I don't think DogDay died when the critters crawled in him.
During the chase you can actually hear him gurgling, and he screams when you lock him out at the end.
I'm pretty sure he was alive and feeling for that whole chase, making it even more horrifying

What I find terrifying is that The Prototype ACTIVELY records. Like, seconds after the researcher talked, he mimicked it with PRECISION. That just shows how smart he is.
I would say he's Absolutely Horrifying but yeah, smart works too.
one theory that stuck with me was that the cutouts are the Critters’ thoughts during “The Hour of Joy”. Trying to help the employees escape. KickingChicken asking to go outside, DogDay telling you to fetch and saying “why arent you moving”. Hoppy saying “NO dont look at your feet theres no time for that now!! JUMP”. Another user pointed out that they were probably impaled trying to jump, which is why Picky didnt mention eating them
bonus fact: cannibals have said human meat looks like beef but tastes like pork. Which might explain the “Roast beef? mmmm” line and Picky’s willingness to eat her own friends (and maybe even parts of herself)

The cartoon now makes sense! Dog days legs were covered with a blanket and he was sitting next to catnap 💀 that could’ve been symbolic to him only having his upper torso when we found him chained up.
Not to mention he's also the only one on the couch with cat nap. But I'm not sure if that counts for something in anyway
I also heard that the way he was laying on the couch in the cartoon symbolizes how he was chained up in the game. So, you could be right!
You can also disturbingly hear dogdays legs being cut off in the screaming audio. You can hear him screaming more during the cutting and the bang on his lower half falling to the floor. 7:14

You know, the Prototype mimicked the researcher’s voice at the end of that tape, which means not only can it use the toys voices, but it can mimic human voices.
Suddenly, Ollie may not seem as trustworthy. It could be that they were compromised and the Prototype got to them, but we’ll see. Maybe Ollie is a different toy. Maybe they’re the last kid. Idk but I think it’s important to recognize that the Prototype is capable of mimicking anyone it’s heard.
At first I thought ollie was a kid too but in the long run that doesn't make sense because if he was one of the orphans then he wouldn't be a child anymore considering it has been 10 years since the hour of joy; unless he was a infant then who was taking care of him? How did he survive? So either he is the prototype mimicking trying to trick us, he's a toy that is trying to help us, or he IS a child but he's dead which is actually a theory of mine that he is maybe a child of Elliot Ludwig cause apparently 1. There was a dead child found at his house and 2. Elliot went through a tragic loss which they never clarified who BUT with everything we know about Elliot, maybe it was a child and he couldn't handle that loss so he tried to bring that child back in anyway he could, maybe as a toy or even Ollie could LITERALLY be the phone or the internet system which is how he can see everything we do.

If Ollie WAS the prototype, then he wouldn’t help with the gas production thing.
You know, they never did reveal what started the "Hour of Joy". The employees were unaware of what's happening until the massacre started. That emergency broadcast could have been heard throughout the factory and that message at the end was obviously written by the Prototype, even then the employees would have already started evacuations. But how come no one managed to escape, did the Prototype managed to sealed off all entrances and exits? If so, how did he took control of all security?
Something i wonder too! We know we play as one of the workers, and cat naps says that we should have been there, but were all the workers there? How did it manage to bring everyone to work that day? were we the only one that didint go to work or its just that we are the only one that went back?
@@nlg7321 I know, every toy seems to know who we were long before the massacre, but how did we not show up in the 8th of August 1995? Were we fired? Did we quit? How did that parcel with the message and video manage to reach us after all those years and who sent it? All signs point towards the Prototype. Man, this is starting to feel like BioShock level story telling. A shocking twist is coming soon, I just know it.
If he did, it would explain why none of the toys left the factory. You would think they would have just left the second the food started to run low.
I also wonder why the police and later the army didn't show up.

Hundreds of missing people in one day is not something anyone can ignore, their families would be upset at their disappearance, even those tourists who were the first victims of Huggy's rampage must have had families who wanted answers. Unless there was an extensive coverup involved, I have no idea why this tragedy was ignored by the general population. I wish the devs have given us more info to work with, Bioshock devs at least went their way to pack as much backstory into the audio diaries.

I am such an idiot! I just realized DogDay is the antithesis of Catnap. One is a dog, the other is a cat. One has "day" in their name while the other has "nap" which is usually associated with night. One is orange to represent the day while the other is purple to represent the night. One is the leader and one is the silent watcher. One is outgoing while the other is quiet. And last but not least, one is evil and the other is dead, because he wasn't evil. That's so fun, I really like that!

One thing that i am curious about, is how Dogday sounds like more of an adult talking, understanding better what was happening and the torture he has gone through and how sound minded he was despite all of that... I think he was Richie, despite him so stressed out to work underground and not interacting with the kids, that could had make him perfect for a subject or taking the role lead of DogDay

I think each of the Smiling Cutouts hints at how their Bigger Body selves met their ends.
Bubba died when he tried to uncover secrets he was not supposed to know.
Kickin and Hoppy both wanted to leave but ended up falling to their deaths.
CraftyCorn was killed because she attacked her colleagues in a desperate act for more supplies.
PickyPiggy became addicted to the flesh of her friends and had to be put down .
Bobby fanatically wanted affection to the put she would do anything. Even if it meant being abandoned to die alone.

My tired brain with the two brain cells it has left just realized that the game has to take place in the year 2005. Because at 2:37 Catnap ( assuming that’s him controlling the radio voice) said the protagonist was supposed to be there 10 years ago ( 8-8-1995). So 10 years later after the hour of joy, it’s 2005!
Mike forgot about Bobby Bearhug's cutout lines in the video is what I noticed.
Since that one definitely has the most sadest of them all. That Bobby herself wanted a hug until she asks the listener.
"Can you take me with you? Please....take me with you...."
That one is definitely the saddest one that she is desperately wanting to escape and be free. Wanting to at least be like her toy persona, to be hugged and safe with love.

Almost all of Chapter 3's storytelling is very well done, especially the foreshadowing!
So our protagonist chose a real good day to take a mental health day.
The fact Rich Avery has a tape in every chapter makes me feel like he is going to be the one we are playing as, or he will be revealed in the last chapter to have a gruesome end while doing something above and beyond his character.
I've seen people say that the Dogday that gets assimilated by the plushies sounds kind of like him, so I guess we'll see...
What if that construction worker in catnaps shrine is rich ?
I mean I could be wrong but I think Rich Avery was a delivery guy, as in his tape, it sounds like he is dropping off a package of sorts.

If you listen closely, the child (named Joseph) that interrupts the scientist on tape 4 (subject 1322) can be heard in tape 3 (goodbye Samuel) asking Ms Brooks who was going to be chosen. It’s clear that this specific kid was probably catching on to what was going on.
I'm curious if Joseph is on the list of children slated for the smiling critters bigger bodies list, because he strikes me as Bubba bubbaphant.
Imagine if Mob makes a prequel game where we play as Joseph and we slowly uncover the truth of all that's happening behind the scenes. I'd be all up for that lol

@@Sanguine_Vampyre like what the commenter said; Joseph seemed to be catching on to what was really going on, that wouldn't quite make him some "random kid.", plus he was literally on the verge of uncovering the truth. (Seen in the VHS where he interrupts the scientist.)
And also, this would be a PREQUEL game. By that it means Joseph would be alive for the story.
I'm sorry, but how do they expect me to believe that a toy line full of constantly smiling animals with black eyes and white dots in said eyes only had a singular toy that induced nightmares? Like, every single one of those critters would've given little kid me hundreds of sleepless nights.

Most toys you had as a kid had black eyes. Like stuffed animals for example.
the "goodbye sam!" scene reminded me so much of the promised neverland anime (never finished it, wish i did lol) when they eventually said bye to the kids who they assume are getting adopted, not knowing their true fate. this game was terrifying!! the voice actors and animators did amazing constructing this, and of course the writers. the story intrigues me so much! hopefully all questions get answered in chapter four :)
dont finish the anime, just continue to manga. Anime sucks, the manga's ending is not good, but wayyyyyyyyyyyyy better than the anime

I feel bad for Stella, honestly. It genuinely sounds like she didn't know about the human experimentation going on. The confusion seems genuine.
Stella def know abt the experiment, shes the head of playcare and we see her tube slide in ch2 alongside Leith Pierre, she just prob upset tht they didn't inform her tht Jeremy were going to be experimented
shes either completely unaware of the experiements, or just choosingto try and force as many kids to get adopted to minimalise abuse
I think there's a few option. Maybe she didn't know at first and then found out later after this tape. Maybe (as noted below) she didn't know Jeremy was chosen. Maybe she legitimately didn't know where the bigger bodies came from and so she knew that Mommy Long Legs existed but had no idea how they made her (like that she's a really, really good toy).
The "No!" at 19:36, it makes me wonder if Claire is Mommy Long-Legs instead of Marie. During chapter 2, Mommy says that the children called her Mommy since she was the closest thing to one they had. This doesn't make sense since her name is Mommy. But if she was talking about her time as a counselor at PlayCare, it would make more sense. The children under her care called her Mommy. This would also fix a problem that I've always had with the Transfer Request. In an official document for company purposes, the SUBJECT of a request form should be the reason for the request. Therefore, if Claire was Mommy, the form would be saying that Marie Payne was causing Mommy Long-Legs to become hostile, like we see in the VHS, so send her to the Game Station. Also, if there are employees that don't know about the experimentation, it would be a bad idea to put on a form that this thing you work with used to be this person. Which none of the other documents do to my knowledge. This would be the only one.
Sorry if this is too out there of a theory, but like I said, the Transfer Request has always bugged me, and this makes a bit more sense to me.

This could work, especially since she takes a parental role while playing with the children. I just don’t see a child taking care of other children as easily, so Claire makes sense

I think the Miss delight who knew about human organs and anatomy is the one we encounter, because she has the most knowledge on how to kill the others the quickest and easiest
My theory is, the one we encounter is the only one named Miss Delight. In one of the tapes there was a "Miss Brooks," she could have been a teacher doll for all we know. Keep in mind, Miss Delight didn't eat the other teachers until a while after the Hour of Joy
It's medical professionals that are the most dangerous, because those who know how to heal know how easiest to BREAK you.
i like the fact that she specifically mentioned blood vessels run for 60,000 miles, which is usually the amount in children, whereas adults usually run for about 100,000.
That little tape between Leith and Catnap really makes me hope that he gets some karmic justice. I knew he was already not the most moral character but his talking down to Catnap was just downright cruel.
Leith supposedly escaped, but I want to see him return and get torn to shreds.

It doesn't excuse him, but he's head of security, not someone who has constant contact with the toys or children. Thus his poor social skills.

I kinda feel bad for Stella. She genuinely sounds like she’s in it for the kids and making their lives better by helping make toys, then eventually finding homes.
I think you said in your playthrough that it seemed like she wasn’t actually in on the experiments. She’s probably aware that they take kids away (bc she only sounded disappointed when she read that the kid was out for testing, not like in an “oh shit” tone), but isn’t sure what happens beyond that and just knows she won’t be able to adopt a child out. I think if she actually knew, she would’ve made a more believable lie than “I don’t know” (if she were in on it, I would think she would’ve kept a few believable lies in the back pocket just in case; assuming she probably would’ve KNOWN he was taken for testing BEFORE the adoptive parents showed up).
Yeah definitely. I get lost on the timelines so pardon me but is she the new head of the company or a high management position when Ludwig got old and decades have passed? I don’t remember her being mentioned in the earlier games.
@@ghostinlovewithaflower From the looks of it, Stella started out as a regular worker making toys, but she eventually worked her way up into becoming the head of (specifically) PlayCare. I think I recall a moment in chapter 3 where Mike (SuperHorrorBro) looked at all the doors that showed who the head of certain departments were, and it showed that Stella was the head of PlayCare (A.K.A., the orphanage)
@@ghostinlovewithaflower From what I remember, Stella was first mentioned in a VHS tape in chpt 1.
In chpt 1, the tape was a her interview tape for first getting a job at Playtime.
In chpt 2, we learn she was the overseer of the Game Station, she was responsible for overseeing kids in the area and recording their progress and aptitudes. Some people have seen this as seeing that she was involved with the experiments.
However, in chpt 3, we learn that she's oblivious to it all it seems. She's such a key player in the development of the kids and moved up in the management of Playtime, but was kept in the dark about the Bigger Bodies Initiative and it's other experiments regarding the orphans.
And if you remember that in Chapter One, she had her interview VHS and she really wished that she could be a kid forever.
I used to think Stella could be Poppy but I realize she's not because Poppy could've also been Elliot Ludwig's adoptive daughter who died on disease and he resurrected her with Poppy flower through science. Also, Elliot could be The Prototype himself as he sealed Poppy in a case to protect her.
She may have simply thought they were testing out concept toys with the children in the playcare, hence why she says "oh", not a surprised one but more of a "why wasn't I notified of this earlier" one.
I personally really like Rick Avery. He sound and act like a grumpy man, but he does care for the kids.
One theory suggests that we’ve been Rick Avery this entire time, Rick Avery could be the protagonist’s true identity.

Honestly regarding the smiling critters cardboard tapes, What i find very interesting is the fact that from the sounds of it, not all the critters may not have lost their minds and were trying to potentially help some of the kids. Kickenchicken, Hoppy Hopscotch and Dogday all have lines that seem to imply that they were trying to help the children potentially, but ultimately ended up either failing to help or being killed in the process.
Dogday's cardboard cut out lines hit especially hard since you find it right after escaping his puppeted body.
The person who was voice acting over the huggy wuggy tape was so eerie I actually replayed it, great job on that voice acting dude
I feel bad for Samuel Lee, when they said “Goodbye Sam!” I was like “Man I feel bad because I know what happens to them” it felt like a final send off to Samuel.
Cultural Fact: Native Americans never say Goodbye, they say ‘see you later’ or ‘see you around’, to say Goodbye is like wishing bad luck or ill will on them, you only say Goodbye to the dead.

In other languages there three words for love. However in the English language there only one love. So I believe a lot got lose in translation and you just equate the word goodbye in English language to other word they speak in a native Indian tribe. Trust me a lot get lose in translation like the Japan good morning isn’t them saying get morning the closes to our English language is them saying you in good spirits this morning. You study the break down of language it very interesting. English is a mixture of Greek, Latin, and French with a few words and sounds of other language but the main huge three is what a listed above all mush together to make words, sentences etc.

The voice actor did so good for Ms. Harper, you can really hear the pain and sadness in her voice.
I had an idea that maybe some of the Smiling Critters tried to work together to escape Catnap, like Bobby Bearhug and Hoppy Hopscotch. Hoppy says that she wants to jump to the moon (which could mean escaping?), but keeps on failing. She then screams to jump, which is where her voice lines end. Bobby Bearhug says that she loves “you” to the moon and back, which I took as a reference to Hoppy’s lines. Bobby also seems to have died after Hoppy if my theory is correct, which is why she says “I’m lost without you”, referring to Hoppy being her only, or most trusted, friend.
You’re forgetting an important detail here, I think. CatNap is associated with the Moon and his chest emblem is literally a Moon.
Hoppy easily could’ve said “to the Sun and back”, but they didn’t. Makes me think that maybe the allusion there was to Hoppy trying to escape CatNap or trying to fight him, with Bobby obviously following.
Honesty, the last voice the Prototype uses, was that of the researcher himself. Wouldn't that imply that the Prototype is also capable of vocal mimicry?

Actually, Theo worked with the prototype. They tried to escape together, however it is implied Theo was hurt during this process, so the prototype had to take him back to the scientists, thus as punishment for his actions, he was added to the list. After his procedures, I think it is fair to say that catnap found hope in the prototype, and that he would be the one to save them all. Which just makes his ending all the more sad, someone he thought was a savior and whom he had trusted and worked with over a decade.. I definitely think this makes sense as both of them experienced the same hardships with both scientists and being locked away alone.
As copium, it looked as if catnap was offering himself to the prototype. So maybe theos happy now, knowing he could be useful to the prototype even in death.

The way Leith talked down to Catnap, KNOWING he was talking to Theo! Like wow! We knew from previous chapters that Leith was a jerk, but that tape really shows how much of one he was.
Edit: I wanted to tac on a theory to my comment. It's sounding like the experiments were done in a way that could have let the kids age mentally at the very least. Which makes things a lot sadder, can't imagine what that would have done to them both emotionally and psychologically. I'm guessing that now that we're somehow going DEEPER into the factory, we're going to start seeing signs of the children who it sounds like survived the Hour Of Joy. Who also would now be teens.
Any Human children wouldn’t have any food to have subsisted off of, and I sincerely doubt that they could hide from and fight off the ravenous, starving toys that inhabit all corners of the Factory.
Some headcanons!
- The elphant, the unicorn, and the chicken were actually all killed and eaten by Picky. That left Picky, Catnap, DogDay, and Hoppy.
- Hoppy and Kickin tried to escape before they were turned. Hoppy was the bossy and older leader, and Kickin was the more skittish and scared one.
- DogDay was able to subtly convince the two to leave, and tried to help them escape. Probably after they were turned, but the other two weren't.
Kicking tries to convince us it's alright though.
I don't think they needed to be convinced too hard to escape.

When I first listened to Hoppy Hopscotch's voicelines and the way she is desperate to successfully 'jump to the moon', I thought she was obsessed with reaching goals at height stakes (literally), and would take failures personally if she didn't accomplish.
It was then I realized "jumping to the moon" must have meant "jumping to escape". At 6:42, she's encouraging us(?) to not quit until we 'reach the moon'. At 6:49 - 6:54, she doesn't sound that desperate; she sounds panicked, as if something was chasing after her and us. Then at 6:55 - 6:59... We didn't 'make it to the moon' at all, sadly.

When CraftyCorn mentioned the color blue at 7:31, all I thought of it was Huggy Wuggy, since he is the first monster-in-motion we encountered. And he _is_ blue.
Things took a darker turn at 7:35 - 7:51, when she demanded more red paint, despite there isn't any left, and she became desperate. Then afterwards, we all know exactly what she was referring to when she said we're 'hiding some red from her', as well as what she could have done to us afterwards.
Or she could be referring to the Red Smoke.

The 5th - 8th voicelines indicate how the toys are very sentient as humans, and they lost their minds after not only being experimented on, but also after feeling alone, helpless, lost, and suffering at the hands of the merciless people, to the point the toys become twisted and malicious. But deep inside, the toys are nothing but innocent children, crying for help.
Bobby's quivering voice when she said, "You won't leave me, will you?". She hinted that she, and probably other toys, might have suffered from Autophobia (also known as Monophobia, Isolophobia, or Eremophobia), or fear of being alone.
It just clicked with me with the hoppy hopscotch voices is that its the same time you discover the purple hand for the grabpack, the one that allows you to jump further. What if they were trying to get them to learn to use it to escape either the red smoke or something else, and sadly they couldn't do it. Or they just missed their jumps.

A lot of that could be explained that the scientist purposely pushed and encouraged the kids to bond and love their toy. Because the more they do, the more the assimilation process would work
Out of all the cut outs, Crafty Corn is the only one who sounds like she actually “kills” whoever pushed the button, then saying she got some red paint afterwards. Kinda creepy from a shy, meek cartoon horse.

Her audio tape is the only tape that plays sinister music once she realizes that a kid is being experimented on. If you listen to the audio tapes she is one of the only characters that goes through an arc as joyful new hire to becoming a counselor.
You can really feel the guilt in her audio recording and how she was probably used to make the kids comfortable with PlayCare.
It depends on is she was at the factor, which I think she was because she was head of play care. If she wasn't there, it's a solid theory. It makes the most sense.
Poppy has used he/him pronouns when referring to the protagonist tho (like when she stops Kissy Missy), and while it could be possible our protagonist is trans or masc appearing, i doubt it. Maybe it's Rich? Or a character we have yet to met entire via tapes?

So I have a theory that the smiling critter’s cutouts could hint at how each of them died after the hour of joy. The elephant might’ve been unable to get over the horrors it saw, remembering the hour of joy and eventually going insane. The chicken and bunny could’ve tried to escape Playcare, and died in the process. The pig probably got too hungry and Catnap had to kill them so they wouldn’t rampage Playcare. DogDay is the one I’m most sure about. I think he was trying to warn other toys to try and escape Playcare, and Catnap didn’t like that, leading to the state we find him in during chapter 3. The unicorn probably just went insane like the pig did, and Catnap had to kill them too. Just a theory though!
I think piggy is still alive and huggy they are the only 2 that didn't scream at the end of the cut outs... but i agree with everything else .. I do think that piggy ate elephant and unicorn too mentally damaged to fight back .. plus he straight up says he eats them

Catnap's interaction with Miss Delight makes me think that the children weren't killed by him or The Prototype. He clearly wants to protect them from the teachers and says they are safe, but not in the same place as the adults (ie: everyone dead).
Unfortunately, given Catnap's idolation of The Prototype and viewing his being turned into Catnap as being "saved"...he may have wanted the same for his young friends and thus...tiny body initiative.

I have a few theories about the fates of few of the smiling critters
Let's start with Craftycorn, we know she really needed the color red, and you might infer it's blood and it might really be blood, but she might've used it to write the letter that brought us here, it was all in red.
Then we have Bobby Bearhug, there is clear evidence that she might not be dead. Firstly, her cardboard cutout doesn't feature a scream like the rest. Secondly, she doesn't appear on the shrine of The Prototype, we also know that Catnap being the last smiling critter(which is what Ollie told us) is straight up wrong since Dogday was still alive by then, which means Dogday could also be wrong about being the last smiling critter.
😮 the letter in the beginning was written in red!! But I still think she was out for blood as well....but yes her using blood to write the letter wanting red to do so is VERY interesting

Catnaps line in the tape where he says that the Prototype will save them had such an unnerving yet also very calm feel when I heard it, and realizing that Catnap is taking the Prototype’s orders very seriously. This truly gives off Catnap’s character of how he can truly be terrifying while also making sure that he truly listens to the knew he truly trusts.

What's even more scary is that during the beginning of the game where they show that episode of smiling critters; during the static, I took the chance to brighten up the screen of both statics and all I seen were pairs of eyes. One of the static had more than one pair of eyes on them. It was so creepy.
I think Claire Harper, the care worker who took care of Marie Payne, is the person who now possesses Kissy Missy, and the picture she was holding was of Marie Payne.
The tapes are all meant to explain something about the lore. Why would we get a tape about some care worker who was SO intensely upset about what happened to a child and demanded to see her? Sure, the tape explains what the red smoke causes in the children, but her reaction is so strong, so dramatic, she must've really cared about Marie! And the way Kissy Missy is sitting on that bed, holding that picture in a heartbreaking silence, I can't help but think that it's Claire Harper remembering Marie, feeling heartbroken about what happened to her and to herself.
Also, can I just say how amazing I find it that despite Kissy Missy's enormous grin, the character designers still managed to make her look so incredibly sad and lost? Throughout this whole chapter, I felt terrible for her, she seemed miserable.

i dont think *just* because the “normal” sized toys exist, doesn’t mean they’re babies. I think it’s likely that they kept the babies until they were a bit more grown, because babies can’t really do much 🤔 so they wait until they’re more “developed”

24:40 - So, um... after seeing the hard hat on the skeleton in CatNap's monument to the Prototype, and after literally a single audio, does anyone else think the Prototype is Rich Avery? (I can't remember the others, so if any other VHS contradict this theory, feel free to lemme know. I kinda only half pay attention to any Poppy Playtime videos I watch. ^^;;)
- He has a short temper. And we know the Prototype is *aggressive* considering it orchestrated the 'Hour of Joy'. (Not that I blame it, all things considered and all the other things we likely don't know about *to* consider.)
- He cares about the kids. One of the only things we've heard from Richie is that he wanted better for the children than what they were getting in PlayCare, and if the Prototype spared the children from the Hour of Joy and even allowed CatNap to squirrel them away from Miss Delight, clearly it has a soft spot for the children too. Hell, it even tried to help Theo escape, and it cared about him so much that it even let PlayCo's dubious medics rescue him.
- He's at least a little intelligent. While it's not clarified what Stu does, he's clearly in a position that can't wait until after he's gone for a successor. That implies he's in a specialised/important position, which usually requires some degree of know-how in whatever line of work one is in. And we already know that the Prototype is comparatively more intelligent than the toys made of children.
- The other VHS tapes. Almost every other VHS has referred to a PlayCo employee, or whatever the monster of the chapter is, or it just generally has a very clear reason for why it's being presented *where* it's being presented. Yet, this one, with Rich and Stu, is probably the most random. It doesn't sound like they work directly *in* PlayCo since they aren't allowed to interact with the kids. And *where* do we find this VHS? In the caverns wherein CatNap's effigy to the Prototype resides.
- The hard hat. Richie refers to a shipment, and is one of two people transporting it. From my understanding, sometimes people in charge of moving shipments within warehouses need to wear hard hats, which makes sense considering how heavy some of the items are and how high they can be stored. (This point is DEFINITELY a reach, I'm aware.)

I feel it would make more sense if it was that calmer employee.. especially because he said something like that he was leaving soon/retirin... Which might imply he was under the influence he was going to finally get to go home after probably being there for a long time and probably might have saw something he shouldn't have.. so they decided to play it off as if he was gonna be released from work but then either the hour of joy happened, or they Force him to stay somewhere in the factory on purpose to make sure one of the violent toys would find him and it be "taken care of" that way....

I'm starting to believe more and more that Richie is the character we play as . For the evidence, Richie knew about everything that happened behind close doors. And the tape that we find in this chapter might mean he got to a high position and they informed him about what happened to the more closed off parts of them company

I agree with you because they keep bringing him up in every chapter and if Richie wasnt important they wouldn't keep mentioning him and I don't think it's a tape saying that Richie died and Richie had a family and he really cared about the children but remember one of the tapes said they thought richie would be perfect for the job even though he was known for complaining about how he didn't like what was going on with the children he still cared and poppy said we didnt anything wrong we were just an innocent employee so if thats the case we were about to be promoted but for some reason we missed the promotion party/meeting and i think this is because richie conscience got to the better of him and decided not to come to work on the day the hour of joy happened and we only came back because the "gulit" he's feeling is survivor guilt
Honestly I agree. Statistically I don’t think the main character would be a woman, although that’d be a breakthrough in storytelling. The promotion and meeting part is more likely where the dots connect, therefore the main character is Richie or he’s important at least to a certain degree.
Also, Richie always complain to everything but deep down, he cares to the orphan kids. So, maybe Richie either already got fired or got sick on HOJ moment so he's very lucky. And because he was too much talking, he decided to stay quite through the entire game.
But then again, remember the letter that on the floor after we get off the slide from Chapter 2? With the letters: J,A,H,Y,E,O,N,B,A,I,M.
None of the letters have the letter R stands for Rich or Richie.
Also, the letter is in Production so the player used to be Head of Production team and Richie looked like he was just a regular employee who just doing delivery service or things. Knowing how Mommy and Miss Delight are so pissed off to see the player while Poppy feels delightful to see the player, I could see the jealousy coming from both of them and let's assume that the player is a man because 2 female toys are so angry towards him.

Richie does seem like he could be a delivery service man, but that could also mean he had many chances to see all of the wrongdoings the company was up to. But then again, with the hour of joy, there were many deaths but no conformation of who all died. So all opinions on this matter are valid.
There are multiple disturbing things about this. The most disturbing thing is the fact that the date when the entities ended up running around killing people was preferred as the “ the hour of joy” in the case of the context with the whole killing people and child experiences chilling.
Here's my theory of who our protagonist could be. I have two potential candidates such as Stella Greyback or Richie from the VHS tape. Here's why.
For Richie, he seems to be the level headed man who had been given an opportunity to gain a higher position but we don't know if he took it. He was clearly concerned about the conditions, especially when not talking to the kids. It would make so much sense if he didn't return on the day of 'the hour of joy' because he wouldve had a family by now and had moved on but was consumed by guilt of what happened to his co-workers when he hadnt heard of them.
For Stella Greyback, she has many reasons why she wouldn't return back on 'the hour of joy'. She had been given many opportunities during the game to higher positions but when she learned of the VHS where the boy that was meant to be given away to two potential parents was up for 'testing' she would have asked about it to her superiors and might have gotten terminated.
In conclusion, Richie or Stella could be the protagonists of the story. We don't know which one it is but I hope when the final chapter comes up we will know, just a theory is all😅
The dog day one is extra special since it in a way line up with his final words showing the cutouts might be conected to the consiousnes of the main toy as he literally tells you to keep moving
😢 don't forget his description, he always looks for the bright side to cheer up his friends....he literally calls us an angel to keep us moving but has no hope for himself, still giving his dying hopes and warnings to keep us optimistic and alive something he probably did as leader to his friends before they all went crazy and got killed.

I have a theory about what's going on with the Protagonist:
At first, I thought they were a Playtime Co. higher-up and the reason for that radio broadcast was because the toys behind the slaughter were upset one of their torturers got away. Perhaps the protagonist was tipped off about the event and knew to stay away.

Instead, I think the Protagonist was an employee who became one of the victims of the Bigger Bodies Initiative. They are now a converted toy. After all, we haven't gotten a clear look at the protagonist yet. Poppy and Kissy Missy also treat the Protagonist fairly respectfully, implying they view the Protagonist as another victim who deserves kindness. Perhaps the Protagonist is an escapee like in that clip of Huggy Wuggy escaping, but unlike Huggy, the Protagonist was never recaptured. Perhaps the voice on the radio is angry because they wanted ALL toys involved in the Hour of Joy but the Protagonist had bolted, leaving/abandoning the other victims. Maybe the "coworkers" the Protagonist is worried about are other converted toys and they went to see if they needed help.
How would a converted toy survive outside all of the years without being found out by passerbyers? Easy, they're a humanoid doll like Miss Delightful, able to pass as human well enough. Miss Delightful DOES clearly have human anatomy as shown with her character model. Whose to say there weren't more like her and her sisters? Maybe Miss Delightful was introduced purely to tell the audience that humanoid toys exist here.

I don’t fully subscribe to this theory, but I love the idea of a bigger body toy escaping and not being recaptured, and therefore the prototype being angry that they weren’t there during the massacre.
I don't fully buy this theory but,i always wondered is the player not taking fall damage just A gameplay thing or is there A Lore reason because we seems to survive many fall that A normal human shouldnt

One small detail I've noticed is that CatNap poses with his arms open in the cartoon. Right before the other critters fall unconscious. Similar to when he’s worshipping the shrine or when The Prototype comes for him. Thought that was really cool. :)
All 5 Critters lines sounded so sad. Dogday who we just meet dies telling you to run away only for the cut out to tell you to leave as well. Then we have Bobby who was afraid you were going to abandon her again asked the player to take her with you. Then Hoppe's desperation to hop to jump and get out danger only to her getting caught and killed by someone. Then Kickin Chicken trying to be brave as he can despite being scared only to die by trying to lead the way out. Then Bubba was going to tell you what he remembers about you only to get screams of pain in the end was also sad because either the MC did something really terrible or Bubba was going to say too much and got Axed just for potentially spoiling a secret. These were probably the bigger bodies talking because I don't see the smaller ones giving you this audio. Catnap just sound pissed that you woke him up. And Craftycorn and Picky...um....I'm not gracing it with a description...
The fact that the PickyPiggy cutout had no scream at the end, could imply that he is still alive

Piggy and Crafticorn became unhinged muderous henchman for Catnap
Kickin and Hoppy seemed to have tried to escape the facility or lead others to safety and were killed for it.
Bobby, being a lover not a fighter, was neglected into depression. probably silently starved to death and was just eaten.
Bubba and DogDay were "heretics". killed and eaten bit by bit. DogDay the 'leader' was strung up as an example and tortured to death (note his chained up pose was identical to his sleeping pose in the cartoon)
Piggy was probably the last to die before Dog ay, as she survived long enough to eat the others.

I feel like one of the main points are whether Ollie is a toy of some kind or actually Prototype mimicking the voice, because his voice and character seems too childish and too innocent even for the story’s atmosphere. Also him being a bright, cheery new character is sus as hell. (So the developers would hint to us simply through his character’s traits.) Ollie and prototype has to hold a bigger secret than other toys- if Ollie is sinister and he managed to trick poppy as well, it leads to a big door for evil/ ulterior motives. Also Elliot Ludwig knew what was going on, no doubt. He’s too much of an entrepreneur to quietly pass, so the possibilities are either he’s just dead regardless OR he transformed himself into one of the characters, most likely the prototype since it’s the main boss of the series for now. Just my current guess tho.
Its ironic that the one human that seems the most concerned about the children and their needs is the one thats the angriest that we hear. He understands he needs to be calmer however his concerns are right. Clearly he cares about orhers safety though theres a clear reason why the kids cant leave: besides the fact that they are the test subjects, if any of them who saw too much or living toys snuck around with the children, they could escape and be a danger to others. Such as huggy escaping.
When I discovered the room with Kissy Missy looking at the photo I truly felt awful for everything that has happened. Even though the toys killed many people, you still gotta feel awful for them on remembering that they were once children before they were experimented on and became these monstrosities that were forced to never leave the factory.
True. Like, even if they decide to leave the factory, where else will they go? Apart from having no family at all outside the confinement of the factory, they may have to constantly live in hiding from the public eyes lest they will cause a nation wide panic and a witch hunt coming for them. Oh, and the less we say about their hunger, the better.

To me his final boss battle kinda kills almost all of the hype he builds up, I know it's kinda done already with both chapter 1,2 and dog day but an elaborate chase would have actually been better than "kinda fnaf but shttier and without a camera".
13:46 Theo wasn't trying to escape FROM the prototype, he was trying to escape WITH the prototype. If you follow the ARG and in game notes, it very soundly leads to the conclusion that Theo's imaginary friend was the prototype and Theo tries to escape with it. In a failed attempt, the currents from the door(s) shocked his heart into stopping. The prototype could've escaped, but it instead chose to take Theo to get medical attention by dropping him off outside an office door.
Theo was made aware that the prototype saved him, and now he worships the prototype
That good bye Sam tape reminds me so much of the promised neverland. They think he’s going to a lovely home when he’s just getting taken away to get experimented on and turned into a giant toy
Theory: Ollie is the prototype and we can assume this because he could be impersonating a child or a toy like the Mimic from FNAF and how else could he use access the technology and know where the player is when the Prototype controls the technology. Also, Ollie tells us to avoid the Playhouse for an unknown reason and DogDay is about to tell the player something about you can stop this, the torment, the… and is then conveniently killed.

Wow so in retrospect,Huggy getting you a key in chapter 1 was him being genuinely helpful as the chase scene later in the chapter would be down to the prototype influencing him for a second time, Essentially the prototype forcing the player to kill bigger bodies toys in order to improve himself ahead of another escape attempt possibly in chapter 4.
Oh that's so sad... it depends on the details of the prototype's control, but it would fit.
What's stopping him from leaving? Serious question why none of the toys left when the food started to run low.

I wanna point out an observation I didn’t see, but Picky Piggy seems to have eaten her friends. Fried chicken is kickinchicken, flayed unicorn is crafty corn, and seared elephant is bubba bubaphant.
Bonus: a sign in the first nightmare sequence says “clap and a half we’ll miss you” most likely referencing Matpats eventual departure from game theory. Others pointed out he also has a kid named Ollie

Out of all the smiling critters, I'd say the bear, the dog, and the chicken were the ones that got to me. I don't think i heard the bear's cutout on here. It was probably the sadest of the bunch.

Second theory I had, I don't think any of the bigger body initiative people are really dead. The fact that Poppy still keeps saying we, in collective form, and Ollie too, it's been bugging me for a while. If everyone was dead dead then I don't think they would be talking in terms that everyone is still there and alive.

None of them are dead, theyre not souls in those toys, their bones organs flesh and blood get put into them, theyre still living organisms. Kinda like that body horror movie about the guy who they break his bones and reconfigure him into a walrus. There must be a stash somewhere the prototype cant reach of the still living children/now adults and toys. My guess? they had to feed those kids somehow, they probably werent paying for heaps of food, their facility is so big they must have a garden area.
@@aubrianonymous9570 I dont think the bigger bodies need food though, cuz the ones that are alive have been in their areas for a long time without food, Poppy was in a glass case since the hour of joy. Its so confusing. The prototype also talked in multiple voices, and Mommy Longlegs was so afraid of being part of him, which seems that it can only happen after they have "died." So i feel their conciousness somehow stays, or stays with the prototype. How else would he control them if they didnt have some sort of connection to carry out the hour of joy.

I mean even for the most tortured souls there they still probably feared death, and that their body would then be in the amalgamation, you don’t have to be alive for that ending to be horrific.
and also poppy playtime co's goal was to make immortal toys so maybe they succeeded doing it, even after catnap was being violently electrocuted, burning etc.. he was still alive and when we found the doggy (mb i dont remember his name) only half of his body remained yet he could still talk and even moved his head. so yea i think you're right
2:53 I actually believe that since this is occurring during the events of inhaling the red smoke, that this is instead the player’s guilt talking about them (you weren’t there on that day when everyone needed you, you left them all 10 years ago, you have no right to come back and attempt to break down this world that you clearly don’t have control over anymore), this can also be backed up by how afterwards when watching the tape it directly talks about the player and coming back years later full of guilt into a world that monsters own now before the nightmare huggy spawns in and crawls down the hall like it did in the vent chase in chapter 1. We also know that red smoke is used to put people (and in turn, the player) to sleep but unintentionally giving them nightmares, so it makes sense that the player, full of guilt of leaving their coworkers on the day of the hour of joy, is having some voice talk down to them both in tapes/radios in a nightmare fueled by their guilt only to add onto it by reviving the horrors they (and possibly their coworkers) faced of Huggy in chapter 1 of the vent chase with the nightmare worsening with the concept of the player this time failing to escape. The game then shows that ever since you inhaled the red smoke that everything since has just been a dream so it wouldn’t make sense that the prototype would be talking to the player when it’s a nightmare the player is currently having full of the guilt they have from being absent from that day for 10 years (something that tape backs up by directly referring to the player returning years later feeling bad about what they’ve done).
Idk, these are my thoughts on what I interpret the messages to mean, it’s all interesting to think about tbh
