Jon’s Descent into Madness Volume 1: Wiggler’s Garden.
What started off as another LP of another Mario Party, little did anyone realize at the time, it would be chronicled as Jon’s Descent into Madness.
It began as a wonderful reuniting of the trio
The word is 'descent', one of the most commonly misspelled words. But all of us knew what you meant. Descent into Madness indeed, starting in a garden and ending in an infernal pinball machine.

I thought it would be fun to track Jon's anger for this. Here we begin with Wigglers Garden, everything is going as you expected, minigames, shopping, and hexes. After some time Emile landed on a star hex space and gained 3 more stars. However Jons anger soon began to boil as emile gained more stars and even even skipped one. Jons anger has only begun.
Just add an anger meter and have it overflow when he does his outrage on Bowser's Pinball Machine

All three members of TRG reunite for the first time in a few years, and they celebrate with a chaotic handheld party.
The one who is really celebrating is Emile as his Mario Party dream came true.
But this is the calm before the storm for a certain someone...or at least a small storm before a bigger one.
And here begins the best moments of Jon’s descent into madness and losing his voice in the process….

I feel so sorry for Kirby…
Three guys have been shrunken down to fit on our dual screens! They'll have to endure a garden full of playful plants, a music room with fickle prices, a gorilla statue acting as a star dispenser, a library of magical mischief, and the world's cruelest pinball machine! One guy will face greater hardships than the other two, and another shall be blessed with stellar blocks and the ultimate flex!
This project further solidifies Emile's years-long characterization as the Gladstone Gander of TRG, blessed with insane luck and getting to look smug as he declines a star on the first board (his saving grace is that he's putting effort into winning minigames, so he's not a layabout like Gladstone).
Meanwhile, Jon's feeling as ill-tempered as Donald Duck, getting screwed over at every turn and feeling extremely envious of Emile's success.
And as usual, Tim's just going through the motions and being his whimsical self, much like Fethry Duck.
Now I'm wondering how TRG's guests and friends fit into this scenario as stand-ins for the McDuck clan. Any Webby kinnies out there who want to volunteer?
What better way to kick off another TRG Mario Party, than with Emile getting to live out his dream while Jon begins to rage?

TRG's journey begins in Wiggler's Garden, where the crew finds out just how ridiculous this game can be with its game changing hexes and events such as the almighty Star Block. Their next destination is an area full of musical madness.

Ah, chapter 1 in the story of Jon’s villain arc, “disgusting game design and Chugga’s successful dream fulfillment.”
Little did Jon know that this game had decided that he was overdue on his luck payments, and that it was time for him to *pay up…*
Okay.
So one thing I wanna clear up about Emile's little thing about the opening, because a few things are wrong:
5 Sky Crystals fall from the sky and Bowser was wanting them for a reason explained at the end of the Story Mode (I won't spoil it for those who want to find out themselves)
One of these crystals falls near Mario, who tells his friends (and Wario and Waluigi, for some reason) about it the next day
Afterward (or at least, I assume it's afterward), Bowser says invites Mario and co. to his castle for a party, also inviting DK (you see his fate at a later board, but that's when we get to it)
Mario and friends go and get captured, where Bowser uses his Mario Party DS exclusive item and the REAL reason the crew's tiny, the Minimizer, to shrink everyone down
After THAT fiasco, Kamek takes everyone to a faraway area, where Mario and co. awaken and go on a journey to get back to normal size, collecting all the other Crystals along the way by beating the bosses of each board
So yeah, Emile's whole bit about eating food that shrinks you being the reason for why you're tiny is full of shit. I 100%-ed this (for no other reason than having nothing better to do with my time when I had this game, I don't know where the cart is now), and it was absolutely MISERABLE when doing so (though I still come back every now and then if a friend has it)
Just wanted to clear it up for those who might not REALLY know and just take Emile's explanation at face value
And here begins the Epic Tale of Salton Jon...followed by his descent into madness.
The ending to that board really should have announced the colour for the entire project. But all the same, all the boards caught me off-guard.
33:26 The funny thing is, even if that did happen, Emile still would have won this game due to getting all but one of the bonus stars. He really was destined to fulfill his dream!
TRG In The Land Of Dirty Socks Episode 1 Highlights: We open with a big thank you to Amber (formerly known as Andrew) for giving the Guys her copy of Mario Party DS for the sake of this project, Jon gets some early fortune by getting to go second, winning the first minigame and getting the first Star (this fortune will not last), and Emile has a longtime dream of his fulfilled.

The story behind this let's play is so wholesome, but also topical as it was the last time the three got together before COVID happened. So many events, so many stars and coins, so many nostalgic memories of Mario Parties 1 - 8 past, only three friendships rekindled though (unless you count all the watchers out in TH-cam land; then it's in the hundreds and thousands). Hmm... hundreds and thousands, now I want a UK ice cream. lol

Liked how NCS chooses AI Mario as his friend, then gets ten more coins after Mario landed on his hex space
I can already hear the screams of the Jon and we're not even there yet.
Emile finally gets to fulfill his wish of having such a big Star lead that he got to turn down buying another Star. Tim is now living with Emile, so less travel needed overall. Jon gets off to his worst start in a Mario Party since 3. And the AI is simply there, as usual.

This was an amazing story and amber we hope you're doing well. Many of us also enjoyed this game. I funny enough own my own original copy of Mario party DS. It was a gift from my mom and dad for my 16th birthday.
It's time for some dual screen shenanigans as we witness the best of MPDS! Now with small people in our gardens!

Ah yes, Chugga’s greatest revenge story for mario party 5 and 6… all in a saga for almost a intire game and all it took was a character swap and a handheld… and 2 other mario partys… i mean its a small victory
I do have this game, but it's been a long time since I played it, and before this LP, I'd forgotten just how much the game was essentially just pure distilled Mario Party. It takes all the craziness and chaos of other Mario Parties and just runs with it, and that plus TRG was sure to be a hell of a ride.
I just didn't QUITE know where the ride would be going.
And so it begins...
It wouldn't surprise if a majority of the top 10 moments involve Jon losing his sanity in some way.
This is probably one of the best LPs that they ever done every single Mario party LP is great but the one on the DS is got to be the one that actually made me gut busting laughter.

I wished they dappled a bit more into the story. Emile managed to not only misexplain why the bosses exist, but the actual plot of the story.
Summary: Crystal has fallen from the sky and split into 5. Mario got 1, a random koopa got 1, toadette got 1, wiggler got 1, and DK got 1. Bowser sent invites, as Emile said. Bowser sends troops for everyone else who didn't get them. DK runs into Dry bones and get petrified. Kamek turns the grand pappy of the koopa into a book.
Everyone else is self explanatory. When the gang arrives at Bowser's, they are trapped and shrunken immediately. Then thrown very far away. Along the way, you encounter the other 4 who got crystals, fix their dilemmas, and get their shards in the process. DK did get a ticket to the buffet and when you free him, he goes charging anyways. When the bowser boss fight occurs, you are still tiny until DK and Diddy bust in and destroy the staff Bowser used to shrink you. So his boss fight occurs and he is tied up with JR. You then put all shards together and get and glass DS and you let the Bowsers have the first turn. The End

I think this is the only LP that i won't ever rewatch tbh. It's hard to watch with what happens with Jon getting bodied and all the shit that happens in this playthrough. I still remember the backlash at the 22 stars Chuggaa got at the DK board.

This is the beginning of Jon’s Shutout. Only took 3 generations of Console games to finally bone Jon sideways
Fun fact:Since Emile had a 5 star gap on Jon, the 3 stars he could have gotten from the star blocks wouldn’t have mattered. The only way he could have won was for him to get two of three bonus stars without Emile getting one, but since Emile had all of them but one, that was straight up impossible.
I still cant wait for Mario Party 9. It'll be a frustrating mess for the boys. I hope we'll be abke to hear what made Emile go from optimistic Emile during emerald when he talked about the game to present day Emile hating the game
Jon gets so salty through this playthrough that I forgot he was genuinely interested at the start of the game.
Lets be honest, the top three moments are going to be...
-Jon raging at Emile "lying" to him after getting 22 stars.
-Jon raging at the game after losing two stars in the same turn.
-Jon raging at Wario after he keeps stealing his items.
