You see all these guys who spend their lives in the gym all pumped up walking around with 18" biceps who think they're really strong and then you see a 14 old girl essentially doing squats over and over again en pointe, that is what you call strength.
I think ballet gives you a lot of opportunity to travel. Hearing the kids talking about leaving their friends is very reminiscent of my senior year in high school. The difference for these kids is that they have the chance to get a job abroad, as there are many ballet companies all over the world, especially in Europe! These kids are very lucky. :)
I am 12 and I really want to be a professional ballerina but I only did ballet for 3 years , when I was 3,4 and 5 years old, but I'm a competitive jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary and hip hop dancer so I would love to either start ballet again or become a professional dancer in general. This show is amazing! Me and my friends watch this while stretching at dance
im almost 12 and ive been doing ballet for almost 5 years straight. i idd it for a year when i was 5, but i stopped and im mad my mom let me tbh. in a couple years when im 14 i really want to audition for the adc SO BAD. im just really self conscious of my dancing and idk if i will be good enough. im hopefully getting en pointe this year, and hopefully 2 years of experience en pointe will be enough to get into adc :))
I can't believe that people think that ballet is easy it is so demanding and takes so much work and effort it takes hours and you don't really have much time for anything else • I am a ballet dancer in the highest level at my studio and I have to dance everyday jot including extra rehearsals • and some people are like "oh I want to do ballet because it is pretty and I think I'm going to wear pointe shoes when I first start that is such a lie
Canela i know they come in different colors and backgrounds obviously but successful/professional ballerinas have to be very thin that’s the “look” i was referring to
cocobana29 They both have beautiful technique , I think Mimi has the Eurocentric ballerina look that MOST nyc female dancers have and she is more fluid.
Abbie nowak I'm start a ballet when I was 11.5-12 years old. And now i can't without it. Here's some tip😇👌🏻: if you dream about dancing, if you want dancing -there no one that will stop you! Take misti (if you know or don't know her- she is a ballerina that start when she was 13 years old) ...she's an amazing dancer, she's a model to express !! This is never to late to start do a ballet, never to old for this!❤️

I'm 13 and I want to start ballet but I don't know if I'm too old already. I did gymnastics for six years but it didn't really feel right anymore. I feel like if I wanted to do ballet, I should have started six years ago and I'm just wondering if I already missed my chance
I think you should try it out!! I quit ballet when I was 10 and lost all of my skill, but at age 12 I started again and now I am 13 and have the hang of it
World Traveler just try it :) Most ballett schools let you take one or two classes to kind of try it out and you've probably built a lot of strength and flexibility already while doing gymnastics. If you really want to do it, go for it
World Traveler Misty Copeland started at 13, I sorta started at 12,5 and I want to be proffessional. If you just work hard enough, you'll be fine. And besides, age is just a number!
Im 14 and I've been dancing for 11 years now and I would like to be a professional dancer but I feel like I'm too late because all these people on here started at this school when they were 13/14 . Am I too late?
This is kinda late but no definitely not check out Kathryn Morgan's channel she wiil help you a lot she was a soloist with the NYCB and she didn't start at SAB till she was 16.
funny girls I started when I was 3 and got on when I was 13, it really depends on your ankle strength as that is what your putting your whole body weight on
funny girls it can take as long as 7 years or as little as 2 years. It depends on your technique and strength. I got mine after 2 years. hope this helped.
When you want somebody to read your comment, you should write in the language of the video above... I'm German and, nevertheless, I write in English, because this is an English video. No offense, just a little tip for you in future.
***** I can't take people seriously who've never learnt another language (okay, when they've never had the opportunity that's something different), so I don't like it either when English people comment in English under German videos (except for when they say that they try to learn German with that video). Or what did you mean? Sry! I didn't understand your post really😓
I'm from the Netherland I started with dancing when I was six I started with jazz the next year i'm doing ballet I stopped with ballet one year a go and I started with lyrical and now I'm doing ballet en lyrical I'm al most 14🙌🏼
classes are probably in the afternoon but they probably have to get up early for school and stuff (if they go to actual school). Probably not that early though
Can someone tell me the color coding for each of the class levels. I’ve seen the advanced girls wear black leotards, but then white during Pas de Deux class.
I dance in a studio which is a not the best for my future I am thinking of going to a ballet studio from who a lot of ballet dancers in Greece become famous what do you guys think guys I am from Greece if you didn't understand
I'm 13 and I've been doing ballet since I was 2 and I've been en pointe for 5 years. I recently broke my ankle from syciling my foot during a pirouette. The doctor says I'm going to have to take a year off dance, and doing that I may have to start from scratch. Dancing is the most amazing thing in my life and a want to get back to it as soon as possible. Does anyone know anyway to get back fast after an injury?
You can try doing the RICE method for about a month, or just try resting it. Then once you can finally stand on your ankle, try doing ankle exercises(but be very cautious when doing so) to get ur ankle used to different movements.
While your off, THINK about ballet- sounds weird, but It will help. Just think about doing plíes and pirouettes and that Kind of Thing Sorry weird formatting lol
thank you guys so much for your support but my mum won't let me go because she thinks that I'm too old and that it will ruin my body (TT) But you guys have no idea how much this meant to me that someone actually supports me ^_^

This is one of the most interesting youtube-type-shows I have ever seen!

Both are strong in different ways.
HelenaBlack80 u are so right, ballet dancers really need to be strong but then, u just can't have a big but, strong arms, and so much more
HelenaBlack80 ikr I totally agree especially as a dancer and I've been goaling to be in American ballet forever. I started ballet at 3
@Otto Coldbeer it also teaches them discipline! Ballet can teach people so many things, not just dancing!
@@rachelwei2286 - that's true of all sports and music
It takes me a second to realize when they say job, they mean a contract with a ballet company.
Anna The Jellybean
Same! I keep thinking she means at a café or something.
same
This is my dream ballet school ! I will me auditioning later this year!!
It looks amazing. Good luck!
Good look!!!!
Good luck❤️
luck :)
good luck
if i had a dollar every time she said "which is kind of scary" i could pay for tuition to SAB
This year I'm 18, and I've got to get a job.
Sound familiar? It's cuz you've heard it in every episode
b p 😂😂😂

It looks like Jasmine has ended up at Los Angeles Ballet.
Katrina Wolfe yes she did

I love this series. Im take ballet classes so it's so inspiring to watch them
Jasmine ends up at the Los Angeles ballet company and Mimi gets accepted into the New York City ballet
Kristy Cheung I’m not surprised Mimi has that stereotypical ballerina look
@@blairwaldorf-bass8180 she also has great techniques, more than Jasmine I would say

I want to have a semi-professional career in dance...
You can!
Crxftinq Moon it is hard and taking a long time
Crxftinq Moon n
Your either in 100% or not at all, there is no “semi professional”
I want to go to de dance acadamy, i love ballet and dance soo much!!!
I know right? When i finish secondary (high) school,i wanna come here!
Ugggg. Can't wait for next episode. I wanna go to Sab so bad. I'm auditioning this summer
Ur lucky to have enough money to do that
My grandparents are paying. I had to do a bake sale for this summer
I hope u make it
I'll see you there-(•__•)
But I wont be going
I literally went to see a ballet here in Dresden last week in which that girls friend was in.

I love this inside scoop of the world i love :)
the nycb director guy looks SO MUCH like robert california i just had to say this
So psyched for the next episode
I self teach myself in ballet and I'm pretty good but I don't think I'll ever be able to go here. This place is my dream though.
I love how this is on TH-cam thank you so much
oh hey i'm from germany hahah 🙋

Hallo!
Ich auch!!!
Hi ich auch 😂

I am so excited for next weeks video!! :D
Peter Martins legit looks like Roald Dahl
I NEED THIS!! I am auditioning for SAB's summer intensive next week and im so scared! 😬
How did it go?
I didn't get in- but im only 14 so I wasn't really expecting anything big this year. I got in PNB's Summer Intensive, though!!
It looks so elegant and graceful but it's such hard work. Im excited for the next episode - more please!🙉
The director Peter is super graceful i didn’t expect that! He was giving examples in jeans lol
I’m binge watching this series😍
That old lady sleeping at 02:15
I've been doing ballet since I first turned 8, I'm almost 16 now
She's so cute! I hope we get to see what ultimately happens with her and the others. Whether she gets into nycb or not I'd like to follow her career.
Just an update she is now a soloist in LA Ballet.
I love ballet and these videos only these raises my love for it
Are you a ballerina?
I'm watching this episode exactly the same day it was uploaded only different years
OMGGG!!!!!!! I recognize Houston!!! He went to ChiArts H.S. in Chicago
Man, I swore I saw someone I knew on one of the pictures on the walls. These videos just show how small the dance world can be. ^_^
Arabella Tan lol right :)
I'm auditioning here!

I am actually going to that school next year
Sweet!
I hate when people think ballet is just prancing around and twirling its a lot more than that you have to be physically and mentally trained

RIP Peter Martins...
Yeah this hasn't aged well Peter Martins resigned in disgrace
J Nunyabizio how come?

Hi 2017 people
Russia is the place to train
Poor Jasmine, she does not have a dancer's body. I saw Russian ballerinas and they are like third of her size plus it is hard to get classical roles when you are not white.
Russian ballerinas are chosen based on body type.... She has a pretty good body for the style of ballet she does
...In case you haven't noticed, this isn't Russia.
Have you seen Precious Adams?
It has nothing to do with race! Stop spreading lies. Jasmine didn't have the level of talent, physique, or feet for the company. That is why she wasn't accepted.
Ok so I am getting confused, braids on a white person is apparently cultural appropriation, but a black person doing ballet is not cultural appropriation.
