    Even for the two of us, batch cooking and some meal prep (and we NEVER eat the same thing 2 days in a row, ever) is essential for us. It gives me so many options, it's quicker for meal prep, and there's less stress on those days when I've been out all day for instance. I find that by prepping and properly storing (usually in airtight containers) all my vegetables & fruits as soon as I bring them home, they last MUCH longer. The plus is that my vegetables are always ready. Things like cucumbers, peppers, zucchini, eggplant, tomato, remain whole after washing because they won't keep long if cut.

    I prep my base mix for bolognaise, chilli , soups, and stuff. Diced carrots,celery and onions. So glad that I do that, I have 6 bags in the freezer. This week I had a fall and fractured my hand. I can still cook my meals thanks to prepping 😅

    Regarding the lasagna, I always just make the lasagna and then after it cooks and cools, I freeze it. It works just fine. I've never thought of the other. I do use the no bake noodles and that doesnt make a difference.

      Yes! You can absolutely freeze after cooking. I work in our local hospital's kitchen and we cook, portion and freeze our lasagna, and then add the cheese when we reheat to serve (I know, hospital food 🙄 lol but all of our patients rave about ours, honestly!) So yes, I do the same with veggie lasagna at home, and then just add the vegan cheese or vegan parm or whatever, after thawing and before reheating in the oven! Totally works 😊

    oh hahaha "like a drunk uncle", I loved that comment about the baby led weaning. We did the same with our kid, and she ate everything till she was three and then we went into the beige phase lol, also she doesn't like anything pudding textured, because she wasn't fed mushy foods as baby😄 Thanks for this interview Jeremy and good luck with baby Maddie, try to enjoy every moment because they are little for such a short time!♥

    My daughter and son-in-law did baby led weaning with my grandson. He did figure it out....his other grandparents kind of freaked out at first, but he did well. He had to adjust to texture but never choked. He gaged a few times as expected but they just offered him what they were eating, less seasoned at first and gradually fed him exactly what they were eating. He overall isn't picky and still eats what they do. Any pickiness is just related to age-might eat something one day but not want it the next :)

    I’ve used oven ready, lasagna noodles before, layers of veggie cheese, or just tofu ricotta, sauce, and then layers of veggies, like mushrooms, completely uncooked. Just layer it all up, cover it tightly with plastic wrap and tinfoil, label it, and pop it in the freezer. I usually pull them out the day before though, otherwise they take forever to bake.

    I hated making pancakes but since I now have a long griddle for the stove it is great. I also use an electric Cuisinart Griddle Panini machine. You can lay the top down flat so you have two surfaces to cook on. I have a cheaper brand of those in our motorhome and no longer hate making pancakes.
    For lasagna, I use flat freezer containers and store some of the leftovers for later. (Now I want to go make lasagna)
    I enjoy have items in the freezer. When we go up north for a weekend, which we do often, I have food cooked and don't have to worry about cooking in a tiny kitchen and having to take a whole bunch of ingredients along.

    I would never worry about a kid's palate unless they become medically underweight. My daughter got picky at age 3 when my mom started watching her while I worked and my mom only fed her junk. So when I got her home, I would always give her the choice of sharing my dinner or having a peanut butter sandwich with broccoli slaw (she was a weirdo and thought broccoli slaw was junk food). She usually chose the latter, but sometimes chose the former, and eventually ate everything, and we never had a fight about it

    They have to have teeth to give them soft food that in chunks. You can’t give them that till they’re older. Also, a friend of mine father let her eat hot sauce right out of the packet and it burnt her sinuses because she has no sense of smell anymore and hasn’t since she was a little girl. Somehow she damaged her sinuses. So you do have to be careful.

    • @pbwithjeremy
      @pbwithjeremy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes - I wouldn't give a kid hot sauce. He was just having mild salsa. If they don't have teeth they'll gum the food. Either way they need to experiment. Babie's gag reflexes are strong - the trick is to put it on their plate and let them self feed if you're doing that - far different than spooning it in. They're pretty intuitive. That was our experience anyway.

      You have to remember to freeze any leftover canned tomato paste, because it spoils quickly if kept refrigerated, which is probably why the tube tomato paste is popular (as it keeps a very long time under refrigeration).
