    Hello friends,
I've been working on some interesting new ideas. Producing these archives is an extremely time-consuming process. Thanks for supporting and sharing these stories. A friend once said, 'without our stories, we have nothing'.

Well done! This is a fascinating story, so like mine yet so different, too.

I really appreciated hearing your coming-out story, Richard. You mentioned how you had 'dodged the bullet' throughout your life, and I'm grateful that you did. I'm so sorry that your brother, Fred, was taken by someone insecure and hateful-possibly struggling with his own identity. In the end, you've found the love of your life, even if it took 45 years to get there. I'm truly happy for you, Richard, and wish you and your partner a lifetime of happiness together! ♥

I always like seeing those old colorized Family portraits. Your high school photo is so handsome. I knew nothing about sex until I was 17.

Thank you for your story. Never would want to live through the 70's again!

Richard, thank you! I grew up in highly restrictive versions of Christianity-Catholic, Baptist, and eventually Mormon. It took me 39 years to realize that suffocating and hateful dogmatists don’t have a right to dictate my life and faith to me.
Your beautiful life experience has uplifted me.

It took 45 years for that picture to come to life.

Thanks for sharing your story with us. You and your partner were extraordinarily beautiful as young men and still handsome today. I'm glad you are together. Growing old alone can be difficult.

I expect Richard and I are around the same age b/c the gay life he experienced is much like the one I lived through. Though I never saw anyone arrested and I went to bars a sufficient amount that if it were common, I'd have seen that happen. And I saw far more flagrant behavior at bars! I've been in three relationships, the last one for 22 years. We broke up and I'm now happily single, my plan to remain so. But I applaud Richard's finally settling with a spouse he loves and who loves him. Bravo!

San Francisco may have appeared to be a "gay Mecca" 50 years ago, but the reality was this: Half of the City leaned Left, while the other 50÷ was conservative. Mayor George Moscone only narrowly defeated Republican John Barbagelata in 1975. In 1977, both Harvey Milk and his killer Dan White were elected San Francisco Supervisor from different districts on the same day. This Tale of Two Cities is the actual history of San Francisco. 🌈
