Toby got the Emmy for it. Well deserved. And it set the tone for the show the entire time. That episode turned The West Wing from a 1 -2 season show that gets forgotten about, to a powerhouse. Winning an Emmy in Season 1 gets you more money than you thought of. Because of that, the show, builds an empire. All because of In Excelsis Deo.
@@douglassauvageau7262 And what do you think was the reason for the world to watch it? This episode. Because of the awards. It literally changed everything. Instead of getting canceled after two or three seasons and forgotten about, they got a serious budget. Which in turn makes better episodes for the seasons down the line. Also, production as a whole. Thanks for making my point.
The Homeless Vet dying "last night" is The REAL....the Full Military Funeral is The REEL. Both are similar to breathing the air one minute and dreaming the next! 👋
Thank you for posting! I'm the trumpet player on the end / right side.
That’s very cool !!
This episode and the one where Mrs Landingham talks about missing her sons always cause me to tear up.
At 7:17, I once became a part of an Honor Guard. The three-volley salute is one of my proudest moments while serving in the Corps.
One of TVs finest moments. Merry Christmas all!
"Oh, shut up! I am going to dinner with you." -Jordan
Just want to say Merry Christmas. Best wishes to you all from the small island nation mentioned in Hartsfield's Landing.
"We can only hope Sir".
One of my favourite episodes ever, always get me, those shots as Little Drummer Boy is sung
Mrs. Landingham's 6 words just break my heart. IYKYK.
In Excelsis Deo was the best The West Wing Episode ever! #S1E10
That episode absolutely gutted me.

Richard Schiff’s best moment. Toby’s finest hour.
@@Padfoot1985 It was more than a single episode. This was probably the best written series in the history of television.

merry christmas and happy holidays to all!
I think I know which fantasy world I want to live in now
It’s the little things that matters.
I know Bartlet For America is considered a Christmas episode, but there’s nothing Christmassy about it. Except for PB’s gift to Leo at the end.
Committee hearings are never that dark 😂😂😂
The season 6 Christmas episode was Impact Winter.
Should have ended with Josh and Donna walking out of the White House to the bell choir, the first campaign stop happens after Christmas.
Why all the negative? Beautiful written
8:32 okay that might set off anyone
I like it! But Josh is right... it's a little like being in a mall! Lol
Should’ve started with Toby. That first clip was flat out depressing.
I mean…sheesh!
The homeless war veteran dying "last night" and getting a full military funeral the following day seems a bit far fetched. A lovely storyline, though.
