And that’s the last video from amazing Penang! We absolutely loved living here for 6 weeks and I can’t wait to get back there one day. In the next video we’re heading over to another very famous Malaysian island… Can you guess which one?
Another great video in my hometown penang! Keep it up guys and I think u all are off to langkawi from Penang. I suggest u all go Koh lipe Thailand from a ferry boat ride from langkawi. Koh lipe is gorgeous
I agree with your summary of Penang. I spent a month there in 2019. One added bonus is the cost of medical and dental care. I had a very thorough medical completed in one day, with a detailed summary on disc . I had extensive dental work over a few weeks, that was extremely professional at about 25-33% of the cost in the US. Professionalism was very high....and the cost was very low. I loved the island, and will consider Penang as a long term retirement destination. I have traveled to over 120 countries since 1985 , first visiting Penang in 1987, and again in 1997. Stay safe.
Hai sir rayan enjoy your vacation but I thing this video it's not last month ago I thing it was long time ago sir because now it's all lock down right I guesst so but enjoy your vacation together your couple of your friends sir rayan
The art scene is so cool! Good call giving the Hin Bus depot it's own segment. so nice and great vibes! The boat trip is a nice way to see all the coast line. The habitat tree top walk views are nice as! We have heard the food is one of the best in Malaysia which is why we really want to visit too. Omg another man united fan hahah but looks like a nice guy!
The street art from Georgetown looks incredible! I could spend so much time walking around looking at the street art and also admiring the colorful buildings. Turtle beach looks so beautiful, so serene. The food looks so delicious! Reminds me of my trip to mainland Malaysia, the lasi lemak and the laksa were to die for.
By a country mile the best thing on Penang I have seen and I've been looking for a while. I'm really excited to see this place now. Thank you so much that was so good im going to do everything you suggested. Im actually going to spend less time in Langkawi to do so.
That hidden bus depot looks super awesome. I really love community spaces like that, which should exist more around the world. I remember going on family holidays to the Golden Sands Resort in Batu Feringghi when I was a kid. Never been to the Habitat though, which looks really cool. Coincidentally, I made nasi lemak for a dinner party last night!! That's a great list of food to start with, but one DEFINITE MUST EAT you missed out is Char Kuey Teow noodles... 😋 I think that might be the first thing many Malaysians get when they're in Penang.
Ryan, on the 8th day of Chinese New Year, the penangnites celebrate PaiTheeKong, where the celebration is even more boisterous than the first day of Chinese New Year. On that day, Georgetown explodes with fireworks and firecrackers. The area around clan jetty gets super packed and the atmosphere is unbelievable. And also don’t miss out thaipusam celebrations, it’s an eye opening experience.
Thank you for your video. We are stopping in Penang for 3 days before we continue to Langlawi. You have given us a real flavour of Penang and some great tips for a starting point. Did you go to the spice farm by any chance?
Agreed. And our capable chief minister said that our factories in the industrial zones can be used to manufacture supplies needed for the pandemic 😷🙏❤ This is good governance 🙏🙏
I plan to return to Malaysia later this year. First visited Penang in 2005 and sadly like many places in my opinion is over run with foreigners. The biggest difference i would have to say is the quality of foreigners is better there than Thailand.
@@OneShotAdventures I was just looking at the guesthouse and hotel prices there compared to when i was last there about eight years ago. The prices have soared. Georgetown rooms used to be about 10% higher than in Thailand. From what i see listed now dorm rooms where i refuse to stay work out to about $20 a night at the cheapest place. Not that long ago Georgetown had very few foreigners. But true there are areas of the island itself you can get away from the masses. Sadly Georgetown like some places in Thailand is now crossed off my list. Personally i find no fun in following the masses it just ruins the experience. Having said that i still enjoy watching your channel it is better than most.
@@destinationsroadslesstraveled Oh yeah I'm sure prices have soared in 8 years. There are places on the outskirts of Georgetown that you might enjoy seeing. We stayed in Jelutong, where tourists are pretty few and far between. But you may be better off looking in the south of the island, most tourists stay in the North
I actually don't remember the cost (it was over a year ago now), but I don't think it was too expensive. But then again, we split the cost between three people 😊
@@MegaJunali I ate on the street almost every day and never had problems - admittedly I have a fairly strong stomach. But I think Malaysia is one of the better/cleaner places for street food in Asia
Are you still in Malaysia? Did you notice that the country is still in operation even without a full fledged government? A testament to our British legacy Civil Service...
The traffic in Georgetown is as bad as Bangkok, only on smaller streets. The screaming from the mosques five times a days will give you a headache. The Sea Water at Batu stinks as it is an open sewer, Batu Ferringi means Area of Foreigners, a tourist trap. Turtle Beach was once called Monkey Beach and I got stung by a HUGE jellyfish there as that is a serious problem around Penang Beaches due to the local people throwing rubbish in as if it was a rubbish dump. I lived there decades ago when it truly was the Pearl of the Orient, alas, no more, though the food is still some of THE best in all of South East Asia and thankfully this tourist didnt find any of my favourite local places.

I got some travel vaccinations in Penang and completely agree about the quality of care. Very professional and low cost.
As a Malaysian from Sabah, I never visit Penang and your video make me so looking forward to visit Penang.
Thank you - Penang is great!
Bro damn, your making it hard for me to choose, go back to koh phangan or here, looks amazing, keep up the videos
Thanks man. Penang is very different from Phangnan. Much more big city than quiet hippy vibes 😊
Love Penang, especially their food😋 we can just go there to eat
Yessss! The food is unreal

You are 100% right about the Char Kuey Teow noodles! Delicious - I just wanted to keep it down to my top 3 ;) Now I want to try your Nasi Lemak...
Your video is superb ✌️💞

wow that beach looks so pristine and wild! I'd love to visit it! 🤩 the food looks so similar to the indonesian food, it has to be so delicious 😍
Yes, there are a few similarities in the food :)

Penang tak dak surat kunin habaq nak bagi tender kat sapa
We went there April 2019, the wheather was very very hot and it was hard to walked because no good sidewalk there.

I actually disagree about it being overrun by tourists. Yes the old town of Georgetown is, but there are many local/less busy places to visit

I surely must visit both beaches & the canopy walk
Was the boat trip between the beaches expensive

strangely enough, I love watching foreigners talking about my home town

Straits Garden Suites 😊

I have said it many times: most of the street art here(and in other parts of Malaysia) is awful and inappropriate. It's a real eyesore.
I personally think that 90% of the street art in Penang is nicely done
