Boiler is 14 years old , never have used rust inhibitor it’s been running since I bought it. I run year round heats my hot water. Thank you for the question
It looks like part of the problem may be the wrong type of bolt. You may need to use a bolt with a collar on it. If the threads jam inside the bushing that can make the handle work hard and in turn break the bolt. It may have had the wrong bolt in it from the manufacturer.
