In this video, you will learn how to change the space between the heading number and the title. This gap is usually predefined in Word and fits if you don't change the font size. But once you make the font larger, the empty space between the numbering and the heading text will increase rapidly and might become too large.

If this video helped you, you could do me an awesome favor and destroy that like button 😍🙌 Thanks a lot!
This was my exact issue! You're a lifesaver!
Glad I could help ☺️❤️
After looking at this and other resources, I find it much cleaner to just define a new multi-level list and follow the number with spaces (as opposed to tabs). That makes everything consistent throughout the document. This method prevents extra spaces for section 1-9 compared to sections 10+ or even 99+. I pity the person with more than 99 sections though.
Yes, custom list styles are always a great option! Just didn't want to go into that much detail in this video as there are quite a few customization options :)
This video saved me so much time, thank you!

Thx man, this "Word" making me crazy 🤦♂

What if the spacing is happening before the numbers? And pushing all the way to the right?
Then you likely have a left indentation ("Before text:")
Why when I do this, even the heading is indented? Not the space is reduced, but the heading moves a little to the right? Thanks!
Not sure what exactly you mean, but when you click into the heading paragraph and look at the ruler, you will always see 2 indent markers. The one to the right is the hanging indent and this one defines by how much your heading will be indented. The one to the left is for the number. And then you could potentially also have a tabstopp in between these two which would lead to the heading being aligned to the tabstop instead of the hanging indent.
This was my exact problem and managed to fix it based on the Info he provided you. It was left aligned far to much and was forcing the space infront of the numbers.
I set mine to zero yet still space 😢
