I really like the siege changes. I don't really like the idea of tower lord's hp going up at all. Being able to sneak a kill on the tower lord is about the only thing you can do when the enemy zerg out numbers you. My guild is almost always outnumbered by a lot (usually 2:1 at a minimum) so playing the map strategically and stealing towers before the enemy zerg can catch us is about the only thing we can do. Increasing tower lord hp to SMC levels would destroy any hope of playing the game for us.
and it's good - people will finally start playing group competitive content (real wvw) and not "wvw version of pvp" (about 5 mans groups which really should play unranked pvp)
It wouldn't matter coz these "fight guilds" will just jump at you with 50 before you can do anything like how these two jumped at you for being a roamer. Roy will continue to lick their ass to keep the boonball rollin'.
Absolutely!! All that roamers and smaller groups can really do is flip towers and camps. And perhaps sneak a keep or two when no-one's looking. That will be much harder now. It seems they want to discourage roaming and soloing and get people to play in bigger squads mostly since the HP increase won't really affect them. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Honestly the blueprint changes can be good, especially for the wvw veterans. Less things to keep into the bags, and more free space for them. But the tower guards HP going up, not so good idea. I feel like the towers are meant to be taken by smaller groups at the end of the day, really. I mean, have you seen the size of zergs going on taking places over and over 😂!? I think it adds a bit to the fun and speed of things, so maybe it would be better if they leave that as it is. At any case, thanks a ton for the summary video Muk ^^!!
Yep, seconding this. I get wanting to give defenders the ability to... defend... but I agree that this kind cuts off the 'five people ad hoc running around capping some T0 towers' because it's now going to take them quite a while to grind through all that HP. Maybe some kind of scaling? But then that gets into the problem of squads meta-gaming the thing like "Alright, 7.3 people need to go kill the Lord while the rest of us stand 1200 range off the walls of the Tower because 7.59 people within range double the Lord's health." Although there's an argument that it'd be just as fast to mob down the Lord with a full zerg. 😕 Balance isn't easy.
Dropping the rewards based upon timezones will penalise players on poorly populated servers active outside those times. A number of servers are already struggling to get adequate player numbers during the peak hours for balanced fights. It gets much worse with the big drop off outside those times. Dropping the rewards will just make things worse.

I don't like the VP change - because so far the population has been hilariously unbalanced. Being steamrolled by two blobs on all maps for 2-4h in the evening is no fun. But until now you could claw back some points by being agressive in the afternoon/night.
If you're 1st during the 3 big prime time and 3rd during the rest, you would get 138pts. If you're 3rd during the 3 big prime time, but 1st during the rest, you would get 142pts. If you're 2nd all day long, you would get 140pts. Being consistently in the top is slightly more important than being in the top during the 3 big prime time and having nobody in your server for the rest.
Demolishers stats being added FINALLY that makes me happy, now hoping the rest of the video is good news…. EDIT: They really don’t like roamers you can see that over the years, goodluck soloing towers or take 2 hours for a group under 7 to flip a tower, also Zerg fights in towers will last ages.
Basically what this change will do is: Ppl go into W v W. Red team is a WVW team with a full zerg running the map. You log in as green and stand at the starting area to see if you can muster up a similar number of people while you eat your pizza and waste your time because there is nothing you can do until then as a small group. Heaven forbid there's no one that tags as a commander. Might was well log off and go to bed. Bad changes. IMO.
Participation change was needed. I've been crying about it for years. 'Cause if you're on the losing side, you have to abandon the squad and roam to get participation. It was so bad sometimes that I'd drop from T6 to T2 despite constantly fighting people. When I was working on my legendary armor, I started to just afk farm camps & dolyaks because it was the only guarantee that I would maintain T6 participation. It was the worst experience I've ever had in GW2 and it actually made me quit for a year afterwards. The new siege update is great too. Nobody uses low tier siege. I've always just deleted mine. They're not even worth putting on the trading post.

It's so annoying that you actively engage in enemies, but if you die, you get no participation and have to go run to a camp or something to make up for it. Like what is the point of even fighting unless you're in a roaming mob? At least have participation go up a tiny bit if you die. So it can't be abused but you aren't punished for sucking.
WvW Scoring Updates for AUS timezone on NA server: (This is QLD timezone, so add an hour for daylight savings states) 11am - 33 1pm - 33 3pm - 21 5pm - 9 7pm - 9 9pm - 9 11pm - 13 1am - 13 3am - 13 5am - 13 7am - 13 9am - 21 So basically we'd have to play during 9am - 3pm (during school/work/day hours) and our prime hours (5pm - 9pm) are the lowest weighted.
I am in the NA, but I work nightshift hours. So my best active time is literally with the Aussies and it pisses me off to no end that they the WvW team thinks this is fine. They really are only catering to a select few, and themselves, at this point.. as I keep calling the 'wvw balance team' just a bunch of stupid modders who should never been given this important position. They do not have the professionalism to NOT be biased. Grave Diggers on Sanctum of Rall were my lifesavers for enjoying the mode... Miss them.
They don't work seriously in WvW, they just create problems and stuff from air and then they tell you this is a WvW update, what nonsense. What's next, a big update that will be going to be a color change for supply caravans or lord will be dancing Macarena? Maybe something even more stupid than this, My level of disappointment increases more and more with every WvW update.
You'd hope Roy would know that Marked does reveal stealthed players, given he's leading WvW balance. I guess it does it in a convoluted way though: Marked applies Detected!, which applies Revealed after 2 seconds. Thing is, Roy wouldn't know any of that because he spends his time in a boon ball and doesn't have to think about other playstyles, which is why every balance change for the last few years is made from the perspective of a boon ball commander.

I don't understand two of those changes. Why reward people more for playing during peak hours? I specifically avoid playing during peak hours because maps are always queued and I have no interest in waiting around for a wvw pop 40 mins after I click the button. The tower and keep health thing also seems anti-roamer. Keeps maybe make sense cause they are pretty easy to kill atm, but towers are meant to be easy. If a 5 man squad struggles on a tower I think that's a bad experience.
I can see two reasons for higher scores during peak hours. For one, it evens out the score per player, so players who avoid prime time don't have a disproportional impact on the overall score compared to prime-time players. Second, they probably try to "lure" dedicated players into the prime-time slots to battle it out, which would leave the low-score times slots for people who just want to get a few achievements done without having to join and/or avoid blobs.
About the Tower and Keep Health, I think Roamers have no business taking anything behind a wall. The moment Siege Equip is part of the equation, that is no longer roaming. However, I do think that the difficulty of Guards in general should reflect the Score, meaning there should be a Buff to Guards that becomes stronger during peak hours and lower during off-times.
@@Ryuichiro13 What achievements are you going to get done when you need to attack a tower with a group large enough to kill a SMC boss which means blobs running the map in huge groups and cutting out roamers. A few Doylaks and some rune capturing ? It means that running around in smaller groups is useless. Not everyone wants to have fights in tight little balls of 50+ ppl stacked on top of each other like they're chained at the hip.
@ Completely disagree. A roaming squad should be able to hit towers. That’s the whole point, to be a small squad separate from the blob that can take smaller targets while the enemy is focused on the blob. This change is just pushing only blob gameplay and that’s lame.
@@jrafel1707 If no Blob is around (Which is my assumption during off-times) you can still take towers and castles like before, they only increased the health not the damage so it just takes a bit longer. As they said, this is to slow down the flip time not increase the power requirement to flip.
With the Yak respawn changing.. I wonder if they considered the fact that less supply will get to keeps since less yaks spawning. Also sucks for people that want easy gift of battle just doing escorts to keep participation up.
Tbf my prime time queues are always around 25 on EBG and 10ish on the BL’s. They clear up pretty quickly in my experience. Recently came back after two years, I can vividly remember queues reaching as high as 70+ during prime time back then, and it usually meant if you wasn’t first in, you wasn’t getting any content that night. Of course, my experience is only anecdotal and will differ from team to team.
Yeah, I completely misunderstood this one until I got to the comments because it just seemed so glaringly obvious that incentivizing everyone to only and always concentrate around specific peak times to play is literally the opposite of what you want to do. It's like a city announcing reduced tolls on busy roads and bridges, but only at times with peak commuter traffic. If anything, it'd make sense to specifically do the exact opposite: incentivize playing off-peak to help keep populations up at those times, while also maybe helping to reduce queues at busy times. Either way, as a WvW hater, I'm loving this update because it seems to be making other people hate it even more. And maybe if enough people hate it, they'll get rid of it...and give us PvE ways to get a GoB, which is the only reason I ever go into WvW.

who'd of thunk it that reducing the damage required to get through a wall would have made it quicker to take a tower........ I also see that the oceanic players are now gonna get even more screwed with doing WvW as their peak times are not in the same time as US, so they now will take longer to do their reward tracks and I'm not sure how it will (if at all) affect their ability to the legendary armour.
100 % You are right this whole update for WVW has discouraged me and my friends from entering this mode. It used to be that you could just spend games and make a transfer to play together, but now you have to wait a month another problem is that the new system has made the fights even more unbalanced
5:07 I kinda agree with it bc I was thinking about the thief/mesmer or other possible classes' exploit. I heard the rumor about the wvw team can't really fix the exploit things bc it creates more bugs once they try to do so, and that's why they tend to leave the exploit bug there. I was thinking about making the lords to have wall/gate buffs, so that it becomes unworthy/too risky to exploit them. However, I realized the walls/gates can be repaired, and suddenly I don't know how to do with the wall/gate buffs lol. And I guess that's why they didn't do what I thought ;3 Buffing the hp of Lords might be the best way so far, and my mountless free acc necro can be benefited as well ;D
@@methanbreather My friend said "remove those classes!" lol Joke aside, not only about the porting spells, some lifting spells seem to have a similar effect, like some sword spells on certain classes and memsmer underwater spells, as well as thief's staff. There is a vid showing how to use a golem to enter an object without breaking it as well. So it is not that easy to solve by only adjust porting spells ;)
The point of the change is to make dolyaks more "important", i.e. make there be more incentive both to kill them and to protect them. Generally right now people ignore them unless they need it for achievements/weekly or cheap participation. Now they will be be actually part of the strategy.
What about balancing servers? I have also issue to change server to play with friends and have to wait another month. Lets see if i can join them after this one
I’m excited for anything wvw but as someone who started crafting secrets obscure legendaries I’m excited about the new convergence I got to where I enjoy playing it when I can catch the event… a lot of the time I forget to check the time and convergence already over but now we have convergence every 1.5 hour so it’s plenty more time to grind
The tower and keep lords HP changes are dumb and discriminate against roamers/small groups. The solution should have been simple, we already have this in PvE. Just make it scale: If the player(s) attacking the tower/keep lord are like 1-3 ppl, don't change the HP of these lords, but if there's a 30-man zerg attacking the lord, then make it have SMC Lord's HP. For the numbers in between, just scale the HP accordingly. smh.
but you don't get the point of the change, they don't want zerg to take longer, they want everybody to take longer to capture the tower, so roamers also, because they want defenders to have time to come and defend, not just to have it constantly flip without fight. Roamers can still take the tower, they just increased the health not dmg, it will just take longer. I personally think that people make it to be a bigger deal than it actually is, I don't think it will change much.
@@LatherSk Mate a group of 1-3 people would *already* take long to flip a tower even now, with plenty of time for defenders to come and defend, and it certainly won't flip constantly without a fight. This just makes it pretty much impossible for those kinds of group (1-3 players) to take a tower before getting killed by the defenders.

So what’s the plan? Buy a shitload of cheap blueprints now and convert them later? What does this do with scribing? This was the only way to make these prints before and it was quite expensive. What about the marks of honor? You had to exchange those in your guildhall?
They really need to update Seasons of dragons return to achievements its a desperately horrible experience in the season 4 maps Thunderhead peaks completely dead almost im impossible to complete the oil flows achievement.
A way for PvE players to earn a gift of battle, and a way for WvW players to get gift of exploration. PvE players could buy it for LI. WvW could be a new reward track.
Yeah but i feel like it is necessary to keep a way to attract people to WvW, a more niche mode. Personnaly, 7yrs ago i wanted to make a legendary backpack thus i looked it up. The easiest one was the sPvP one. Therefore i started playing sPvP. After that, i also farmed ranks then made the sPvP legendary armor and im finishing legendary trinkets. I never left. To this day i still actively play ranket sPvP. If there was no exclusive content in this mode, i would've never played it in the first place !

They did say these were 'proposed' changes, not changes that 'will' happen. If you voice your opinion on why they shouldn't change the victory points, there's a good chance that change won't be implemented.
If you're work is during prime time , and you play during off times, (Or someone who is only available to play early am or late at night), Not only will you get less points, but it will be even harder to take keeps and towers with less people on and increases strength of the Lords if they have the same strength as the smc lord.
Speaking of the new stat, is there a video that goes into depth of every stat combination and where they can be used to its better effect? I have been playing since HoT and still have basic understanding of them, don't judge me, for me only berserkers exist. Help.
how do we scribe the new siege ? it needed the tier 1 catapult blue print for example , to scribe the guild catapult ( gold catapult) .i guess i shall go to the guild hall and look /shrug and the GUILD HALLS require catapults an trebuche to build the world vs world abilities an tower inside guild hall ? was blue catapults 75 of them interesting problems , looking forward to the wvw patch as im a Commander for EMU guild alliance

I agree, game will stay unplayable until they nerf warrior. If by server balance you mean team balance, then I disagree, they are all equal under the sun.

I gotta say wvw has never been worse to get into. It's only good if you are already a vet in a well established guild. I can't see any new players seriously wanting to join this going forward. It's a shame cause much of the core has been lost. I like that they are making changes and such but yeah, I think it's missing the mark.
Its such annoying design to make each type of siege an individual gizmo. Its tomes all over again. Just stuff to take up more inventory space. Just make it one item that adds seige to the skill bar and you can press 1-10 for whichever you want to place.
I really like that they're throwing optimisations into World vs World. It is such a low-population mode, yet they're doing great things to improve it. Fantastic stuff. I am all for buffing defensive gameplay. Whenever I take a foray into the Mists for a Gift of Battle, the main thing that irks me is flipping. I do not like running around constantly flipping camps/towers/keeps. I really, REALLY enjoy defensive gameplay with repelling enemy attacks (I used to command in Aion sieges back when they were 2h long. Defending a fortress against sieging enemies for 2h was PEAK siege gameplay to me) so I am really looking forward to jumping into WvW again if these changes go live to attack AND defend! It is a crapshoot mode, it isn't as popular because PVP in general is more niche than you think. Forced to play vs enjoying it are 2 very different things. They've been trying much harder to incentivize that to try and look good for the 4th quarter.. so their little project of self-benefiting+friends can keep going. Remove the forced requirement and those wvw population numbers will show a much starker contrast.

Both PvP communities are incredibly elitist and hostile towards more casual players. More often than not I have seen WvW diehards trashing PvE players (like myself, though Idc about elitist nobodies in the PvP modes but others will) during WvW EXP events (like the one that dropped today). It is disgusting, if we're being frank, and something the community needs to work on. Thankfully, there are some lovely people that welcome the casuals farming their Gifts of Battle, which saves the experience occasionally.
@7:05 the marked debuff is the same debuff that sentries give in WvW (and also the same debuff that the watchtower passive tactic gives enemies near towers, and the same debuff that keeps give to enemies for 5 minutes after flipping) -- this debuff applies reveal to anyone who stealths for more than 1 second. So yes, it will knock enemies out of stealth. Love having inventory items counter entire playstyles/builds/elite-specs :^) Sure can't wait to have the anti-ranger or anti-guardian items added to WvW too Ahh shoot, I forgot... it's just thief that gets shafted by these things, nvm
@@ArmoredSarge It's actually 2 seconds, you can confirm by either the wiki or the game BUT it punishes you if you use skills with 2 second durations, the only safe skills are the ones with 1 second duration (or if there's any with fractions of a second between 1 and 2) ie: deadeye rifle dodgeroll. (The fun part about this is that 2-second duration skills are random whether or not they reveal you if you let their duration expire, usually it does trigger, but sometimes randomly the skill will expire before the check instead and you wont' get revealed - but in general these skills are not safe to use while Marked if you don't want to get revealed)
How about making an extra map or 2 for WVW, instead of shitting on roamers all the time. The population balance is disgusting atm. but oh well let's ignore the real problems as usual. worst set of Devs in any game at the moment in my opinion.
What i don't like about wvw is the fact they are still charging 1,800 gems to go back to servers when those servers don't exist they are actually ripping off gw2 players.

These changes do nothing help the under populated servers 5 vs 20 and more health on a tower lord is plain up b.s. Towers getting flipped to fast is laughable of course they get flipped fast to the boon blob. They need to address the blob game play permanent boons small group can not even touch the 20+ blob running around. Remove boons from WvW would change a lot. Addressing one shot builds being vaporized in 3 seconds is not interesting at all let alone these builds running inside a boon blob.
Too many people crying too much about the tower lord hp, but lets be real, WVW was not made for the solo player that wants to solo kill an NPC, we have pve for that. The changes proposed are meant to "force" people into playing as a group. You can find guilds at almost any time zone, and there are many small guilds that can never grow in numbers despite the server being full, because of pve players invading wvw without actually using it for group content, i am really looking forward to those people coming to join others in guilds to have a much better experience all round.
Timezones and server population balances would suggest otherwise... Though I guess if one does not play outside of reset prime NA or EU timezones, they wouldn't understand
Dunno why they put so much effort into WvW when most ppl just use it to get a GoB. Rather I guess I should question why they dont make the maps better to play on. They all feel extremely boring? Its just flipping areas and avoiding fights as long as possible.
I would be inclined to agree, but I cant even find groups to join at times where there are Q's on every single WvW map, and I believe it comes down to there being a bunch of guilds making private squads.

Good changes but you can still port/jump in near every keep/tower with certain classes. They should fix that first.

Basically what this change will do is: Ppl go into W v W. Red team is a WVW team with a full zerg running the map. You log in as green and stand at the starting area to see if you can muster up a similar number of people while you eat your pizza and waste your time because there is nothing you can do until then as a small group. Heaven forbid there's no one that tags as a commander. Might was well log off and go to bed. Bad changes. IMO.
Participation change was needed. I've been crying about it for years. 'Cause if you're on the losing side, you have to abandon the squad and roam to get participation. It was so bad sometimes that I'd drop from T6 to T2 despite constantly fighting people. When I was working on my legendary armor, I started to just afk farm camps & dolyaks because it was the only guarantee that I would maintain T6 participation. It was the worst experience I've ever had in GW2 and it actually made me quit for a year afterwards. The new siege update is great too. Nobody uses low tier siege. I've always just deleted mine. They're not even worth putting on the trading post.

It's so annoying that you actively engage in enemies, but if you die, you get no participation and have to go run to a camp or something to make up for it. Like what is the point of even fighting unless you're in a roaming mob? At least have participation go up a tiny bit if you die. So it can't be abused but you aren't punished for sucking.
Kinda looks like those changes are again specifically tailored for zerg gameplay. I like the changes to siege but the rest, I dunno.

I am in the NA, but I work nightshift hours. So my best active time is literally with the Aussies and it pisses me off to no end that they the WvW team thinks this is fine. They really are only catering to a select few, and themselves, at this point.. as I keep calling the 'wvw balance team' just a bunch of stupid modders who should never been given this important position. They do not have the professionalism to NOT be biased.
Grave Diggers on Sanctum of Rall were my lifesavers for enjoying the mode... Miss them.
Kinda sucks for us, but I guess I can play mornings with my new schedule.
They don't work seriously in WvW, they just create problems and stuff from air and then they tell you this is a WvW update, what nonsense.
What's next, a big update that will be going to be a color change for supply caravans or lord will be dancing Macarena? Maybe something even more stupid than this, My level of disappointment increases more and more with every WvW update.

You'd hope Roy would know that Marked does reveal stealthed players, given he's leading WvW balance. I guess it does it in a convoluted way though: Marked applies Detected!, which applies Revealed after 2 seconds.
Thing is, Roy wouldn't know any of that because he spends his time in a boon ball and doesn't have to think about other playstyles, which is why every balance change for the last few years is made from the perspective of a boon ball commander.
I thought he was just being evasive, like, he def knows, but doesnt want to stir the pot (even more)

I don't understand two of those changes. Why reward people more for playing during peak hours? I specifically avoid playing during peak hours because maps are always queued and I have no interest in waiting around for a wvw pop 40 mins after I click the button. The tower and keep health thing also seems anti-roamer. Keeps maybe make sense cause they are pretty easy to kill atm, but towers are meant to be easy. If a 5 man squad struggles on a tower I think that's a bad experience.
I can see two reasons for higher scores during peak hours. For one, it evens out the score per player, so players who avoid prime time don't have a disproportional impact on the overall score compared to prime-time players. Second, they probably try to "lure" dedicated players into the prime-time slots to battle it out, which would leave the low-score times slots for people who just want to get a few achievements done without having to join and/or avoid blobs.
About the Tower and Keep Health, I think Roamers have no business taking anything behind a wall. The moment Siege Equip is part of the equation, that is no longer roaming.
However, I do think that the difficulty of Guards in general should reflect the Score, meaning there should be a Buff to Guards that becomes stronger during peak hours and lower during off-times.
@@Ryuichiro13 What achievements are you going to get done when you need to attack a tower with a group large enough to kill a SMC boss which means blobs running the map in huge groups and cutting out roamers. A few Doylaks and some rune capturing ? It means that running around in smaller groups is useless. Not everyone wants to have fights in tight little balls of 50+ ppl stacked on top of each other like they're chained at the hip.
@ Completely disagree. A roaming squad should be able to hit towers. That’s the whole point, to be a small squad separate from the blob that can take smaller targets while the enemy is focused on the blob. This change is just pushing only blob gameplay and that’s lame.
@@jrafel1707 If no Blob is around (Which is my assumption during off-times) you can still take towers and castles like before, they only increased the health not the damage so it just takes a bit longer. As they said, this is to slow down the flip time not increase the power requirement to flip.
Stonemist lord takes ages to kill even on a day when the defending team is practically nonexistent. It definitely feels like more than double, that.
With the Yak respawn changing.. I wonder if they considered the fact that less supply will get to keeps since less yaks spawning. Also sucks for people that want easy gift of battle just doing escorts to keep participation up.

Tbf my prime time queues are always around 25 on EBG and 10ish on the BL’s. They clear up pretty quickly in my experience.
Recently came back after two years, I can vividly remember queues reaching as high as 70+ during prime time back then, and it usually meant if you wasn’t first in, you wasn’t getting any content that night.
Of course, my experience is only anecdotal and will differ from team to team.
Yeah, I completely misunderstood this one until I got to the comments because it just seemed so glaringly obvious that incentivizing everyone to only and always concentrate around specific peak times to play is literally the opposite of what you want to do. It's like a city announcing reduced tolls on busy roads and bridges, but only at times with peak commuter traffic.
If anything, it'd make sense to specifically do the exact opposite: incentivize playing off-peak to help keep populations up at those times, while also maybe helping to reduce queues at busy times.
Either way, as a WvW hater, I'm loving this update because it seems to be making other people hate it even more. And maybe if enough people hate it, they'll get rid of it...and give us PvE ways to get a GoB, which is the only reason I ever go into WvW.

who'd of thunk it that reducing the damage required to get through a wall would have made it quicker to take a tower........ I also see that the oceanic players are now gonna get even more screwed with doing WvW as their peak times are not in the same time as US, so they now will take longer to do their reward tracks and I'm not sure how it will (if at all) affect their ability to the legendary armour.
It's wonderful that Demo can now be used in WvW and open world. I'm currently using it in a Spellbreaker build and it's been a delight.
All this just to ignore the most glaring issue with wvw right now: server balancing.
100 % You are right this whole update for WVW has discouraged me and my friends from entering this mode.
It used to be that you could just spend games and make a transfer to play together, but now you have to wait a month another problem is that the new system has made the fights even more unbalanced

5:07 I kinda agree with it bc I was thinking about the thief/mesmer or other possible classes' exploit. I heard the rumor about the wvw team can't really fix the exploit things bc it creates more bugs once they try to do so, and that's why they tend to leave the exploit bug there. I was thinking about making the lords to have wall/gate buffs, so that it becomes unworthy/too risky to exploit them. However, I realized the walls/gates can be repaired, and suddenly I don't know how to do with the wall/gate buffs lol. And I guess that's why they didn't do what I thought ;3 Buffing the hp of Lords might be the best way so far, and my mountless free acc necro can be benefited as well ;D
easy fix: reduce range on all the porting skills. Problem solved.
@@methanbreather My friend said "remove those classes!" lol Joke aside, not only about the porting spells, some lifting spells seem to have a similar effect, like some sword spells on certain classes and memsmer underwater spells, as well as thief's staff. There is a vid showing how to use a golem to enter an object without breaking it as well. So it is not that easy to solve by only adjust porting spells ;)
So dolyaks get slowed down but upgrades take less of them which speeds things up, so those changes are totally pointless as they counter eachother 🤦♂

The point of the change is to make dolyaks more "important", i.e. make there be more incentive both to kill them and to protect them. Generally right now people ignore them unless they need it for achievements/weekly or cheap participation. Now they will be be actually part of the strategy.
What about balancing servers? I have also issue to change server to play with friends and have to wait another month. Lets see if i can join them after this one

I’m excited for anything wvw but as someone who started crafting secrets obscure legendaries I’m excited about the new convergence I got to where I enjoy playing it when I can catch the event… a lot of the time I forget to check the time and convergence already over but now we have convergence every 1.5 hour so it’s plenty more time to grind
The tower and keep lords HP changes are dumb and discriminate against roamers/small groups. The solution should have been simple, we already have this in PvE. Just make it scale: If the player(s) attacking the tower/keep lord are like 1-3 ppl, don't change the HP of these lords, but if there's a 30-man zerg attacking the lord, then make it have SMC Lord's HP. For the numbers in between, just scale the HP accordingly. smh.

but you don't get the point of the change, they don't want zerg to take longer, they want everybody to take longer to capture the tower, so roamers also, because they want defenders to have time to come and defend, not just to have it constantly flip without fight. Roamers can still take the tower, they just increased the health not dmg, it will just take longer. I personally think that people make it to be a bigger deal than it actually is, I don't think it will change much.

@@LatherSk Mate a group of 1-3 people would *already* take long to flip a tower even now, with plenty of time for defenders to come and defend, and it certainly won't flip constantly without a fight. This just makes it pretty much impossible for those kinds of group (1-3 players) to take a tower before getting killed by the defenders.

Demolisher stat can definitely be used in Raids where the Toughness stat is what decides who tanks. Will make "speed running" Raids even faster.

Yeah but i feel like it is necessary to keep a way to attract people to WvW, a more niche mode. Personnaly, 7yrs ago i wanted to make a legendary backpack thus i looked it up. The easiest one was the sPvP one. Therefore i started playing sPvP. After that, i also farmed ranks then made the sPvP legendary armor and im finishing legendary trinkets. I never left. To this day i still actively play ranket sPvP. If there was no exclusive content in this mode, i would've never played it in the first place !

They did say these were 'proposed' changes, not changes that 'will' happen. If you voice your opinion on why they shouldn't change the victory points, there's a good chance that change won't be implemented.
Yeh seems to be extra painful on NA, our prime time is their lowest weighted time. on EU it is atleast a middle ground area.
If you're work is during prime time , and you play during off times, (Or someone who is only available to play early am or late at night), Not only will you get less points, but it will be even harder to take keeps and towers with less people on and increases strength of the Lords if they have the same strength as the smc lord.

I gotta say wvw has never been worse to get into. It's only good if you are already a vet in a well established guild. I can't see any new players seriously wanting to join this going forward. It's a shame cause much of the core has been lost. I like that they are making changes and such but yeah, I think it's missing the mark.

Its such annoying design to make each type of siege an individual gizmo. Its tomes all over again. Just stuff to take up more inventory space. Just make it one item that adds seige to the skill bar and you can press 1-10 for whichever you want to place.
I really like that they're throwing optimisations into World vs World. It is such a low-population mode, yet they're doing great things to improve it. Fantastic stuff.
I am all for buffing defensive gameplay. Whenever I take a foray into the Mists for a Gift of Battle, the main thing that irks me is flipping. I do not like running around constantly flipping camps/towers/keeps. I really, REALLY enjoy defensive gameplay with repelling enemy attacks (I used to command in Aion sieges back when they were 2h long. Defending a fortress against sieging enemies for 2h was PEAK siege gameplay to me) so I am really looking forward to jumping into WvW again if these changes go live to attack AND defend!

It is a crapshoot mode, it isn't as popular because PVP in general is more niche than you think. Forced to play vs enjoying it are 2 very different things. They've been trying much harder to incentivize that to try and look good for the 4th quarter.. so their little project of self-benefiting+friends can keep going.
Remove the forced requirement and those wvw population numbers will show a much starker contrast.
@@lee98210 & @Drishby too. WvW is a much lower population game mode when compared to open-world PvE. It isn't even close. The points that @ChaosFoxy raises are very valid. Both PvP communities are incredibly elitist and hostile towards more casual players. More often than not I have seen WvW diehards trashing PvE players (like myself, though Idc about elitist nobodies in the PvP modes but others will) during WvW EXP events (like the one that dropped today). It is disgusting, if we're being frank, and something the community needs to work on.
Thankfully, there are some lovely people that welcome the casuals farming their Gifts of Battle, which saves the experience occasionally.
@7:05 the marked debuff is the same debuff that sentries give in WvW (and also the same debuff that the watchtower passive tactic gives enemies near towers, and the same debuff that keeps give to enemies for 5 minutes after flipping) -- this debuff applies reveal to anyone who stealths for more than 1 second. So yes, it will knock enemies out of stealth.
Love having inventory items counter entire playstyles/builds/elite-specs :^)

Minor nitpick. It's 3 seconds of stealth, not 1.
@@ArmoredSarge It's actually 2 seconds, you can confirm by either the wiki or the game BUT it punishes you if you use skills with 2 second durations, the only safe skills are the ones with 1 second duration (or if there's any with fractions of a second between 1 and 2)
ie: deadeye rifle dodgeroll. (The fun part about this is that 2-second duration skills are random whether or not they reveal you if you let their duration expire, usually it does trigger, but sometimes randomly the skill will expire before the check instead and you wont' get revealed - but in general these skills are not safe to use while Marked if you don't want to get revealed)
How about making an extra map or 2 for WVW, instead of shitting on roamers all the time. The population balance is disgusting atm. but oh well let's ignore the real problems as usual. worst set of Devs in any game at the moment in my opinion.
What i don't like about wvw is the fact they are still charging 1,800 gems to go back to servers when those servers don't exist they are actually ripping off gw2 players.

These changes do nothing help the under populated servers 5 vs 20 and more health on a tower lord is plain up b.s. Towers getting flipped to fast is laughable of course they get flipped fast to the boon blob. They need to address the blob game play permanent boons small group can not even touch the 20+ blob running around. Remove boons from WvW would change a lot. Addressing one shot builds being vaporized in 3 seconds is not interesting at all let alone these builds running inside a boon blob.
Best update they can do is leave this mode as it is and move dev to the rest of the game.
Too many people crying too much about the tower lord hp, but lets be real, WVW was not made for the solo player that wants to solo kill an NPC, we have pve for that. The changes proposed are meant to "force" people into playing as a group. You can find guilds at almost any time zone, and there are many small guilds that can never grow in numbers despite the server being full, because of pve players invading wvw without actually using it for group content, i am really looking forward to those people coming to join others in guilds to have a much better experience all round.
