destinyhopefan112 It's an extremely competitive field and there are a LOT of people who'd like to 'make it' so I guess out of all the contestants/ people auditioning, the judges or choosers can be pretty ruthless in picking out the most refined, talented, hard-working, dedicated kids. Basically these are people picked out of a hell of a lot. So I'm sure a super-pretty girl or a handsome guy is who's good at ballet is more likely to get the spot than a less pretty or handsome person ya feel
It's better to take 4 weeks off because it turns into 4 months and ignoring your injuries and letting pride get the best of you could turn into years of recovery and pain.
Ballet is the #1 thing that I can do that makes me forget about everything. It is such beautiful artistry. All the gentle and graceful movements are far beyond perfect. When people say "ballet is boring" I ask them how can they think such a special and unique way of expressing yourself is "boring"? But one day I will be standing in their pointe shoes and I will one day dance as graceful as they did. I hope all of them get into the professional world of the great and beautiful ballet.
I know! I think what attracted us to want to dance ballet is because their love for ballet their passion burns so bright. And we're like moths to that flame, that flame is the passion of ballet
I'm curious about how the dancers there who have scoliosis deal with their classes. I mean, I have scoliosis and had to quit ballet for a year because of my surgery, and I'm considering to go to ballet again because it occupied half my life. I want to know other stories about scoliosis dancers in SAB if there are any.
Hannah H I have minor scoliosis and it does affect me, I have to constantly pop my back and I'm constantly in pain because of my back but I have never let it stop me, I stretch it out and when it's really hurting me I don't go as hard on my back you just have to listen to your body when it comes to things like that.
Dancers have very strong back and core muscles - which naturally help support the spinal column much more. If you have severe scoliosis/spinal issues, it will probably prevent you becoming an advanced dancer, but if you have minor problems, just your sheer physical fitness and core strength will go a long way to allowing you to push through it.
being a chinese dancer definitely i can tell an injury is something really everyone fears. it can take from a week to even months. it's really scary just not to dance. take care of yourselves ballerinas out there!
If possible, can you guys make a ep about how the girls/guys feel about their partnering thing? I mean, the movement is really sensitive at time. Like the guys will touch the girls boob etc... I know they are professionals but won't they feel uncomfortable?
Si Ying Ong, these are proffessional dancers. I think your trying to raise some kind of sexism arguement but dancing is a very physical artform that relies on contact. Much like when Men play Rugby, it is part of the artform and requires contact (even in places in general life they wouldnt be touched). Much like when movie stars play roles where they are groped or have sex scenes, its part of their art form and they believe in thata rt so much that you dont view what is required as anything more than a requirement. Guys dont grab and grope girls boobs and arses in ballet, they hold and carry them very eloquently! If there were guys going in there pretending to be dancers just to grab boobs, then yes youd have an arguement, but these are proffessionals. Please dont try and make them seem otherise with silly talk like this.
I have been a dancer as long as I can remember and have partnered with many many different people- my brother, my ex-boyfriend, best friends, guys, girls, older guys, kids, a current boyfriend. Partnering in just another part of being a dancer, the hardest aspect of partnering isn't the accidental boob touches, or misplaced hands. It's trusting that these people are going to catch you, that your partner will do everything they can to prevent you from making mistakes. Often girls are thrown in and out of potentially dangerous lifts, have the confidence that your partner will catch you no matter what that is real challenge within partnering.
Nope! :) i started at 14 and i was just in it for 4 months then quit for a year and came back when I was 16...supposedly just for summer (so 6 months) but classes start in July again and they said I'll be in the next level if i join again which is where we're in preparation for pointe. It's not about the age really...as long as you're determined to improve a lot. Like I did in just a few months :)) i even have a classmate who's 32 and married and she's been training for 1 year and we'll both be en pointe possible next year January? 😁
It's so sad how these kids keep getting seriously injured at such a young age without even having finished their studies. This is what happens when you turn ballet into a sport.
i love ballet and have been dancing since i was 3, but i have a pronation which means my feet roll in naturally when i move/walk, so i never have perfect feet and always fall forward and it sucks :(
Not all professional/great dancers have the perfect body type, perfect height, perfect feet for example Michaela De prince but she's hella famous and young too... Also, Misty Copeland......
They're talking, the editor would probably cut out the parts when they're actually eating or the camera crew would just not film it at all. Remember these parts are filmed for the purpose of making a video, watching them eat silently would be kind of dead space.
Sorry but it's not exactly the most attractive thing to be stuffing your face while having someone record you. Dancers do eat a lot, and I can attest to that since I have been dancing ballet for 12 years now, they just don't show them eating for the purpose of the show.
River LaFleur I want to start but I feel I want to to private lessons because everyone on the class might be really good and than there's me but don't be scared I did ballet when I was two I wish I had carried on but what I remember is it's fun and nothing to be scared of
Amelia Shields you should start again! I started when I was 11, which is late to start for a dancer. it took hard work to catch up to the other dancers, but when you do its worth it. I have been dancing for 2 years and I love it. follow your dreams!
It's common knowledge (for lack of a better word) to thank your teacher, director, choreographer, anyone who has provided creative material for you and helped you grow, at the end of a class. It's kind of a rule in the arts world. A curtsy is their way of thanking the teacher.
+Julianna Miller yes indeed! I dance at a professional dance school. Some teachers even had a combination for it. And it's a habbit to applaud at the end of the class. Like you said the teacher did something for you, it is the least you can do to thank him/her.
Lieke L Actually yes I remember. i did ballet when I was little and we had something that we had to do at the end of class as a group. But then I changed schools when iw as like six and we didn't have that so I didn't remember it.
My mum said I would be mad to do professional ballet and she won't let me leave home at 14 but I could say how would u like me living 22 hours away and she would prob say yes
"You're not a male model, you're her partner," Oh My God hahahahahaha
+Aryaman Pachori I know it is quite stupid but I believe they are keeping on the tradition as it always was
Aryaman Pachori the boys do dance
Shayana Foroutan ikr 😂😂😂
he can play guitar, play piano and can dance ...how talented can a person be ? just wow !
And he's also really handsome! ☺️☺️
Noah From The Next Step Is Better
+Leanne Khiem Nahhh
I play piano draw relli well play the piano sing and dance
Yeah he cant sing XD but hes an awesome dancer
I don't like how it repeats a set of words at the beginning and then somewhere in the middle. I don't like hearing the same thing over and over.
Same😒
let's not forget that they also say the same thing at the peak at next ep thingy
Lera Y it’s called a preview
Most shows like Strictly Ballet do that
Lera Y 😁
Exactly
Victor is literally perfect
I find ballet dancers so pretty! I don't know if it's their hairstyles or postures or what, but they're just so pretty???
they all have flawless skin, great hair and are very slim
Like why would you want ugly people on stage anyway
^ there are no ugly people
destinyhopefan112 It's an extremely competitive field and there are a LOT of people who'd like to 'make it' so I guess out of all the contestants/ people auditioning, the judges or choosers can be pretty ruthless in picking out the most refined, talented, hard-working, dedicated kids. aurielle ima ballet dancer and I ain’t pretty soooo yea :| ummm
It's better to take 4 weeks off because it turns into 4 months and ignoring your injuries and letting pride get the best of you could turn into years of recovery and pain.
I love how teen vogue caters specifically to so many people
Thanks for the note!
any time
It's so cute how the ballerinas curtsy to their teachers at the end of the lesson
It's not cute, it's respect!
We do that at my ballet school. It wraps up the class nicely. And like Claire Zamboni said, it's respectful.
Dude, I'm a ballerina. If we don't do that, then they don't let us leave the room. And it's the right thing to do anyway.
i'm a chinese dancer. we do that to our teachers too.
uofc57 they have to its dance equette
when you're just pirouetting and you spot yourself in the mirror and you secretly think to yourself how cool you look
Chelsea Wang trueeeee
I don’t do that but I can see why others would

I wish i was a ballerina .. I love ballet
So be a ballerina. Don't talk about you want to do, should do. Just do it. :-)
I can't . we don't have ballet schools !
Arij Selmi
So don't go to a ballet school. Start small. Take ballet classes at a dance studio, and work your way up.
***** Absolutely! It's not too late at all!
***** Aww, thank you! I'm so glad!
@Teen Vogue Make a video about Juilliard's drama students.
thats genius! ive been working on acting ever since i was small so seeing the life of julliard students would be greattt
yes! I'd love that
Or opera singers study!
YES!
I'm learning opera singing and acting, so I want to see how people studying on professional level :)
I have so much respect for these people. They have to juggle so much and keep focuses all at the same time.
We love a daily dose of talent to remind me that I have none:)

Lauramnesie OMG U JUST MADE MY DAY lolz😂😂😂
I am studying music and watching this makes me want to be a ballet dancer
I know! I think what attracted us to want to dance ballet is because their love for ballet their passion burns so bright. And we're like moths to that flame, that flame is the passion of ballet
I love ballet this is my dream so I watch this to see what it's like. Thanks for making it, it's awesome!
I'm dancing ballet at a local dance studio near my house and this really inspires me to go to a ballet school in the future!!
It's amazing how talented these students are! Sing, dance, play the piano, play the guitar.... wow I love these video series!
I went to an SAB summer intensive and I loved it there and this is making me love it more
I love this so much
I get the same feeling performing singing onstage as I do dancing too! : )
SAME NAME 💖💖💖
😄😘
Jasmine looks similar and sounds like Quinta from buzzfeed and Quinta is a dancer ^_^
Zoe Borja yesss
In order to impress, one must impress self first.
My dads putting me in ballet 😃😃😃 SO EXCITED
Killer Voltage how is it going now?
Killer Voltage how’s it going now? 🙂
Hey, how is it going now?
I love Jock Soto, and Darci Kistler.

I absolutely am obsessed with this show! I love it!
victor is soo cute! he reminds me of Clay from new port beach a few years ago on mtv
Its such a mouthful when guys are refered to as male ballet dancers
I love dance! ♡
Is very very beautiful! 😊
This series is so awesome😍😍😍
Jasmines body is literally perfect ❤️
The mimicking is hilarious! My mom's plan B was the military. She got a bad injury and couldn't dance anymore.
Wowww. The mesage of this videos is soooo beautiful!!!!
this show is soooo addicting.
so inspiring
I always wanted to be a part of some sport or art but my parents never put in anything and my parents are strict so no ballet for me.
being a chinese dancer definitely i can tell an injury is something really everyone fears. it can take from a week to even months. it's really scary just not to dance. take care of yourselves ballerinas out there!

It doesn't feel that uncomfortable lol! But usually that doesn't happen
I've always heard the saying, "There are no private parts in partnering"
Si Ying Ong, these are proffessional dancers. I think your trying to raise some kind of sexism arguement but dancing is a very physical artform that relies on contact.

We’d rather that than be dropped, so it isn’t really that uncomfortable
Victor is amazing!
Victor.. Is litterally good at anything wth
I always thought it was tough and like the atmosphere is tense but I guess teachers can still be funny.
why do some people wear tights under their leo and some over? is it just preference or is there a reason?
No, just what you prefer
Preference
I love these episodes
Ballet is my life and this is my dream! 🏢❤️
I want to go to this school so much but i live on the other Side of the world... Have a wonderfull day everyone ❤️
go for it!!
Imanivdhorn X yooo ARMY ballerina what up
I am so happy I don't do ballet anymore lol damn it looks intense and I definitely don't love it enough to put myself through that!
Wow Victor is a multi instrument king haha
im 14 and have never done ballet before but i really want to start but am i to old? can any ballet expert help me lol
As long as you are willing to work your hardest and dedicate yourself to ballet then its never to late to start!
It's nearly to old ... You will not be the best at the beginnig and you have to work really hard
You're never too old to start dancing. I started when I was 13 and now, one year later I even get to work on my danceschool.
Nope! :) i started at 14 and i was just in it for 4 months then quit for a year and came back when I was 16...supposedly just for summer (so 6 months) but classes start in July again and they said I'll be in the next level if i join again which is where we're in preparation for pointe. If you want to be professional you would be almost in a company at 14
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH i cant wait for the next episode!!
+vivi sidney It's at the School of American Ballet, but they most likely share the cafeteria with Juilliard.
I would love to go here when I’m older but I would never make it in
It's so sad how these kids keep getting seriously injured at such a young age without even having finished their studies. This is what happens when you turn ballet into a sport.
What color tights are they wearing pink or white?
(I think) pink. Some are just lighter pinks.
Technically, pink, they're just a really light pink. When they're not on they actually look more pink-skin color
Really light pink
They're really light pink that's what I wear
It's called gentle pink. It's almost a white but no quite.
Victor, the new Patrick Swayze!
the African American girl makes me think of Selena Gomez somehow??
Does anyone know the song at 5:59? Google shows nothing. :(
Does anyone know where are they now?
i love ballet and have been dancing since i was 3, but i have a pronation which means my feet roll in naturally when i move/walk, so i never have perfect feet and always fall forward and it sucks :(
awh :( don't give up!
Who is the red sweater dancer at 3:53?
Mimi is so pretty
ugh its so close to audition time
OH MY GOODNESS FORDHAM IS MY DREAM ☺️
It's currently 3:24 a.m where I live😫
Not all professional/great dancers have the perfect body type, perfect height, perfect feet for example Michaela De prince but she's hella famous and young too... Also, Misty Copeland......
I just started pointe after 9 years of dancing but I'm 11
6:18 is this Jasmine Thompson?!??
anyone else realize how none of the girls really touch the food that's in front of them?
They're talking, the editor would probably cut out the parts when they're actually eating or the camera crew would just not film it at all. Remember these parts are filmed for the purpose of making a video, watching them eat silently would be kind of dead space.

If I had cameras watching me I probably would eat at that point as well
I want to do ballet but watching this makes me scared to do it......
Don't be scared! Ballet is the best thing ever, and it just takes a lot of hard work, some tears, and dedication.
River LaFleur same I'm 14 and I've wanted to become a dancer since I was 12
River LaFleur I want to start but I feel I want to to private lessons because everyone on the class might be really good and than there's me but don't be scared I did ballet when I was two I wish I had carried on but what I remember is it's fun and nothing to be scared of

WHAT IS A "LEAN LINE?"
They make them curtsey to the teacher one by one after class
It's common knowledge (for lack of a better word) to thank your teacher, director, choreographer, anyone who has provided creative material for you and helped you grow, at the end of a class. It's kind of a rule in the arts world. A curtsy is their way of thanking the teacher.

omg that girl is mean she made fun of victor’s height
My mum said I would be mad to do professional ballet and she won't let me leave home at 14 but I could say how would u like me living 22 hours away and she would prob say yes
What's Victor's last name and is he on Facebook?
The way he added an r to patella drove me nuts
Ship Victor and Australian guy
2018 anyone?
Και οι έξι είναι πολύ γλυκούλιδες και τα δίνουν όλα γι'αυτό που κάνουν
It says *strictly* ballet but watching them playing music being free ;/
Coming from a musician, we might see it the other way around haha! It's all perspective, I guess
Artists By Any Other Name I’m AM a musician too
Fluffy Aimee haha great!
Artists By Any Other Name thanks too
WELL, YOU COULD ALWAYS TRY TEACHING ENGLISH FOR VIPKID WHILE YOUR INJURY RECOVERS.
Victor kinda look alike zach king, kinda
ok so I heard about Julliard in a tv show I was watching but I didn't think it was a real place. (actually, I did know but I wasn't sure) :))
"It can be challenging knowing you have to dance with someone else." I'd suggest you stay away from ballroom dancing sweetie :-)
yo victor can’t sing at all lmao but he’s good at ballet tho sooo..
Victor kills my hears he so bad at the guitar but good at ballet so keep doing ballet but you don’t have to the qweit doing the guitar
Why is this series so repetitive??? It's very annoying. They don't say much if we cut out the repetitions.
Victor is damn fine srsly
