Thank you for such a nice observant comment. Music is so important in creating the feel of a film. It can make or break it for sure and I spend hours pondering over the tracks. Hopefully, my taste is just right.

I plan on capturing your photographic secrets and then publishing a series of how-to books under my own name. This will make me rich enough, I hope, to buy a Pentax rig like yours. (But seriously, I was referring to the painterly quality of today's shots. I must remember to forget my own tripod now and again.)
@@speterlewis Seriously, it did throw me for a minute! I did work it out in the end and very it is flattering too! I am working harder to release my creative side these days and trying to leave conformity / safety to one side (call it what you like). The lessons that I learned in my early years as a photographer have served me well but they could hold me back if i'm not careful. The images that fall into my "creative vision" category give me so much more satisfaction and need to be pursued more often.
Echoing what others have said, only you could turn the pesky dandelion into a thing of beauty. Just wish I could get out the country lanes out of the city. All in good time. Thanks for sharing Simon.
Wey hey. I remember photographing flowers down a local park in my 20s when a group of similar age lads walked past with their girlfriends. I felt such Nancy at the time but at least now in my 50's it's not quite as embarrassing.

There are so many plants that look similar to the eye but have subtle differences. You just need to know what to look for to separate them. Thirty years in the field has come in handy!

Awesome images, Simon! I think a lot of us are fooling around with macro lately. Mine sure don't turn out as well as yours!! Practice makes perfect. I need to work at it more. Lovely images and very nicely paced Simon. I always struggle with my delivery because the youtube "gurus" harp about how little patience viewers have and how the cuts need to be fast. Personally, I thought the relaxed approach was a joy to watch. I'm originally from Aylesbury but now live in New Zealand. Also got a photography channel and hope to take my videos more into the NZ environment going forward. Thanks for the vid. I'll go watch some more now 😀👍

Hi Simon great little video thanks , very nice smooth Depth of field you got . I am finding it hard to keep the DOF and opening to the likes of F16 to try and get my subject in focus . I using the Canon 100 F2.8 L Marco, I thought I may be trying to get too close ? or maybe a better Macro lens ? thanks
Focus stacking at f8 is the answer or make sure your subject is not surrounded by distractions in the fist place. My medium format 120mm macro has a very effective bokeh, but my earlier images were all taken with the same lens you have.
Brilliant Simon, this is my type of photography, I love botanical photography (I am a Horticulturist) so I guess I like to combine both my passions, It's only the six months that I ventured into landscape stuff, but I am way more comfortable shooting Gardens, Plants and flowers. Thanks for sharing. My favourite was the Myosotis.

Brilliant Simon, this is my type of photography, I love botanical photography (I am a Horticulturist) so I guess I like to combine both my passions, It's only the six months that I ventured into landscape stuff, but I am way more comfortable shooting Gardens, Plants and flowers. Thanks for sharing. My favourite was the Myosotis.
Plants generally offer us so much scope and have long been a favourite of mine. I was a nature photographer long before I pursued landscapes.
It seems the background selection and treatment are just as important as the subject in these photos. 3/3 winners.
Absolutely Ralph. Every element of a picture needs to have a purpose, other wise it should be excluded.

We don't have much in the way of ticks in this part of Lancashire
Simon, then you might call yourself a lucky macro photographer. Ticks are a dangerous pestilence in many countries.

Hi Peter, thank you for your contribution. I’ve never replaced an SD or a CF card in 10 years. I just keep re-using them. Where in Tasmania are you. My partner has family their!
