Baffin Bay Spring Time Speckled Trout

On our third trip down in Baffin Bay Jody and I took on the conditions that after a strong northern wind the day before and heading to the Tide Gauge Bar. After catching a few on a Soft Dine XL and Jody's tried and true wake bait, I noticed that the trout were not fully committing to the bigger baits. I downsized to a 4" saucer shad by STX lures and that's when the hook ups were more consist. Being able to figure out what the fish wanted was key to catching these trout and understanding that aspect turned this trip into a productive day on the water.

Great work as always. I noticed up here the trout had a soft bite, they were not thumping it. Every fish was a thick one.

It was a soft bite and on the pause. Not the instant the pause started but a second or two after. A sensative rod helps!

Yes I can agree with you on that...it definitely does help...do you know a guy who can built such sensitive rods!?!?!? LOL. Every trip out fishing the 6'6" and 6'7" you've built me, I fall more and more in love with them and the action and versatility. Hands down two of my favorite to fish with.

Fishing a couple bays north of you. Soft trout bites have been name of the game for me this year. Lil John been making it happen

Yes sir it has been for sure. You can't go wrong with the Lil John, but you can't forget the 4" Saucer Shad either by STX lures with that garlic scent...it's been money!
