Mate as an Aussie that owns a B7 RS4 i appreciate the fact you guys have decided and persisted with refurbishing such a neglected old weapon of a car! Its a real shame it has been left in the state it has but for you to put in the effort and not just throw away such a special car is a testament to your character and shows you appreciate how special these cars are. Well done 👌👍
How is it possible that such an informative and technically brilliant channel, run by near perfect engineering technicians has such a low following? Ah, there's something seriously wrong with the world indeed folks. Thanks so much for all your programs and the technical genius behind them gents. Kind Regards, Wade J. Goodwin, Johannesburg, South Africa
It's simple, he's not showing boob's or wearing a mini skirt. 😆 it's OK though I'm still a huge fan of this channel And definitely learn a ton of info that helps me work on my 2013 audi q7 3.0t.
You're doing a great job of describing the functioning of the engine sub-systems. The explanation of the Dry Sump/Scavenger pump functioning was well done.
First I want to say I think you're an awesome technician I enjoy how detailed your videos are, explained very well. I've been a technician for 30 years but the only thing I thought that was a little off with the RS6 video is that the torque converter snout was uncovered when you were grinding the flywheel🎉
It's just wrong that someone has paid somewhere a LOT of money to have that engine rebuilt and they've used all that silicone everywhere.. naughty that
Some people try to say there aren't bad mechanics. They say the mechanics make bad decisions. I gotta say that whoever is the clown who had theirs hands on this one should be run out of Dodge City because you have no business doing this kind of crap. Beware people, there are bad mechanics out there and they don't give a damn.
I have seen some decent builds from some street tuners, fast kids with limited budgets, porsche oldschool tigers, rally or track racing crews or mechanics working on their own cars on weekend nights and had to get cars done by the morning. Your judgement of the "bathroom grade" silicone seems also kinda weird. I remember old Renault transmission silicone being this color and it was actually the hottest stuff you could get back in 90s. Everything else would leak back then. I prefer well done and all new jobs and do them for customers always, but sometimes racing or time hurry circunstances simply dont allow hours, days or even weeks of setbacks. Your wildest dreams cant imagine what ingenious last minute tricks and solutions some cats come up with, and they are many times very effective. 🏁
It amazes me how someone can put this back together 😮 I'd forget were the first 3 screws go in couple of day's let alone hundred 😅 Rocket science build 😂
Great to see you got it fully stripped Thomas. Just £1M pounds will have it all sorted. Ricky and the boys at REPerformance will be the men to help I'm sure. Looking forward to the build series. Good to see lots of support for you.
Man I’ve gotta give credit where it’s due. The amount of work you’re doing is insane! This build is going to be amazing. Also the editing on the videos are next level! Keep smashing it 🤙🏻
I wasn't expecting this thing to be a bad as it was but you've done an amazing job of getting the damn thing apart. Looking forward to the next instalment. As some people have commented I'm guessing that Ricky is the man to sort out the oil pump.
Just found this channel, really good. Hopefully, you keep posting quality content. This channel will grow quickly if you do. Just need 1 or 2 viral videos, and you will have a very diffrent life. Good luck 👍
As someone who finds the 3.0 TDI with its packaging and chain layout scary, I always watch the V10 vids with awe coz oh gee. Great project and loved your style and that you do a lot of explaining. I d like to know more about how the oil system in the engine is routed to achieve the level of lubrication needed. Looking forward to the next episode.
With the shows you do You tap into the mechanical minds of many who watch your shows Like myself I was watching the show where you went to look on the Audi and I clean forgot to subscribe🧐🤨 but today I subscribed before making the show larger on the screen and again forget to subscribe 😎 Thanks man
Seriously wish I lived closer to you guys because I'd offer my services for free during my off time in return for the education. I'm a marine diesel engineer but modern cars are something else not just the lack of space and access 😂
RP In Swindon is the place for V10 audi hes doing them daily he seems to know how all these high horsepower work. He stripped a oil pump on his vlog not as easy to get right as you might think.
Hey! Next time when having a trouble with seazed pistons, use a mixture of Petrolium (petrolium lamp liquid) and aceton. Mix them 50:50 and pour in cylinders. Let them soak for a day. It wil even fix the stuck oil rings. Usually works on engine that has also stuck piston oil rings. Then change oil, put 98 or 100octane fuel, go for a spin and problem solved. ;) I've been a infiniti mechanic for years. Hope this tip will be useful in future!
Great Teardown Video, very informative. Shame about the condition but think positively as you aim to rebuild her with a new heart. This Engine was literally held together with Silicone 😂 wow shocking. what you are looking to achieve will be £15-£20k. Worth it.
Hardest job ever! But also the most beautiful thing bringing this back to life with the highest standards kept! Love the series! All the luck from UK/Hungary 💪🏼
Thanks! The use of silicone is just criminal - hopefully this buys you a couple of seals. All the best with the build Karl and Ricky at @reperformance can help with that oil pump 🙂
Maybe this engine was thrown back together previously as a seized lump just for insurance purposes? then the water damage? to appear more convincing, to go to all the trouble (previously), to remove and rebuild'ish, and not use new seals n gaskets and proper sealants (where specific sealant is required) this engine never ran after bodge (fake previous) rebuild. is it the original engine -production date, V5, VIN? - love your work btw.
There is a product called" XCP " which is a freeing / rust loosening spray , Better than a frequently used spray. Worth a try , may be filling the cylinders with it.
Sick engine, hope you can use the video too remember where everything was mounted on that motor, great video. Can a bbk also be "lined" with original pistons? Any heat problems after that? Alusil is a bit differently compared to iron?
Such a shame you had to go the destructive way. I mean, don't take me wrong, my 2 favourite tools are a big hammer and an angle grinder, but not on this kind of engine. It is what it is.
My sister had a s6 v10 and i loved driving it very spiritedly only thing i wish is that the transmission shifted faster. And of course it was missing the twin turbo
I have the same car and have fallen victim to a would-be auto mechanic who only takes on these cars. He got a bag of money but he wasn't happy when he traded some of the car parts for his older ones that he took off another car. Be very careful where you leave your cars. 😢
First comment (I just started watching the video) and I already cracked myself at the title "after plumber work on it" because of all that white silicone sealant lolol How about everyone that donates to you, gets their username on the car somewhere (with a sticker of course). That would be cool! I love your humor even in the face of this disaster of an engine "maybe the patient will die today" lol.
Friends mum had a diesel jag, it started knocking, so they waited until the weather was bad and drove it hard into a big flood to claim on the insurance.
Can a Nikasil block be sleeved? Sereten at M539 Restorations had a Nikasil block from a Alpina B7 sleeved and it ceased on him after he rebuilt it. Had to get a new block.
If this doesn't tell all the fan boys all you need to know about VAG cars then you are lost and blind. You do however, keep many many millions of people in work across the world.
every Audi guy knows how you treat and care for your Audi is how they will treat you in return......so if the previous owner of this legendary car ever gets another Audi it will make him pay....that being said i think ill go wash my Imola B7 RS4 and my Tornado UrS4
It’s amazing that someone would give a $140,000 car to a mechanic that would use RTV instead of replacing O-rings that properly seal fluid paths. I hate to consider the cost to rebuild this engine.
Great explanation on how a dry sump works.....cheers

My thoughts exactly

For the torque converter bolts, weld nuts on top. Loosen using those nuts. When at all loose, cut off the nut. Remove by fingers or vice grips.
That oil system is crazy. Looking forward to seeing the crank, rods and pistons. Looking forward to the build in general.

Thanks! Keep these great machines alive brother! Just picked up a 2011 Audi A6 3.0t Prestige edition and love the videos
It's just wrong that someone has paid somewhere a LOT of money to have that engine rebuilt and they've used all that silicone everywhere.. naughty that
There are so many cowboys out there. It is so difficult to find honest experts unless it's this company
@@mbrylewskior your own service company!…
You ever bought a car from Birmingham mate

One of the most talented mechanics I’ve ever seen. Love your videos man pal
This is the best channel on youtube, 100%. Thank you for your videos, they are just great - you get so much information just watching these videos. 👍
It amazes me how someone can put this back together 😮 I'd forget were the first 3 screws go in couple of day's let alone hundred 😅 Rocket science build 😂
VAG Technic, cool video it was really good
Great to see you got it fully stripped Thomas. Just £1M pounds will have it all sorted. Ricky and the boys at REPerformance will be the men to help I'm sure. Looking forward to the build series. Good to see lots of support for you.

Good technical video as always...even music is addictive 😂
What a project man, but it's worth it, tks to bring us with you, your shop and knowledge is one of a kind for sure !!!
Superb content, detailed information on how the oil pump works on the V10 thank you 🙏
Love your videos! Fingers crossed the beast is brought back!
I hate to see you go through all the pain, but i get it. A big Blue RS6 V10 would make me make some bad choices also. Good luck with the build.
Old school trick is to soak rags in atf fluid and set them alight inside the bores. Heat and the fluid should free it up.
Legendary technical infos there. Keep up the awesome work !!
Looking forward to that oil pump turning up on the next @reperformance video 🍿
massive project, you all will tackle it no doubt! keep it up 👏
A lot of time went into assembly of that with the silicone after finding it broken . Wow
Cliffhanger!! I want to see those rods and pistons.
Rick-RE performance, the only other VAG utube platform I support- you are the other
Good work from New Zealand 👌

Was waiting for this one ! Greetings from quebec, canada
What a shame for a beautiful piece of engineering to end up in that state. Can't wait to hear that monster growl again, you of all people can do it! 👊
Love your channel dude watching from down under 🇦🇺
Piastri land 🤟
Good learning opportunity for expanding the business to RS6 V10 rebuilds / 1000bhp upgrades 😇
With the shows you do
You tap into the mechanical minds of many who watch your shows
Like myself I was watching the show where you went to look on the Audi and I clean forgot to subscribe🧐🤨 but today I subscribed before making the show larger on the screen and again forget to subscribe 😎
Thanks man
keep up the good work mate cant wait to hear this beast start up
I would really see you rebuilding the motor. Good luck!
😂😂😂 the music drop at 3.47 was very good and well thought out 👋
When you've completed the work and look back at these videos you'll know the pain was worth it 1000 bhp🏎 here we come
Love your videos pal. My favourite channel 👍
Keep up the good work!
I admire your optimism
Last owner must have been a plumber 😳 Great series on the V10, subbed 😉
Seriously wish I lived closer to you guys because I'd offer my services for free during my off time in return for the education. I'm a marine diesel engineer but modern cars are something else not just the lack of space and access 😂
Keep up the good work, glad you guys decided to save this engine!
RP In Swindon is the place for V10 audi hes doing them daily he seems to know how all these high horsepower work. He stripped a oil pump on his vlog not as easy to get right as you might think.
Agree REPerformance
I will second that Ricky (@REPerfomance) is the V10 wizard. I trust him with both my RS6s V10 (old and new)
Ricky is the man
Ricky elder your refering to and y3s he’s the Audi and lambo god in the uk
This engine is now in good hands. It deserves it.
Mahle in Poland make cylinder liners to order at a good price.

I wish you are right with the price 😂👌
So, wait. Were the pistons siezed, or the bearings? Did I miss that or skim over it?
the stuff looks like grey elring dirko silicone, good stuff but hack job on this engine
Man you've got work to-do i hope you get it done for xmas
This is AMAZING content :) Keep going!
What a beast engine it is 🔥
Absolute legend!!!🚗👍
Hardest job ever! But also the most beautiful thing bringing this back to life with the highest standards kept! Love the series! All the luck from UK/Hungary 💪🏼

✅✅✅✅✅
OMG, I am speechless. Look at the state of those cylinders !!!!! Can this engine be saved never mind reaching 1000 bhp
Top of the mountain lol love the way you speak 😂
One word: carnage!
The left bank head has a more red tint compared to the right. Still, both tops look pretty clean for a 2008. Good luck with the findings
Took the words out of my mouth, looks like it might have one head at some point
It's very interesting. Keep those videos coming my dude :)
Köszönjük!
Is that simply white RTV and not bathroom sealant? ThreeBond make exactly that and it’s a good product.
Tack!
Keep up the good work!
Man you need to come to Australia there is a lot of Audis need rebuild here and none of them mechanics want to do it 😵💫
Look at the size of that crank!
There is a product called" XCP " which is a freeing / rust loosening spray , Better than a frequently used spray. Worth a try , may be filling the cylinders with it.
Another educational & entertaining video. Does that motor belong to the car or did they do a motor swap ?
Nice easy fix
Tack!
Sick engine, hope you can use the video too remember where everything was mounted on that motor, great video. Can a bbk also be "lined" with original pistons? Any heat problems after that? Alusil is a bit differently compared to iron?
Difference in varnish from bank to bank can be down to the way the PCV system works, have certainly seen that on older 90's 2000's Audi V6 and V8's
I was here to see you unseize the engine but then when that didn't happen, I just fast forwarded the rest.
I can’t decide if it is surprising or unsurprising that so many people are dishonest about the state of cars when they sell them. Sad really.
not sure the last sap to own it had any idea about how bad the carnage was....
As always brilliant content
Great video thanks. I wonder if the Audi Main Dealer would be able to strip down and rebuild like you do ? Cheers
just incredible work...what was the cause of the crankshaft not turning? Were the pistons just completely stuck in the cylinders?
Such a shame you had to go the destructive way. I mean, don't take me wrong, my 2 favourite tools are a big hammer and an angle grinder, but not on this kind of engine. It is what it is.
My sister had a s6 v10 and i loved driving it very spiritedly only thing i wish is that the transmission shifted faster. And of course it was missing the twin turbo
Thanks!
svaka čast
Never mind welding the flywheel, just use some silicone like the previous guy🤣
The guy who sold you has dodged a major bullet. Imagine the cost already, just to get to this point.
I have the same car and have fallen victim to a would-be auto mechanic who only takes on these cars. He got a bag of money but he wasn't happy when he traded some of the car parts for his older ones that he took off another car. Be very careful where you leave your cars. 😢

What was the number plate? Asking for a mate
Maybe they thought if they sealed everything up with bathroom silicone they could take that bad boy underwater..... 🤦♂️
Love these videos ❤
Is that torque converter bent?
Can a Nikasil block be sleeved? Sereten at M539 Restorations had a Nikasil block from a Alpina B7 sleeved and it ceased on him after he rebuilt it. Had to get a new block.

If you’re rebuilding the engine it’s not that bad. Heat is your friend
every Audi guy knows how you treat and care for your Audi is how they will treat you in return......so if the previous owner of this legendary car ever gets another Audi it will make him pay....that being said i think ill go wash my Imola B7 RS4 and my Tornado UrS4
Will you be upgrading the rear differential

The liners, arent they soecially coated liners?
Can the replaced liners be coated like this again?
