The only Ms podcast I care to catch regularly. Excellent content and it’s been great watching your trajectory. Looking forward to the future- great job!!
A team that has missed the playoffs for two straight years, and somehow the team hasn’t taken any steps to improve the offense. How can fans conclude anything other than ownership isn’t serious about winning?
If the front office and ownership do not do anything significant to improve this roster before the start of the season I’m just going to boycott and sit the entire year out. I will not pay for a sub-par product, specifically when very little effort has been exhausted. I fully recognize I’m just one person(family of 4) that potentially won’t be making a monumental impact however and more importantly I will NOT be making purchases to support this docile approach to the 2025 season! That being said I would strongly encourage other fans to reconsider buying tickets to even just a single game. Maybe then… just maybe our voices will not fall on deaf ears.
That's part of the problem. Mariner ownership KNOWS that you are coming back after a year. Until the stadium sits EMPTY, not emptyish, and merch sales go negative, nothing will ever change. It should make more people furious that we were all taxed to pay for T mobile park, ownership paid nothing. Spend money, assholes, sell the team or move it to Portland or Oklahoma. WE. ARE. TIRED. OF. OWNERSHIP'S. BULLSHIT.
Tbh as much as it's memed is the opening day infield that much worse than last year, you argue raley is better than france, Williamson is at minimum better at defense than urias and bliss has gotta at least be on par with polanco
Orioles get: Castillo, Locklear(#6 prospect) Evans(#10 prospect) and Williamson(#15 prospect) Mariners get: Coby Mayo, Mountcastle, and Means or Kremer( some sort of starting pitcher replacement) Then we got some money to invest into 2B and the bullpen
Exactly. What was the biggest FA signing outside Soto? There are a few ones still out there but do you overpay (again) for a player that is most likely on the decline (ie. Bregman)? I still think they should sign Turner. And who knows? Maybe one of the young studs in the minors might surprise some people. 🤷🏻♂️ Go M’s!!
You might be right, but it is something they have not tried enough of, and they have yet to go over the top. At some point, it's worth a shot, since the alternative isn't totally working.
Mariners need to be sold to an owner who is committed to winning and put the money where their mouth is not just be competitive, same old story from ownership and get a quality GM
This off season is the worst possible off season. Although......the past 2 off seasons after their accidental playoff appearance.......were awful as well. Shall we list the crapload of players that Jerry has added the past 2 ....now 3 off seasons? Since their playoff appearance.....they have added almost NO talent. Luke Raley is the best add in 3 off seasons. How pathetic. This ownership group has tied the hands of Jerry and we will all pay for it this coming season when it's the same old same old. Everyone is upset at the talent coming off the board......Lux the latest. But this offense is VERY broken. Lux and most of the talent we have been chasing this whole off season aren't needle movers. It's not the kind of talent that will get us over the hump. Bregman and Alonso would. Those two would be enough to make the M's contenders. Lux and Carlos Santana would not. BUT.....thats what the M's have decided to try and acquire. Pathetic.
Overpaying for Gavin Lux is not a smart decision. I am holding out hope that the Mariners will team up with Tampa Bay on a trade for Lowe and Fairbanks. I would give Peete and that Comp A pick plus more to get Lowe and Fairbanks.
@@scottblanchard9614 Is it really a over pay? I think it's a fair trade. You know what Lux is pretty much at a low cost. The Dodgers hope those prospects turnout.. key word "Hope". .. they may.. they may not. That being said it's a good gamble on the Dodgers part. Seems fair in the present time
@@teambigv Lux is an average bat. While that would be nice to have at second base a Comp A pick and a top 10 prospect seems like a lot to give up for Gavin Lux. GAP is a hitters park so Lux’s numbers should go up in ‘25. That would not be a safe assumption at T-Mobile.
@@MarineLayerPod I think they very well could be good this year. Not saying they will be for sure, but we have tried trading some of them recently and those guys go on to being better then what we get back for them. In fact we struck out on what we got back and those guys should have been good. Why not try using what we have now and who knows most likely they will be better this year not just down the stretch than what we could have gotten back for them.

Love it when you have Steven Souza Jr. on the podcast! It's always great to hear his perspective!

So refreshing to listen to hosts that are open minded rather than the one sided we are right mentality on a locked on
Guys, nice podcast! Your content quality has grown and you are getting some great guests and insights.
Thanks so much! That means a lot
Love Souza, awesome presence. Not bummed we missed out on Lux, that package should be what we work with for Lowe in TB, no?

How would we feel about an offseason where we get Casas, Lux, Yoshida, and maybe Cal Quantrill while we loose out on Castillo and Tai Peete?
Lyle! Cmon man! We're already at 54 %. No need to spend or upgrade.
😂😂😂
Not even at 54% this roster is more of a 48-51%
Souza/ Eminem both Ninjas!
-Min Cap
-Max Cap
-You must pay your lowest paid player 5% min of your highest paid player.
Love going to base by pros great staff!
If there is a cap it should be scaled on market size too

Have we done a welfare check on the front office yet?
Still no signs of life!

You don’t overpay, you pay what each player is worth
The Mariners would have to to get hitters here
This team depresses me I need to expect nothing so I’m never disappointed
:/
Doppelganger
i am costco wholesale i want to sponsor you
M’s about to kiss another window goodbye … Best pitching staff top to bottom in baseball and they’re gonna litterally give up …
Mariners should be sued if they don't do something 😂
Unless you're signing a top tier player...free agency is mostly a suckers bet. Lux is a bird in the hand...you don't know about the two in the bush.

Can we get Steven Souza Jr for a 1 year deal?
👀

So freaking tired of trading with Tampa Bay.
The Rays have said they’re not gonna trade Lowe and Yandy. So they may not be available

I think our prospects will be better then Lux.
They could be, but when, this year? Because this year is what matters

Sign JT and bring up Ben, Cole, and let's freaking GO!!!
Look baseball is not a sport where you can believe a small or mid market team can win it all anymore.
It’s definitely becoming a lot tougher, that’s for sure
