Shows how important the mental side of sport is. You can have all the talent in the world, like Holman, but if you mentally can't keep it together then it all falls to pieces

I met Steve Holman many years ago on a long run I was doing. We chatted a bit. He seemed like a very nice guy. I don't think he ever performed up to his potential though. He could have been AMAZING!

Jason Pyrah what's the neighbor of mine when our kids were growing up they were the same ages and I love talking to him about the Olympics and being kind of a track and field geek. He's an amazing amazing person senior athletic trainer in the area and there's a lot of track and field events as a starter or meets I should say

Holman was not a basket case at all. He was super nice and very smart. I really felt bad for him back then and people were so unfair.

It was unfortunate for Steve; however, I recall very clearly that he had some superstitious beliefs about American milers not living up to the hype. It was in his head!

Ran with Brian Hyde in High School. Too bad injuries ended his career.

Its 2022, I'm puzzled as to why when all things considered why as the US performed so weakly at the world championship level. Yes WEAK
