    it doesn't hurt that you're sometimes funny in these. I've been looking for a while for tutorials that bridged the gap from comic book coloring from 20 years ago to better digital painting. You're stuff seems to fit the bill. thanks!

    Really good to see another video from you! A lot of awesome artists seem to dabble in youtube, make a handful of videos and then lose interest so I was a little concerned that had happened with you too.
    Your videos are really helpful and I love listening to them while I draw, keep it up! :)

    A friend recently told me about your tutorials and I am really happy he did! You are very easy to listen to, laidback and fun. It's easy to tell that you have a real passion for what you do, and that really helps to convey the messages you want to send. You kind of remind me of Mark Crilley.

    bro, I love watching art videos and speed paints, and I have a few channels I go through, but yours is the only one I choose to like the videos for, because there's certain things you mention that I haven't heard before or since, like the hair ribbon thing perfect example, you giving me that info allows me to use it to teach myself. your the man

    If you did another hair style I would love to see some big locks like in the 3rd photo reference. This is something I really struggle with and seeing how you approach it would be a big help. :)

    I finally realized why your painting in this video felt like it had something off; the left side of her hair is starting from her part, as in it looks like her hair is being taken from the back of her head and pulled to the front. Anyone watching this and trying to learn about hair, remember to think about the direction of your hair part and how the "ribbons" are coming from the part outwards!

    • @justmeesh9148
      @justmeesh9148 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also find something about her hair to be slightly off, but I get the feeling that the section of hair you're talking about is supposed to be the girl's bangs, so it would naturally fall forward instead of to the side.
      The sections around her right ear (our left side) is where my eyes get lost in how the hair is flowing.

    I am super duper late to this video, but it was an excellent tutorial... and super fun too! Or should I say "funner"? Hah.
    That insight of thinking of hair of ribbons literally made me sit up in my chair and gasp because I literally never thought of hair that way. So much easier!
    I'll definitely be back for more. Thanks so much Ahmed!

    • @p3gasus233

      I mean like the brushes in photoshop airbrush = soft edge and hardroundbrush = hard edge
      For example in this image, her arms, legs, nose and et cetera are hardedge and her belly muscles are soft edge. I wonder how you do that, have a cleary contour without use lines. How to paint without use lineart I guess. I hope I made myself clear, sorry my bad english i'm brazilian and still learning english.

    Not only did you not even try on the girl with natural hair, you just couldn't help sneaking in a dig on the girl with dreads about how "it doesn't look like pretty ribbons." Everybody's hair isn't like that, but her hair is still pretty. it doesn't have to be a ribbon to be pretty. Why did you have any black girls on here at all when you weren't going to treat them fairly anyway? It was pointless to try to appear fair, when you weren't going to be fair because obviously you don't care about them. That much is clear in how you NEVER draw girls like that. Girls like them are invisible to people like you.

    • @AhmedAldoori
      @AhmedAldoori  7 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      +Miss Misfyt wow... You can still use the ribbon method on dreads or curly hair. I don't remember implying that one style of hair is prettier than another. When I said "this doesn't look like pretty ribbons", I was referring to how loose my own drawing was, NOT the hair style. If I tend to draw a "type" of girl it doesn't mean I don't care about other types. Even if I did, there is nothing wrong with having a preference. What is this, 1984? It is after all, my art - it is NOT my responsibility to draw what YOU think I should draw. You can draw whatever you want, and I can draw whatever I want. It's amazing how upset you can get over something like this, taking free education and making it about my drawing preferences.
      There is beauty in every race, just because I tend to draw Lord of the Rings type elves doesn't mean I don't believe that, your accusations are stemmed from misunderstanding and misinterpretations.

    • @jmydn2
      @jmydn2 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      you kinda let me down on this too. I was like "oh Ahmed has some black girls here too! it'll be cool to see how he draws their hair". Then you did the ribbon technique (for the sake of the tut, I get it). but it's all good , we'll fill in the blanks. thnx mang!

      normally I wouldn't even make a big deal out of something like this, but it's bad enough you barely even find much art of ethnic people, but it's worse when they're completely brushed over like this. I started watching this tutorial to see how you would approach natural hair, and low and behold it's completely passed over.*sigh*
