    what I'm really impressed about with this series is the amount of time and care taken over the TH-cam edits. Other videos posted from Twitch content can be really frustrating with all the constant notification interruptions and constant engagement with dumb comments in chat, but these videos really strike the right balance, and I also love that the opponents' thinking time is often shortened. All in all, much more enjoyable to watch... THANKYOU 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

I have watched much chess instruction on YT but your thought processes and teaching style really stand out. I have a feeling that following the rules of a sub 1000 rated player, together with not doing anything stupid, becomes much easier when you're already a higher rated player, let alone a grandmaster. Especially the part about not doing anything stupid... or setting up the back rank mate down a queen in the last game. I'm really looking forward to when this series reaches my rating level.

      @Max Payne He is teaching habits that are progressively getting more and more complicated and nuanced. I think he knows that taking a pawn is good, however focusing on development and simple tactics is more important.

    • @Ninterd2
      @Ninterd2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Max Payne The point is that the habits he's teaching are in general good, especially at this level. Taking free pawns won't be winning games if you lose to easy tactics anyway.

    • @randombutspecific
      @randombutspecific 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Max Payne At 900-1200 the level is still so low that even 2-3 pawns advantage (or even a piece advantage) wont decide the game, because people still mess up tactics, hang their pieces, or blunder checkmate.
      The most deciding factors at that level is to 1) not hang pieces, 2) protect bank rank and 3) develop the pieces to good and safe squares.
      These arent the habits of a “700 rated” player, these are the core ideas for players of all levels. It’s just that as you get better you learn when to break the rules for better play

    Love that you don’t focus on winning but on making the right decisions/habits at one’s current knowledge. The more right decisions that are made, the more improvement made. Every other “climbing the ladder” series seems like it’s just showing off their ability to find “simple” complex tactics against low rated players. Hence why so many people comment something along the lines of “it’s like the opponents give you their pieces.” Winning will come with the right moves and habits. The right moves won’t just come from winning matches from getting lucky. Cheers brah!

    I'm on the other end of this a lot, get up a load of material, get into time trouble when my opponent moves quickly and I'm trying to figure out strong moves in the position, blunder mate in 2.

    This is so much more helpful than memorizing some complicated opening lines and playing for tricks. That is what the gm’s are “teaching” the streamers for Pogchamps and that is why they are playing at such a poor level consistently. As a beginner you really don’t need to learn openings... During the Vienna teaching at 23:20 , how is the chess analysis on the right moving so fast? I have a pretty suped up PC and it takes like 10-30 seconds to show "best move" and such whenever I take over the moves in game review. Any thoughts?
