Really looking forwards to this plane. Airclips has a wonderful series on Lufthansa's (former) MD-11 cargo fleet with Claudia and Inge as they do a tour of Asia. One of my favourites, and you get to learn a lot of nuances of flying the MD-11. Planning on recreating that route as soon as it's released!
My first criteria to buy a plane is the sound and on this one it's just superb. What a nice sound. This plane is fantastic looking.
The rotate MD-11 for X-Plane 12 is very advanced. Been flying it for about 1 year now. My new favorite tube liner.
Yes, the 12.08 version is even better in autopilot performance and FPS
I just want to say that I'm totally happy flying cargo in my BIG 738BCF. Totally not super jealous of watching you flying cargo with the MD-11! :P
My 738 is so big, so much space, don't look at MD-11 baby xD

Thank you for the video! In a year this plane will be absolutely amazing, I prefer to wait a bit until it is polished and then I will get it, since at the moment it looks more like and alpha than a beta.

It definitely does. That's why it's still a beta. But a very promising one.
Is it out for people to buy or is theirs a preview. I cam very confused as I see 2 Md11, which one is which? They are made by 2 different people but idk which one is the better one.
@@DadaTBDFThere is a SkySim one and the TFDI one. SkySim was extremely rushed and almost looks like port of FSX with minor changes. TFDI is currently in beta for the Collectors Edition buyers, in which only like 100 were sold. It’s going to be awhile for the TFDI, but I advise DO NOT BUY THE SKYSIM MD11
@@DadaTBDFThe Skysimulations MD-11 was the first to release but is not up to standards of which many people would want to fly leading some people (myself included) to rather invest into the TFDI MD-11 project which promises a highly realistic experience.
To many the SkySim MD-11 was a placeholder for the anticipated TFDI MD-11. Further more, those who have access to the TFDI MD-11 are those who have the ‘COLLECTORS EDITION’ title which states that they get a additional early 60 days to use the aircraft before it is released to the greater public.
The plane you view in this video is the EARLY edition of the MD-11 by TFDI with it being the first edition it is still not 100% feature complete and therefore still are a lot of changes that need to be changed before it could be released on the market for consumer use.

I'm really looking forward to the MD11. I felt similar to you. I was also afraid that the MD11 wouldn't be coming to the sim any time soon. And I'm really glad that TFDI has taken on the plane. There is the Rotate in X-Plane, but that didn't convince me at all.
I'm already looking forward to cargo ops with the MD11 in MSFS^^
I remember as a boy reading about the MD-11 in an issue of Flying magazine in 1992. I believe it was the first US-manufactured all-glass cockpit airliner. Can't wait to fly this one when it releases.
Hi, I like watching your Videos beginning with The PMDG 737. I was flying the Rotate MD-11 in X-Plane 12 and the Plane is very good. So During the summer spent 2 months painting an American and Hawaiian Version But, In your approach, I noticed the Aft Trim was all the way back to the tail and that is why it was stalling. That has happened to me before in the Rotate MD-11 I do not know why that happened during your Approach. As always Really Enjoy your Videos very Comprehensive.

They certainly do. In my opinion they released too early, but you can definitely see the potential this plane has.
Can you say whether your other MD-11 videos that are currently part of your business class membership, will move down the ranks and will be available to the economy class of your memberships?

Love how this MD-11 looks, but on the point you mentioned of it not being super popular.. I do have to sadly say my heart is more belonging to the L-1011 over the MD-11 but ill take any tri-jet I can get.

I'd need an American license for that and for the conversion you need to retake the theory plus get a green card first. Too high investment to honest.
I bought the collector's version and I really don't regret it. It is true that the plane has some flaws, bugs and issues but otherwise it looks great. The only thing is that to fly this plane you must have quadrants, yoke and pedals, things that I don't have since I fly with a keyboard and mouse. But otherwise it is worth every penny spent on this plane and it is still in WIP.
Hope the sounds have improved for release let alone rest of the issues.
38:52 Im mostly into nostalgia, so im in for the MD-11 as an addon. Unfortunately i could not free enough space to install MSFS at all.
Now i prefer dials over glass, but a combo works as well. The MD-11 is almost full glass, but the nostalgia is still nice for me.
Besides, i worked for an airliner that operated the MD-11. I've been inside a few and i've seen some simulatorwork. I'm not a pro pilot myself, just a hobbyist.
Where you got the checklists from? I'd like to follow the procedures also in the right way
Really like your videos…very helpful. I did a few flights with the 11 as well, and I agree with your findings: ILS approach needs some rework (loc capture too early), (auto)stab trim is dodgy, I had some issues with the autopilot- it disengaged out of a sudden and I couldn‘t re-engage it, the plane is too responsive- doesn’t feel like a heavy. But overall, there is potential. At this stage, the TFDI is already a 1000 times better than the Sky Simulations LOL
Loving the vids of this machine! I think this will come along nicely. In one year time this would be a beauty and a delight to fly in.

Override switch needs to be on when anti-ice is used from what I remember
seems to have still system mistakes: during engine start N1 APU sh'd be 98-100% and the blue text "cargo door test" sh'd appear when starting eng.3
01:28:44. it's because you've touched the brakes manually meanwhile it sh'd be done by the autobrakes. That's why autobrakes are disconnected

Great Video!.. question for you.. Experiencing aircraft only obtaining LOC on ILS, but does not catch GS on every airport I flew into so far.. how can you get the GS captured on this plane? I dont think its working for me!
Make sure to intercept the localizer before the glideslope.

Thx for very interesting video. I fly in out of EGSS a lot in sim as the scenery for the airport is great without breaking my average PC. It’s nice to hear some real life commentary on the airport approach. One note I thought the EGSS shitty comment was unnecessary. Now you’re flying the pond it’s not a place you need to think about. Wasn’t that interested in MD11 but will see what the release version is like.
Regarding the shitty stansted comment, that's what we said about it in real life all the time as well. Not many liked to fly there, handling was messy, ATC always used minimum separation leaving no room for error at all, you had a very short runway as they wanted you to vacate on the first exit and finally they always keep you very high on the approach. Not a place many like to fly to, thus the shitty stansted developed.

I'd say about equal.
As I can see, FD's require improvement by developers, especially vertical one... Their behaviour very sensitive...
That's definitely going to be necessary, but keep in mind this is just a first beta that we see here.

Hey, I’m flying on PMDG 737 I’ve notice that all click spots are suddenly offset slightly to the left? Have you had this issue before?
Hi, haven't had that before. I suggest to contact PMDGs support about it.
Just a thought - I believe there is a 'lens correction' option in MSFS graphics settings. Try disabling that if it's enabled, I find in the Fenix A320 that it makes all the click spots go weird - might be something to try.

Looks decent, but I doubt this will be as good as Rotate's MD 11 in X Plane.
Let's wait and see. It surely shows potential. Where TFDI will ultimately bring is remains to be seen.
@737NGDriver Agreed. It does have a lot of potential and could be the best MD 11 in flight simming. Rotate's MD 11 is old at this point, but we'll see how far TFDI goes with this. Are we going to get an IXEG 737-300 video from you...that will be dope.

Is 40k pounds of cargo realistic for an md-11f?
Yes. However many other weights are as well. With cargo you have to think in terms of volume rather than weight. You might have some lightweight material that you transport which takes up all the cabin space but weights very little. Or you might have very heavy cargo that takes up only a small part of the cabin, but reaches maximum payload weight. Might not look impressive in the hold but both can equally fill up the airlines pockets.

I've flown pirated versions of airplanes in other flight sims that flew much better than the TFDI MD-11, LOL.

No, it's not true. One of my viewers legally gifted me his copy (and obviously ceased using it himself as otherwise it would indeed be illegal). Gifting (or reselling) software is allowed by European law and unless I have reason to believe he did not stop using it (which I don't have) there is nothing wrong with this.

It will be eventually, with failures and some CBs modeled (Requires purchase of "expansion pack" after release date when its done or if you pre-purchase you get it a little bit cheaper)

There's zero benefit to pre ordering. This version was delayed I think 3 times. I'd expect the full release to be delayed as well lol.
