After a chilled day in the van, we visit a Christmas market in Cannes!! Midlife vanlife

- This week we spend a day at one of our favourite park ups on the riviera, answer a few questions on the van build, visit the Christmas market in Cannes and Charlotte returns with the cooking segment.
Recipe for roasted tomatoes and feta in the Omni oven.
1 punnet of cherry or baby plum tomatoes
1 small red onion
1 block of feta
Dressing
3 tbsp avocado oil (use olive oil if you prefer)
2 tbsp honey
3 cloves of garlic
salt, pepper and herbes de Provence seasoning
Layer the tomatoes, onion and feta in either a roasting dish or omni oven, pour the whisked dressing ingredients over the tomatoes etc. close the lid and roast for approximately 40 minutes. Add the already cooked rice/orzo for the last 5 minutes.
Recipe for Apple with rum soaked sultanas.
3 large apples
30 g salted butter
3 packets of vanilla sugar or 3 tbsp plain sugar
1 tsp cinnamon (more if you like it stronger)
100g sultanas (I soaked them in rum for about an hour before using them)
Peel, core and dice the apples. Place the butter, vanilla sugar and cinnamon in a heavy based pan and stir until butter has melted. Add the diced apples and sultanas, give a good stir and leave to cook down for about 15 minutes.
serve au naturel or with custard/cream.

Lovely video and so is your red sweater Charlotte, a perfect match for the weather. Happy first anniversary on yt! It sounds like the French authorities are fairly relaxed about vans and motorhomes during the winter months. This may well be the best method and time of the year to explore the riviera because let's face it, those 43C heatwaves during the summer are no fun! The escape hatch has turned from a mystery into a dilemma - do we let more light in (via curtains) or keep the decorative wall. I think the answer was clear 😀

Well I live in Chicago and today was in the 40's.. we've had beautiful weather. But come Jan. We will have snow up to are nickers, lol. On another note I would be very leary about Ame going to Hollywood, it's not so safe these days. My brother is a famous Artists and had a beautiful Art studio in Beverly hills, until February of this year when bullets came flying through his Gallery window while his children were in the gallery. Now he's back in Chicago, no safer i should add. Ame is a beautiful woman with little experience with violence I'm sure. It seems pretty safe in your neck of the woods.
Okay, so what did you do with Charlotte and Rob? You two are getting along and happy with one another for a change. Happy anniversary on TH-cam. I've watched so many episodes you are now starting to feel like family. Have a great holiday season.

Please enjoy your life at your age. I took life for granted when I was 50. Now I am 71 and have a bad ankle on one leg and a bad hip on the other. A walk for me is about 100 meters round trip. I miss being active. Never take your health for granted.

Regarding the weather, this Monday (11th) it’s been a nice sunny day here in Portsmouth. Probably not as warm as you guys been enjoying, but it’s been 12c.

You never know when you need to jump in the cab (whilst not getting out of the van) and drive away from a dangerous situation.

first of all get well soon and enjoy life together !!! and the escape way in the van..use two magnets on the sides and a door knob in the middle wich you can pull in an emergency...a lot quicker than a screwdriver..and if it doesn't "stick" eneough while driving use more magnets...hope to "see" you back soon. ❤

As film makers you can't get too much practice. I really enjoy the visual aesthetic of both your and Ame's podcasts. Encourage Ame to be patient with her pursuits. It's not a good time to be making a move LA,. Unless you have an offer on the table, don't risk it, stay where your at. So much is shut down,.it's not worth it. I'm in NYC and it's not good. The upside is it will be coming back. God Willing! It's wonderful to see you all. again.
This is very true! With all of the homeless now, and the open borders, there's people all over the streets at all hours. Many are on meth, and not making good decisions. Maybe if Ame could talk to Eva zu Beck (another youtuber) who just left the US recently she could get some solid advice. Safety first please! ❤

That meal Charlotto with those ingredients looks really delicious. You have a great knowledge and flair of what goes with what to beat the taste buds up, and presentation, all from a van gas ring, few could do it better.Probably your fed up with hearing this, but a serious Charlotte cookbook, your cooking and Robs photo work, and how to get in out there many would surely buy, even at pre-order, maybe needs some thought.

I guess it might be something you do once in a while as that's alot of time to produce, compared to your normal vids. Oh I just love Charlotte’s sailor’s vocabulary! I also noticed that you’ve finally purchased a better knife. Well your emergency hatch could use a simple improvement. What happens if in the time you do need to use it, and you can’t find your screwdriver? I would suggest you replace your current screws and switch over to using wing nuts. Then all you have to do is just use your fingers and thumbs to remove the screws those screws. It’s one less thing you have to find, and one you loosen it. You can just spin them off quickly save valuable time. I’m not used to seeing you glammed up or your makeup for an evening out on the town.

If you don’t want to be moving ornaments all the time you can use a end mill to drill a flat bottom hole in ornaments thickness of a neodymium magnets & glue into the ornaments with epoxy glue & sheet metal or magnetic stainless steel bench tops

Yes I am jealous! The Christmas markets looked great - not as tacky as some you see - actually very classy. Just on ex pat living, we knew a bloke in a pub quiz team we were in a few years back. He had a place in Spain but wintered in the UK!!! His rationale was something I hadn't thought of before but he hated British summers - he was fine with cold weather at a time when it was appropriate but overcast skies in June/July/August he just couldn't tolerate.
