This, the Ribbon Form, is a Will Weston addition to the form family. After seeing him use the ribbon, I realized it's something that everyone uses without really intentionally knowing what it is. Here is an demo of some of the possibilities of the ribbon form. I'd say it's pretty much essential for drawing any kind of organic or organic-style form.

This is an excellent video and so complicated to figure out from a 3D to a 2D form. I like the way you add info about what objects use ribbon forms in rendering such as coffee cup handles, suitcase handles etc. Is there a resource that you know that would explain all this further? Many thanks!
First off, thanks. As far as figuring it out, you'll start to see it as you draw more and more things. Also, I made some form combination videos that use the 7 basic forms in different ways. Right now I'm working on basic object drawing videos that will apply these forms to specific objects. This stuff is all cobbled together from a whole bunch of places, and I recommend pulling bits here and there. People like Loomis, Bridgman, Vilppu, etc. all paved the way for this stuff, and loads of people have been developing these tools for all kinds of applications.
Oh my God, doing it from live ribbon is really tough though. Any advice sir?
Keep breaking it down into shapes: triangles, S-curves, and C-curves. If it's overwhelming, simplify as far as you can.
