02:00 Almost all of the profits of the secondary cable channels come from cable carriage fees and sharing in the blue chip advertising buys from the primary cable networks, so that’s why they’ve stayed on as long as they have.
Instead of the name SpinCo (how original!), they should've named it "Living Color, Incorporated", after NBCUniversal, who spun their cable channels off into their own company.
Isn't WBD doing the EXACT same thing?? But this if there actually were spin-offs of the networks themselves, the Sprout name should be brought back as a preschool brand for Universal Kids. For secondary cable networks, we're lucky there are alternatives for some of them (e.g. for Boomerang, MeTV Toons, but the channel is only on Verizon Fios and Charter Spectrum, screw the latter for the Disney dispute), but cable TV has been getting less relevant especially during this decade. As for DirecTV and Dish's failed merger, it's just not necessary for DirecTV to get their hands on Dish, but because of the failed merger and Dish possibly going bankrupt, what's going to be the future for it's satellite television presence and Sling TV?

it’s because of the WWE’s TV rights deal. With RAW moving to Netflix, the cable industry as we all know is dying and people just aren’t paying that much money to buy DirectTV or Dish’s Premium package because it’s too expensive.

Comcast suppose to bump fox news to the sports tier in 2025, which I'm OK with that that been a waist of space, get my news from a local TV station. In 2025, I see CNN, MSNBC, newsmax, tlc , my networks TV, and possibly cw going dark, fox news being sued out of existence, and MTV shutting down totally.
4:26-4:31 : My answer, Yes, if people keep on boycotting the Mainstream ABC news then Disney would split up their cable channel company while keeping a few others. As for WBD due to mismanagement they are splitting up into 2 divisions, The tv channels area (Turner 2.0) and film and television production areas (WBD).
Could they be doing this in preparation for a possible merger with Warner Bros Discovery? they probably want to shed the assets that could prevent it from merging with them.
I would imagine whoever owns it would remove "MS" from the branding as well due to Microsoft not being involved in this channel for nearly a decade now.
Ya know what else NBCUniversal has done sir? Having Comcast use them (through a stupid acquisition) to buy out SPROUT! This was back in 2013, before transforming into its current channel, Universal Kids, back in 2017. Yes, that iconic kids channel (which is actually SO underrated) which was once owned by PBS, alongside Sesame Workshop, Comcast and HIT Entertainment! And originally featured a whole bunch of shows from the PBS Kids library. Plus those iconic blocks like The Sunny Side Up Show and The Goodnight Show! Universal Kids is doing SO POORLY in ratings when compared to Sprout. I do not care that business is business, since Sprout was part of my entire childhood! And I miss it so much!! I will most likely never see Noddy, Thomas the Train, The Pajaminals, Chloe's Closet, The Chica Show, Kipper, LazyTown and Poppy Cat ever again on TV!! :(
And another thing, something weird happened with MeTV toons, for one it had a Barney error Which means MeTV toons had a error of airing Barney and friends Right after Beetlejuice And it wasn't even one episode it was like five airing And all just repeats of the episode rabbits ducks and fish spammed over and over again, thank goodness I can't find anything on the web about it But that would have been stupid but hilarious, for second, The Caillou Christmas movie and sonic Christmas blast are coming to MeTV toons this year, get ready for MeTV toons to lose followers after all this crap.
SpinCo more like DrainCo, why bother spinoff all your channels then just have them dead or better why not bring some older channels like Sprout or G4TV for example.
I know we love the cable channels and talking about them here but this was a bold move for Universal because at large cable is pretty fucking dead. Probably a smart move for them because Comcast's game in the TV world is probably the worst as far as cable and streaming goes out of the main 4 studios (Disney, Warner, Paramount, Universal). NBC always does well for them but everything else is nothing. Everyone in the business world says Donna Langley is smart for doing this and I actually agree. She knows the TV side is dead weight for Comcast/NBCUniversal's brand and is fixing it as fast as possible. You will probably see Paramount, Warner and Disney do the same in a couple years time. Also MSNBC was a shitshow, and I'm sure they are glad to be rid of it. Got them into a lot of controversy and unnecessary media exposure for weird election crap. The bigger question is, who even wants them? The only loss I personally see here is that Resident Alien is orphaned now, which is the only show show I cared about on any of their networks and pretty much the only scripted show of any worth on them.
SpinCo, lmao they got lazy with names
This is just a preliminary name they use for references purposes while they attempt to name the company.

USA Networks would be better
Also SpinCo is a temporary name
This made me worried. What will be the future for NBCUniversal.
MSNBC used to be a tech news channel partly owned by Microsoft.
Now it fell off
It fell off after they cancelled Lockup RAW and To Catch A Predator with Chris Hanson.
Well obviously! What did you think the "MS" in "MSNBC" stood for?
@Connie_TinuityError I know.
Im shocked they didnt keep CNBC with nbcuniversal
So, what’s going to happen to USA Network, SYFY, Bravo, Oxygen, and other networks now that NBCU/Comcast that are spinning off these channels?

This was probably the only reason it happened lmao, what's the point of keeping cable channels if you have no live sports/events? Zero.
it’s because of the WWE’s TV rights deal. With RAW moving to Netflix, the cable industry as we all know is dying and people just aren’t paying that much money to buy DirectTV or Dish’s Premium package because it’s too expensive.
