  • I am a Leather Craftsman located in the United States and I am just trying to have a little fun and teach you how I do leather work. I cover everything from cutting it out to tooling, dying, burnishing and finishing in this video. I take great pride in everything I make and this is truly my passion. If your interested in more of a tutorial style video with patterns let me know in the comments and I will try and do a few of those videos and put some patterns up on my Etsy.
    If your interested in winning the minimalist wallet from my first video become a subscriber and comment down in the comments I will do that Giveaway once I reach 30 subscribers. I am also doing 2 more giveaways on my Instagram and Facebook for a free custom dog collar.

    Hey great video! BTW - I b Yogi's human and the collar is beautiful, you do exceptional work. Going to get one for Oreo now. Thank you so much.

      Judging by the pfp, Is Yogi (& Oreo) a field bred English cocker or springer spaniel?! Ironically I’m here looking to make a collar for my future field bred cocker spaniel

      Yogi is a mix of a yellow lab and a Burmese mountain dog, and Oreo is a border collie. The collars are a little bit different in size but the individual who made them does an excellent job. I would definitely recommend you get a collar it’s a work of art and functions beautifully.

      Haha thank you so much. I appreciate it. I'm still a beginner compared to some of the guys out there but I really do love leather crafting. Hopefully one day somebody like me now will watch my videos and hope they make it to that level.

      Are you wanting more of a tutorial or just an explanation of why I'm doing something that particular way. I have just been trying to keep the video somewhat short. But if you want more information I can make some different style videos just for that.

      Some longer step by step videos would be awesome! I’m just getting into leather working as a hobby so the more tutorial videos you make, the more you can help others like myself learn. I appreciate the videos, keep up the good work!

    Love the collar, is that the type of paint you have to apply heat through a towel with a iron ? ....and also your outro is Ozzy s intro...

    Very nicely done! What weight leather did you use? When you do a lined collar what weights of leather do you use for the outside and what weight for the inside? I just subscribed too!

    Awesome collar! How long have you been leather working for? It seems like a pretty relaxing and rewarding hobby.

      I've been doing leather work for a few years now. It is pretty relaxing but can also make you want to pull your hair out when you make a mistake or something doesn't work out. I love it though. It's very rewarding.

    Wow. Great work. I started doing leather craft recently because of COVID. And I also have a dog that I wanted to make a collar for. Do you have a source to by the buckles for the dog collars? I would like to make more than one?

    • @browndogleatherco8050
      @browndogleatherco8050  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually by my buckles from country brook designs. They are a little more expensive but they are high quality buckles. You can also find a good deal on ebay from time to time.

    I want to make a collar and am wondering if you need to use any sealants or stains on the inside of it

    • @browndogleatherco8050
      @browndogleatherco8050  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't usually. Most of the time I use 2 pieces of leather stitched together. It helps keep it sealed and adds a significant amount of strength. This particular collar I didn't do that. It really depends on what the customer wants.

    What weight leather did you use

  • @lilyv5770

    amazing work! what exactly tools did you use?

    • @browndogleatherco8050
      @browndogleatherco8050  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the tooling mostly tandy pro bevelers. The strap cutting I use a standard strap cutter from tandy as well. To cut the collar from the hide itself I use just a regular x-acto knife with a Z blade.
