If Adult Swim was 24 hours, I can certainly see their schedule as FXX during the day and Adult Swim during the evening and night. They really love Fox shows. Also, I can totally see CN having a Boomerang block again during school time or weekend mornings, leaving the rest of the day showing CN originals.
Indeed, One Piece is being broadcast on Comedy Central in Spain, taking advantage of the country's syndication system, which has made it quite popular there. This contrasts with the situation in America where cable TV is experiencing a significant decline. It's logical to consider cutting the cord when networks like CN repeatedly air the same shows, unlike in other countries where a variety of programs are shown without constant repetition.
@@blingmememaster They air some CN originals like Samurai Jack, but it's mostly anime like Hunter X Hunter, and some anime produced by Warner Bros, like Mob Psycho 100, Food Wars! and Suicide Squad Isekai.
In the UK Adult Swim has never been on Cartoon Network. AS shows are currently licensed to Channel 4 and while they do good with putting those shows on demand, they put them on E4 late at night so it seems like there linear broadcasts are an afterthought. I think a 24 hour Adult Swim could work and should air classic CN shows during the day similar to the Checkered Past block.
I pretty much agree too, despite living in a world in which parents are insisted to up their ante a bit after seeing news stories about that particular block coming under fire by an organization everyone loves to hate that happens to be the Parents Television Council, regardless of how much time and energy the parents themselves have wasted out in the workforce in order to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. I'm just glad my mom finally retired so that both of us can finally spend more quality time together, because before then I was strongly urged to agree with her when it came to being very hell-bent on preventing the entire family from getting evicted.
Well, in Brazilian Adult Swim, I really love the whole channel, Cartoons don't take hours and hours in terms of schedule. Actually, the original [as] shows airs only at Night
I thought the Mexican and Brazilian feeds of [as] Latin America can get away with airing stuff like Rick and Morty, Harley Quinn, Smiling Friends, and Royal Crackers during the day?
We litteraly have one where i live (Canada). And Adultswim doesn't exist as a bloc in CN. Probably for licence and other stuff. But we didn't have cn until 2023 anyway and our French cn has his own adult swim.
I got some good news and some bad news the good news is that by January chekered past will get it's fridays slots back but the bad news is that by the end of the month chekered past will lose an hour and toonami rewind will be gone in favor of more king of the hill
Probably not going to happen, but the most likely way a 24/7 Adult Swim would happen is it overtakes all of Cartoon Network then Cartoon Network overtakes Boomerang or Discovery Family Channel.
I'm okay with it being a block on Cartoon Network. But in the unlikely situation it does, I wouldn't be against it either. Maybe Cartoon Network stays it too, becomes 24/7 as well and has old shows not on Checkered Past to fill the old Adult Swim hours. And Adult Swim takes TruTV's old space since its dying possibly. Since TBS still seems to be going strong. But again, I'm happy to have it as a block it and Cartoon Network go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly.
Looking how their schedule is mostly just FOX shows, Rick and Morty, Smiling Friends, and MAYBE an Aqua Teen, I'm surprised they manage to keep it going even 12. Commenter in the thumbnail is right, if they were to ever go 24 hours, the time would have been around 2006. They had a TON of shows that were either brand new or getting new episodes. (12 oz. Mouse, ATHF, Frisky Dingo, TGTTM, The Boondocks, Venture Bros, Perfect Hair Forever, Metalocalypse, Squidbillies.) 2007 also had new shows as well like Lucy, Daughter of the Devil, Xavier Renegade Angel, and Superjail, Awesome Show, as well as the night of 1,000 pilots. The mid-to-late 2000's was the peak of their experimentation phase, and we don't teally have too many shows that are still currently airing, unless you want to count the new Toonami shows, but that's not even on the main network. I would have loved to see it become its own network. Cartoon Network was also at its peek back then, so you would have gotten the best from both networks. Unfortunately, that ship sailed long ago, and while there have been good shows on both networks in the past decade, it's not really the same anymore.
That's a smart idea, they could fill the morning hours with classic cartoons. Not out of the equation, as Adult Swim used to air Popeye, Looney Tunes, ect in the mid 2000's.
If that actually happened. I hope they leave behind checkered past , acme night , toonami, and toonami rewind and have CN own the blocks. Oh yeah and btw checkered past’s timeframe is now haved unfortunately. :(
The Adult Swim app is still doing well so that’s probably where the shows will go sooner or later is my guess. I’d love to see a 24 hour channel, but considering Nickelodeon never did it for their The ‘90s Are All That lineup, and that was supposedly being considered at one point, I agree with you Artie that we will probably never see a 24 hour Adult Swim channel. Plus, with all the cord cutting going on, it doesn’t make much sense seeing as how cable is falling off more and more. Also, there were rumors of a separate Kids’ WB! channel but they were just rumors. So if that didn’t happen, a 24 hour Adult Swim channel is less likely as well I guess. Sad because at one point, Kids’ WB! was a Megahit and I could’ve seen it getting its own network. How long would it have lasted? Depends on what the content would’ve been. I guess maybe not too long but never say never when it comes to stuff like that. I mean, as a channel, and Warner Bros did consider it a separate channel from The WB since they both aired equal amount of time when it came to the nationally aired stuff. By that, I mean non syndicated shows and actual shows for each lineup. At one point, Kids’ WB! and The WB each aired pretty much close to the same amount of time during the day and night on weekdays and weekends by the end of the time the cartoons were on afternoons. So, just like with CN and AS, they considered them unofficially separate networks. I think Toonami Rewind replaced Checkered Past on Fridays if I remember right? So Checkered Past may not be doing as well as the WBD heads were hoping it would. Good content as always man and ty again for the content. Keep this great stuff coming please. Btw, The Oblongs is one of my favorite animated series of all time so when I saw you included it in the thumbnail for the video about why Adult Swim should get its own channel that made me happy. So underrated.
This is why its unlikely because adult swim is taking SO MUCH of CN's time and its getting unfair for the children who gets to see 11 hours of programming while adult gets more than 11 hours. But if that happens, then this would be a disaster for the network of cartoons, also i wish CN and WBD could make a agreement for the dying CW network and Nextstar for a block that could replace the horrible litton programming as CN on The CW (cool huh.)
I doubt Adult Swim will become a 24/7 channel in the US because it's meant to be a nighttime block, which is why they air obscure and strange programs late at night. I'm guessing if Adult Swim does air as a 24/7 channel, FOX shows would air in the morning before going into some of their Adult Swim shows in the early afternoon and evening, mainly because it wouldn't make sense too air obscure programs in the mornings, and FOX shows would give them more views. If Cartoon Network goes back to being 24 hours, I could see a lot more movies and TTG reruns airing throughout the day, just like they did back in the day. CN would air many movies throughout the day, but because they only air for 11 hours now, if they do decide to air a movie, it would be either 1 or 2 at the most.
On paper, a 24/7 adult swim channel could work especially with the success of FXX and Comedy Central (back then). But to be honest, carriage deals, cable dying as a whole, spamming FOX shows, finding out how to even get through the amount of steps for an adult swim 24/7 channel is a lengthy process. And let's be real, it's 2024, cable is not the primary source for television anymore other than sports and news. I would be incredibly mad if the network I have watched for over 13 years (Cartoon Network) is completely gone. Adult Swim is great, but without Cartoon Network, Adult Swim would have never existed, Toonami would have veneer existed, this video right here would have never existed. By the way since we are on the topic of adult swim, you should do a tier list for all the adult swim originals.
We did get a little taste of what a stand alone adult swim channel could be with tbs in the 2010’s and it felt like it had no clear direction on what it wanted to be I remember the days tbs actually ran 5 minutes longer than other channels it was still the same length of time for a show but being it started 5 minutes later it ended 5 minutes later making it harder to watch a show on tbs then on another channel cause of missing the first 5 minutes and a 24 hour adult swim channel would need so much content it would run into a rerun problem where a majority of the schedule would probably be reruns
