Big fan of the Compound. Thanks for the great channel! ♥ I couldn't sit through this guest, though. Glad to see many other commenters felt the same way.

Ric has a point thou. Given the expected population decline in most developed countries, in some cases rapid decline of the working age workforce, there might actually not be any other way forward than to have technology that picks up the slack and does the work of ten workers. I think that would also include keeping us alive for longer and extending our productive years past 60 like it is today.
@@bigworm3886 Steve, when I was listening to Ric talk about how advances in medical technologies will prolong life, my first thought was, "sure, but will it be affordable?" New technologies, like gene therapy, are expensive. Will insurance and medicare cover it? How many people will actually benefit? I don't have answers, just questions.
As a long time OG fan this was a painful episode. Ric sounds like every other crypto shill out there with all the usual soundbites. Even when you push back on a claim his response is to invite you to a webinar. The only difference between this guy and every other tin foil hat wearing crypto bro is he has grey hair and isn't wearing a Supreme hoodie, which arguably makes him even more dangerous.
Yay! I was so pleasantly surprised to see Ben on the show. The guest sounded like my Uber driver who was trying to pump their shitcoin. Felt like it was Cathie wood wearing a mask and speaking in a man’s voice 😂
At first I was angry hearing all the stuff Ric was spewing, but honestly, by the end of the episode I felt kinda bad for the dude. AND If you want to find out the 10 reasons for why I felt bad for Ric you'll need to buy my book and attend my conference !!
Things I learned this episode: 1. Those of us who survive the T2 style robot takeover will live to be 150. 2. Bitcoin will be at $125k in 2 years but you have to attend a 1 credit workshop to figure out a single use case. 3. Ben is jacked 💪
61 year old dude here. Had a great career in IT while doing a real estate side hustle since I was in my mid 20s. I'm probably very different from most of the subscribers to The Compound as I had the attitude of " I want to buy an old house and renovate it and don't want to invest in the stock market". Now that I've retired from IT and real estate prices are way to frothy for me, I'm training myself on the financial markets and came across The Compound. You guys are making the educational process very entertaining for me. My takeaway from this session - GOLF.
First episode of TCAF I could not make it past 15 minutes. The argument for Bitcoin is pure FOMO. "What if, what if, what if" Assets are worth the present value of their cash flows. We have not hiked rates enough. Please Jay Powell, destroy all of this bullshit.
An idea for the show: whilst the market seems stuck, get a someone really bearish (Dan Nathan) and someone bullish (JC) to discuss their current view. (p.s. I love getting diverse opinions on the show, but I'm not sure this guest is the one)
Wow, Ric’s delivery just oozes overconfident confirmation bias. Clearly he’s an experienced broadcaster as he appears to make concessions that are in fact evasions. I love the compound but on this occasion I can’t finish this episode. No knock on the show - can’t please everyone all the time but this guy is too much of a crypto hype bro.
Enjoy most shows but this one was very disappointing compared to the usual guest. The intro and the way Josh said he was such an inspiration, and then listening to what he had to say was very strange. I do own bitcoin, but man this guy gives of so many red flags with the way he acts like he has everything figured out, "guarantees" bitcoin future prices, etc. Just seems like the complete opposite of what Josh believes in for advisors in the industry.
I listened to the first 5 minutes on Apple Podcasts and wasn’t feeling this one but came to TH-cam to see what the comments were like. Seems ppl who watched the whole thing agreed. Anyways love the show excited for What Are Your Thoughts on Tuesday & Animal Spirits
We just met Cathie wood's financial advisor. Congrats guys, you're officialy a cnbc spinoff. Pretty smart though, it will bring you a brand new audience: all the cryptobros
This channel is one of the best on TH-cam. Every guest you guys have had on have either been super knowledgeable, funny or both. The Compound and Friends is my go to TH-cam channel every Friday. Keep up the great work guys, this is one of the best interview channels that exist on this platform.
YES RIC! LONGEVITY IS SUCH A MASSIVE CHANGE that we haven't yet realized as a species. And it speaks to almost all of the issues we have as humans these days. All social tensions, resource limits, etc... Are a consequence of this
The Compound-My new favorite podcast! Josh, you mentioned a couple of weeks ago that your a history buff. If you loved Paris, check out The Greater Journey (Americans in Paris) by David McCullough. It an inspiring true story of adventurous Americans-young artists, professionals, businessmen, who travelled to Paris between 1830-1900 eager for knowledge and talent that couldn’t be found in America at that time. I loved it.
Big Yikes boys, having a crypto shill on was a pretty hard watch. The way this guy acted was Loud = Knowledgeable, all of his source material was "trust me bro," and seriously? The best he could do when pressed for use cases was "you need to listen to my seminar!" The only thing missing was a diatribe about bitcoin being a swarm of cyber hornets serving the god of wisdom.
Thank goodness I wasn't alone in finding this episode unwatchable. I tuned out on the BTC predictions and then bailed about halfway through. I don't think I've ever done this on any previous TCAF episode. Ben was great to have on though.
I used to listen to Ric Edelman a decade ago on my commute to work. It's good to hear his voice again and to see we're on the same page with a lot of the changes to investments and the world today
His argument for getting into bitcoin sounds like another tired version of FOMO. Few use cases, lots of hype, and heavy regulatory concerns. Maybe it won't end badly.
Interesting. Ric Edelman not only doesn't understand the difference between average age and average age of death, but he didn't even realize he was wrong when Josh clearly questioned him on it 😂 How self-deluded must you be to think Ben Franklin was 2-3x older than everyone else around him 🤣
James Monroe, 18 Aaron Burr, 20 Alexander Hamilton, 21 James Madison, 25 Thomas Jefferson, 33 John Adams, 40 Paul Revere, 41 George Washington, 44 average age, 34 Ben Franklin, 70 HOWEVER, he said the average COLONIST was 23. Which makes Franklin more than 3x older than everyone around him.
Had me tuned out right at the start when he talked about some crypto education shit - you can already learn everything you need to for free online so what is even the point of that aside from trying to increase his own importance and basically attempt to be an intermediary for connections.
"A 20% allocation to crypto is not insane." from Michael's prompt, "Without being irresponsible." This fraud of an episode is not going to age well, unless of course you believe that you'll be healthier at 95 than 55.
The same is true for python libraries. That date is the last date chatgpt received training data all up, not just finance. It causes problems for coding as well since libraries are outdated.
Interesting take on longevity, portfolio balances and the future of advising. I don't use an advisor because I want more control and the ability to be more nimble. I don't want to fire an advisor because they couldn't get me an average annual return of 10% or > like I've been able to do for the last 12 years. (That said if I changed my strategy I would likely give Josh and his team a shot. :) Ben's take on the future is interesting...but that's not where most of the money is being made right now and many people who bought those companies high multiples in the last 2 years are getting crushed. All comes down to risk/reward and time horizon....which according to Ben should be at least 120 years...LOL...I wonder how Viagra works at that age!
Ric's go to is his bold "niche" calls, his signature move on every point. We get it, Ric - you can see around corners and we don't deserve you. The schtick reminds me of the character Harold Hill in "The Music Man." By the way, $QQQM has outperformed $XT and with a third of the expense ratio.
Can someone explain to Josh that the limit on financial data until 2021 for ChatGPT is not some deliberate conspiracy, it is simply the fact that the model was trained on internet data until that period. Not because they’re scared to be wrong, they just had to pick a cutoff point (for ChatGPT specifically). Bing (which uses the exact same models but doesn’t have the data limitations) can access recent data.
Looks like Ric, after selling his firm for gazillions, can't just sit around and is off to the next big thing. Sadly, he picked crypto lol. And he is not giving up on it so ya all know...oh, taking a little bit of time to sell the digital council to educate us all smh. Also, so ya all know, he is not like Cathie, he is only predicting bitcoin to be only $150,000 wtf! Some of the stats of how many of us advisors and clients of ours own it should have been challenged directly. Actually, no push back at all...Josh tried a little bit, Ben kept silent and probably raged inside and Michael is just too nice to be direct...Anyway, this is dangerous stuff folks, be careful out there! And, longevity, wow...ooook.

The only episode where Micheal had my blessing to cut the guest off. Yet he was so quiet. 😂

Thanks Charlie!
It was a good run. Kind of a reset.

I love hearing from people that are out there but most of his predictions have the same source as the pictures of flying cars from the 1950's
Ben saved this one, wouldn't have been able to watch most of it otherwise.
At one point in the show I was getting major Cathy Wood/Arkk vibes...whew

Good to see Ben on the show. All I’ve done with crypto is pay fees, lose money and make others rich. Crypto is fairly useless today, I’m with Jamie.
