You have given me an enormous spark of inspiration and enthusiasm to try something new. Thank you so very much! Love and Bless xo

Well I'm thrilled to read your comment! I'm really happy my videos have helped build a new spark of inspiration and enthusiasm for your art. I love 18 x 24 mixed media paper, so many ways you can use it. Neurographic art sparked a lot of new ideas for me and I also find it really relaxing and enjoyable. Happy creating!

So cool! 💕 Thank you for showing me how you make your concertina books. I want to call it a slinky book. I didn’t get a real close look at your glue bottle. Here are my favorite suggestions in any case: needle-tipped applicator bottles and an adhesive eraser. If you’ve never used an adhesive eraser, be sure to erase in only one direction. Your big books are fabulous. I 💕 the bright colors. Will you put covers on them someday? I imagine them that way. 😊

Thanks for commenting! Yes, slinky books...that's what they feel like in my hand! The glue I use is an ordinary PVA, no particular brand, which I put in the little applicator bottle for ease of use. I've never used an adhesive eraser but I'll look out for one.
I love the bright colours in the big books as well and I'll probably add covers eventually. I'm currently taking the ideas from the bright coloured book and trying it on canvas.
