    Ok future college students, turn off this crap and listen right here. There's nothing more important than this:
    1. Choose a subject you know you're interested in. Being a businessman or a lawyer is not for everybody and i've seen way to many people dropping out because of choosing something they're not truly interested in. College is not about knowledge. It's about becoming an adult, facing real life and self-disciplining yourself. Remember that line.
    2. Study. Slaking off is always tempting and hard to fight, but at the end of the day it's a waste of time. College is a once in a lifetime thing. The only reason to skip on studying is to have really memorable experiences with your friends and future colleagues. There's nothing worse than looking at that half-assed diploma and wondering why you sat on your fat ass picking your nose in front of a computer or console instead of studying for at least an hour a day. You can always pass an exam, try to pass it well, discipline yourself, because once you start working nobody will give a shit weather you had a sudden need to do nothing for a day or not.

    Go to class and take notes. Get your work done early. Go to office hours. You're there to learn, not goof off and waste money. You'll have plenty of time to be a DB after college. If you have extra time, have a good time. That's how you survive college.

    better advice:
    DON'T GET LOANS!!!!!!!!!!!
    if you're going for any kind of art degree DON'T GO TO COLLEGE!
    trust me I've even got this advice from artist who work in the gaming industry etc. everything art wise you need to learn can be easily learned with a google search for tutorials, plenty of youtube tutorials, companies will not give too shits about your degree, whats important is a very good art portfolio or demo reel, companies only care that you can do the job and do it very well, thats it.
    anyone wanting to be animators, look up Happy Harrys animation tutorial 12 part series teaching everything i learned in animation classes. you'll improve faster on your own than in college since you'll be focusing on art only while college makes you waste time with non related classes for the next 2-4 years that you'll never use

    @ #4... Every semester that I was in college I scheduled my classes two days a week only. People who go every single day just confuse me. Having a four day weekend with one day of rest in between your two days of classes is amazing.

    Best advice: kick that High School bullcrap to the curb, and realize college isn't anything like it. It's not a place for all to worry about social status like being a jock, the pretty one, or the popular one. The hard working computer nerds, I guarantee outshine both in getting the good paying job when it comes to today's technology industry. Jocks, picking at them like you did in High School also gives them the right to drop a harassment charge on you, so I wouldn't risk it.. Plus cursing everywhere like a "badass" only makes *you* the joke of the school. ;]
    College is also a bridge to the *real adult world.* Teens, you walked the path of screwing around as a kid and typically reach the end of that road at 18. If you want to get a place of your own with a good full-time paying job, community college would be your best start. It mentally prepares you for whatever hard work gets dropped on you at a job. You can try and give it a shot with getting a good job at certain places without college, but even if you're a prodigy, it's definitely not guaranteed.
    Finally, be assertive, responsible, shoot for the highest grades, and just a small piece of advice: try and save the relationships *after* you get the right job when graduating. It will *not* be a fun time trying to focus on school if you get hit with drama from relationships, or raising a kid..

    • @andrewsmith74
      @andrewsmith74 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Social status is just as important and cliques are just as prevalent in college as in high school. Nerds are picked on and don't get laid at college - just like at high school.

    • @sparklingdaisy3169
      @sparklingdaisy3169 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andrewsmith74 So, you think it's more important to get laid, than to be smart and get a high paying job. You must be pissed that the kids you bullied in high school are doing far better than you in the job market.

    10. Keep your head down.
    9. Don't speak unless spoken too.
    8... lol. JK.
    Meet new people, make friends in your classes, keep in touch with your current friends, always have someone you can study with, and don't expect partying. College isn't about going to parties, it's about educating yourself in preparation for a career. In other news, you shouldn't go to college unless you have a career in mind that REQUIRES a degree.
    Oh, and take it from me, have a piece of fruit with your coffee. And, always make the coffee yourself. Your stomach will thank you for it, and you'll end up feeling better. If you don't have time to make it, look for a 7-Eleven. If you have a 7-Eleven nearby, they have coffee for 2 dollars and under, and all refill sizes are fixed. For me it's $1.25. Keep your nutrition up, and take this time to practice portion control.

      +MDiPietro16 That's the thing though. I had every possible distraction available at my fingertips and I got caught up in thinking that I had all the time in the world, which led to a bunch of procrastination on my part. I only recommended taking a bunch of online courses if you're a person who has an excellent sense of self-discipline and time management.
      I had no choice but to do online course only because my financial aid got screwed up and I wasn't able to secure a dorm before the deadline. It was either do online or be a whole semester behind.
      Plus, I also had to travel back and forth between states just to take my midterms and finals since the test had to be proctored. Now THAT really sucked.

    Graduated a private college in Science.
    MAJOR ADVICE: Always...ALWAYS, review the lecture that you attended the same day. Don't care if it's for 15 minutes, 30 minutes or an hour...REVIEW IT! While reviewing it take ONE sheet of paper out and write down concepts you DON'T know or understand. This way when the test approaches you use that one sheet per lecture to review.

    when I was in college last year all the classes pretty much were tuesday+thursday or monday+wednesday. I mostly opted for a purely tuesday/Thursday route. (it was a 2 year degree for a phlebotomy lesson. the phlebotomy class itself was actually only on Thursday nights from 6-9 for like 2 months. but I opted for an associates, and also took English, math, psychology, and some medical based classes like cpr+first aid and medical terminology. cpr was a refresher and only took one Monday afternoon though)

Find test banks, previous years midterms, finals, cheat in all quizzes, always go to your TA to complain about your grade no matter what you get. If ur not ready for a test dont take it at all, get a doctors note. You follow all these steps you will be doing a lot better, coming from a 4th year economics major

    In Berlin we nearly only have lectures and no classes. And you can not choose the lectures in which you want to write an exam (in my University). You can however just visit random lectures whenever you want. But you get credit for language lessons. Oh and ofcourse the only things you pay for are the ticket for public transportation and maybe books. However you can get all the books in the university library. By the way I never had to write an essay. Only short protocols for experiments we did.

    My number one recommendation would be to pick a major that will 1) actually land you a good paying job and 2) has growth potential. So many pick majors that are simply fun or interesting without ever seeing if there's any future in it. That's why you run into people with college degrees working as waiters or waitresses; there are no jobs for their degree.

    • @shygirl2927
      @shygirl2927 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +cz luver there are jobs you just need to research. my school has counselors that help students pick their majors and select classes and yes even look at jobs that correspond with their major. even for classes with the word studies in them.

    • @czluver4338
      @czluver4338 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      shygirl2927 I have a degree in Electrical Engineering so have never had a problem finding a job. What I'm saying is that a lot of kids pick a major without ever looking into whether they'd be able to get a job after college or they pick a major where after graduation, graduates are a dime-a-dozen. Comes down to supply and demand.

    • @shygirl2927

      cz luver yes I know. I agree that it's a problem but i'm saying if that type of job is what someone really wants to do then they can they should just look into it. ask the seniors or ask professors with those majors what they are going to do/did or what one could do with that degree.

    my 4 biggest advises for college/university( im a college student)
    1.Dont stick with what the professor teaches or says ,study on different sourses
    2.Cheapest food its better than no Food at all(as bonus.. exercise best stress reliever )
    3.We as college students are truthfully just "KIDS WITH ID"
    4.(for women) its highly advisable(each one their own) to wait for finishing college to have kids (i have friends whose whole college life , and life in general was ruined, not to mention extra expenses and college abandonment .
    and ... ir you are reading this i wish you an awesome day ,and success on everything you do

    i never got involved, its not something for me. I carry my one full time internship, and hang out with my engineering group every once in a while. If anything make friends in your major is key. If you don't understand they can help you out, you can all work on something together, and they will share a majority of your classes so if you ever skip or miss class, they have your back. I don't know what I would do if I acted like i did in high school in college and just did everything alone.

    The real issue is finding a job afterwards. I have a scriptwriting degree and I can't find a job; filmmaking is more of a people business I understand that. But the jobs I've applied for I've been rejected because I've got no experience. It's a weird aspect of life that doesn't make sense. I studied something I enjoy, graduated and now find myself doing nothing all day because retail won't have me due to lack of experience and the indie filmmakers won't pay, in order to save money (and they have no budget). Writing shorts doesn't earn any money and it's a miracle if they even get made.

    It's weird watching this as I am done with college. For people going in, I would say find a balance between studying and having fun. When you pick your schedule do what you think is best of you, or at least as close as possible. For me my attention span isn't great, so I would never schedule all my classes on one day, that would suck. Having classes on Friday isn't bad, actually it'll be hard not to have that.

    Three pieces of advice that I have.
    1) Find a way to pay for college ahead of time. If you've served in the US Military for two years or longer after 9/11 and received a discharge that is better than dishonorable or bad conduct, you qualify for the post-9/11 GI Bill. They pay your tuition, pay you a stipend, and pay for your books. So, more or less a free ride as long as your school's VA office does it's job well. If not, you'll have to CYA from time to time.
    2) Pick a college that is right for you, your goals, and has the right atmosphere for you. You don't want to go to a school that you're going to hate after a few months. If you're a conservative, go to a conservative school. If you're a liberal, go to a liberal school. If you're like me and have the attitude "Give me an education, don't try to tell me how to think," then make sure that you do your research.
    3) If you're stuck in a class where you have a teacher that is more interested in indoctrinating you and/or is petty and grades you based on how much they like you, just smile and nod whether you agree or not. They're used to 18-20 year olds who have little to know experience with the real world and are, on some level, looking for validation. It's not worth fighting back against these teachers, as they will try to railroad you and the school will ALWAYS side with them.

    Also don't be afraid to take the weird electives if they look interesting. You're just getting an elective credit anyway, so it's okay to "throw it away" on a class on werewolves or the complete history of Star Trek.

    Can someone give me an advice? Sorry for the bad english onwards, but I think I really need one as of now. Lately, I noticed that my girlfriend had lots of calls on her phone, and when I ask who is it, she always hungs it up quickly and she said it's one of her friends/business contacts. I also noticed that recently, she goes home in our rented apartment late, and when I ask why was she late, she always tell me that she went overtime because of her team building meet, although when I checked her slip, she had no overtime fee and I was a bit suprised since as far as I know, they didn't had any team building meets since 3 months ago. So, I went to her boss and asked about this, but her boss said that they only did team building meets only one time with her co-office mates a long time ago (which confirms that I was right), and as an extra, she's been absent on that meet, and her boss told me that she's been absent in her work a couple of days as well. The next day, she went out and told me she'll be attending her "urgent team building meet", so, keeping a distance, I followed her with my motorbike, and not far away from our place, a man fetched her on his car. I stopped my motorbike from a distance to make sure they won't hear me and observed them, and when they were going to drive out, I was about to follow then but when I start the engine, it died on me. So I want to ask for advice, where would the problem be? Is it the spark plug that caused the starting to fail, or is it on the main engine? The clutch, perhaps? Please give me a good advice. Thanks for noticing.

    #4 is a little dumb....how can you sign up for classes Monday-Thursday or schedule them all in one day? At my college, we have classes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and classes on Tuesday and Thursday. However, some classes are just Monday and Wednesday and you can just not sign up for classes on certain days, but there's no way you'll be able to do that all 4 years, or even 1 year, and expect to be able to graduate on time with all of your credits
